Some versions of I/A Series software may not support Modbus connections.
The Multi-Port Serial card provides 4-serial COM lines for external hardware. A Multi-Port serial
cable (part number P0922MZ) must be connected to the Multi-Port Serial card to provide the
physical connections for the additional COM lines. The multi-port serial card requires a driver;
refer to Installing the PE2800 Multi-Port Serial Card Driver (Equinox SST4PU) on page 57.
If the Multi-Port Serial card must connect to a Modbus unit, the Modbus 9-pin to 9-pin
connector (P0912VN) cable must attach to the P2 connector on the serial cable, as shown in
Figure 1-18.
For sites requiring greater distances between the Modbus unit and the P91 server, use modems
between the P2 connector on the Multi-Port serial cable and the Modbus 9-pin-to-9-pin connector cable.
Figure 1-19 shows the pinout from the Multiple Port Serial card to the Modbus device.
NOTE
Plug your Modbus device into the Multi-Port Serial card defined by your system
configuration.

The P91 server does not work with the Command Center side-arm mounted monitors, P0930DH and P0930WG.
The dual- and quad-head video cards require a driver; refer to Configuring the Video Driver on
page 59.
When you add a multi-head video card to a P91 server, you can now use the integrated video output as well as the multi-head video cards. This allows you the flexibility of using one to five video
displays at a time.
Instructions for connecting the monitors to the multi-head video cards vary depending on
whether you are installing a dual- or quad-head video card.
First, you must choose how you want to position the monitors in your final configuration.
Figure 1-20 provides an illustration of the typical monitor configurations. (For additional examples of dual and quad head monitor configurations, refer to Configuring the Video Driver on
page 59.) Assign each monitor a number as shown in Figure 1-20.

with its proper slot (DIMM1_A, DIMM1_B, DIMM2_A, DIMM2_B,
DIMM3_A, or DIMM3_B). Ensure the notch of the DDR-2 RAM is properly
aligned over the socket.
NOTE
The DDR-2 RAMs are keyed (notched) and plug in only one way. Ensure that the
notches on the DDR-2 RAM align with the socket.

b. Insert the DDR-2 RAM connector gently into the socket, so that it rests in the
socket.
c. Press the DDR-2 RAM by its corner edges into the socket. Ensure the plastic clips
on both sides of the module click into place to indicate that the module is firmly
held in place.
Detach the wrist strap from your wrist, and remove the clip lead from the
workstations chassis.
Close the cover until you hear a click, indicating the cover has been secured in place.
Reconnect the monitor, keyboard, mouse, and other peripheral cables you removed,
and the power cord.
Restart the workstation. During restart, the chassis intrusion detector causes the following message to be displayed at system startup:
ALERT! Cover was previously removed.
Also, the system detects that the new memory does not match the existing system configuration information and generates the following message:
The amount of system memory has changed.
Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility.
14. Press the F2 key to enter BIOS Setup, and check the value for System Memory. The
system should have changed the value of System Memory to reflect the newly installed
memory. Verify the new total.
NOTE
If the memory total is incorrect, turn off and disconnect your computer and peripherals from their power sources. Open the computer case and check the installed
DDR-2 RAMs to make sure that they are seated properly in their sockets.
15. While you are still in system setup, use the following steps to configure Chassis
Intrusion.
a. Use the arrow down key to select System Security and press Enter.
b. Use the arrow down key to select Chassis Intrusion and use the + or - to change
the setting to Enabled and press Enter.

Configuration Utility.
NOTE
Use the up and down arrows to highlight options; use the Esc key to back out; and
use the Enter key to select items. For other navigation keys, see the bottom of the
screen.
4. Select Configure. The program scans the drives after each of the following selections:
a. Selecting View/Add Configuration, then pressing F3, allows you to see if there is
a RAID set (logical drives) already configured.
b. Selecting Clear Configuration allows you to delete an existing container (RAID
set). Everything on the drives is permanently deleted. Read the last question and
press Yes to erase the data and containers.
5. To create a new container:
a. Select View/Add Configuration.
b. Use the spacebar to add drives to the container (RAID set). Press F4 for hot spare,
if required.
c. Press Enter to complete the selection.
d. Press F10 to select the type of RAID set.
e. Press the spacebar to select Span-1, then press F10.
