Bridging the gap between talk

and action
Baw Baw Sustainability
Network (BBSN) is an
independent, not for profit
community group, bridging
the gap between talk and
action on sustainable
living.

We focus on helping
people reduce their
energy use at home
and on improving health
and quality food through
gardening as means
to achieve our goals of
educating and taking action
to reduce global warming.
We want to see the Baw
Baw area become a leader
in this field.
Our group was formed
in 2007 and has grown
to become a vibrant and
active group with around
140 members. We run
regular information
nights, film screenings,
workshops on a range of
topics from composting,
felting, bread making,
beekeeping, cheese
making and more. For

many years we have

run household energy
workshops and we are
now offering a home
energy assessment
service, aiming to help
people save money
by advising on ways
to reduce their energy
wastage. Typically, our
homes are quite leaky
and poorly insulated and
addressing these issues is
the best place to start.

Every Wednesday morning

a group gathers at our
hub at REstore at 79
Princes Hwy, Yarragon
to work in the garden or
on whatever the current
project happens to be.
At the moment we are in
the middle of removing a
decaying glasshouse and
replacing it with a larger
greenhouse which will
increase our capacity to
produce more food plants
for planting or for sale. We
are grateful recipients of a
community grant from Baw
Baw Shire for this, and

previous projects.

Other activities include a

book group, newsletter,
engagement with
other similar groups,
collaboration with our
local school who will
use our greenhouse to
help supply their kitchen
garden. We also have
annual showcase events
of Sustainable House
Day each September and
Food Gardens Day as part
of Gardivalia in October.
These are a fantastic
opportunity for the general
public to see how local
people are living with a
lower footprint.
Visitors are very welcome
to our permaculture
inspired garden including
an aquaponics unit at
REstore which is behind the
Fozigobble caf. Michael
and Ruth Fozard are
members and supporters of
BBSN and offer great food
and coffee, using produce
from our garden-perhaps

our most important

collaboration of all!
BBSN members receive
discounts on all our
events, services as
well as on drinks at
the caf, newsletters
and information. We
also run a Registered
Environmental Fund which
can receive tax deductible
donations. The key focus
of fundraising at the
moment is to complete the
purchase of the REstore
site which will give us a
permanent home and
regular income from the
lease to the caf which
in turn will enable us to

employ a project worker

for more hours. Natasha
Brown has been working

in the role for a few

years now and has been
invaluable in making all
that we do happen.

Election 2016

The Greens Eye Gippsland Electorates

With the Coalition's May
2016 budget again being
a focus on trickle-down
economic policies, the
local Green candidates
are calling for change.
The average person
across Gippsland is no
better off in this Budget.
says Donna Lancaster,
candidate for McMillan.
The government seems
to want to continue to
promote inequality and
constrict our economy,
when what we really
need is to close the gap
between the everyday
Australians and those at
the big end of town.
Candidate for Gippsland,
Ian Onley, agrees. We
need to encourage
investment in real
innovation, across multiple
industries, including
manufacturing, renewable
energy and farming.
Onley, himself a fourth
generation farmer, feels
that only the Greens
have the courage and
vision for a fairer, more
prosperous Australia. He
says Instead of giving
subsidies to fossil fuel
companies, investment
in renewables through
research, development
and manufacture would
create jobs.

Its the Renew Australia

plan that really sets The
Greens apart in this
election, suggests Willisa
Hogarth, who is both the
federal candidate for the
seat of Flinders, and the
Victoria Greens state
gonvenor. The Greens
Renew Australia plan
outlines how we would
transition the Latrobe
Valley and our economy,
away from reliance on
coal to renewable energy.
Hogarth states that This
is a major plan for a new,
invigorated economy that
doesnt pollute.
All three candidates
are concerned about
families and job security
in the Latrobe Valley. Ms
Lancaster says, The
Valley has a huge history
in our energy production,
and we should be proud
of that. However, with the
owner of the Hazelwood
mine already suggesting
they might close it down
sooner rather than later,
the Government has to
act. We cant allow the
region to be without an
industry to transition into.

deliver jobs as well as

addressing global warming.
The Greens are making
sure that no family in the
Latrobe Valley will be left
behind in that transition.

The Greens have released

policies across the election
campaign to take on both
health and education,
another two key issues
for all three seats. With
promises to invest in
frontline Primary Health
network services, as well
as focus government
school funding into the
neediest schools across
Gippsland, the candidates
are sure the people of
Gippsland are ready for
change.

Five things to do in the snow other than ski

It's that time of year
winter where Victoria's
alpine region transforms
into a wonderland,
blanketed in soft powderwhite snow. Where
snowflakes dance in
the air, and warm open
fireplaces beckon you
to snuggle up with a hot
chocolate.

Snow season is magic,

and you don't have to be
a skier or snowboarder
to enjoy it. Here are five
fun things to do at Dinner
Plain this snow season
that don't involve a lift
pass.

4. Snowshoeing walks

1. Take a sled dog ride

You won't know who's

more excited: you or
the huskies. These
pups love to run and
they're just bursting with
anticipation before a ride.
The excitement makes
the experience all that
more enjoyable, if flying
through the enchanted
snow gum forests on
a sled in the snow isn't
already enjoyable enough.
It's fun overload. New this
season, Dinner Plain's
Howling Husky Sled Dog
Tours are now running
sunset and moonlight
tours. Romance doesn't
get much better than that.

2. Blizzard Brewing
Company

Being Australia's highest

brewery isn't just a
gimmick it's actually
got everything to do with
the taste of the beer. It all
comes down to the quality
of the water, and the
pristine snow-melt aquifer
that sits under Dinner
Plain is home to some of
the country's purest water.
Now, given that water is
the key ingredient in beer,
that's significant. Come
up to the brewery for a
beer tasting and enjoy an
experience that Europeans
and Americans have been
indulging in for decades.

Think bushwalking, but

in the snow. Snowshoes
have wide bases that
allow you to walk on
powder without sinking
deep into it. It's easy to do
and where you walk is up
to you! Wander through
snow-covered trees in the
Alpine National Park, or
head out to discover the
old cattlemen's huts of
a bygone era. There are
numerous trails around
Dinner Plain from easy
to challenging. Snowshoes
can be hired from one of
Dinner Plain's three ski
shops.

3. The Onsen Retreat

and Spa

5. Tubing at the Snow

Park

This one is particularly

fun for families. Don't ski?
No worries, you can slide
down the snow-covered
hill in a big rubber tube.
The tube run at Dinner
Plain's Snow Park is
open all snow season,
starting Saturday 11 June.
Conveniently, there's a
cafe right at the bottom,
oh, and a brewery too!

Onsens or outdoor
hot pools are famous
throughout Japan, and
they're synonymous with
snow. You really do get
quite a kick out of stripping
down to your bikini or
budgie smugglers and
sitting surrounded by
snow while relaxing in
the warmth of the 39C
water. Chill out even more
with one of the Onsen's
signature massages, and
that's a good day.

Town Of The Month Yarragon

Yarragon Book Fair

Over the past 13 years
the Yarragon Charity
Book Fair has become
an important date of the
book lovers calendar.

The event run jointly by

the Yarragon and DarnumEllinbank Fire Brigades
has grown into one of the
premier events of its kind.
This year the Book Fair
will fall on the 9th and
10th of July.
The passion we see
for books is amazing
said Yarragon Brigade
Secretary and Book Fair

Team Member, Geoff

Conway. People from
all over Victoria come to
Yarragon on the second
weekend in July to search
for books that you just
cannot get in the stores
any more. EBooks and
kindles dont seem to be
able to compete with the
classic feel of a good hard
cover.
This year the brigades
have assembled a stock
of over 35,000 books of
every description. Novels
seem to be the favourite

but we have people

looking for biographies,
science fiction, poetry,
cook books, self-help
manuals and travel
books, said Geoff. Our
favourite part of the Book
Fair is still the childrens
books. The kids quickly
lose themselves in the
hundreds of books
available with a whole
room of the Yarragon
Public Hall dedicated to
them.
Stock has been donated
from residents of the

district and charitable

groups across Eastern
Victoria and the quality is
amazing says Geoff. We
have many books that are
virtually brand new and
will be sold for a fraction of
the original price. Prices
for the books are the big
attraction with soft covers

for $1 each, hardcovers

for $2.50 and childrens
books for $5 a bag or box.
Doors open on Saturday
morning from 9:00 am and
close on Sunday 4:00 pm.
Fresh stock is available
on Sunday because there
simply is not enough room

in the hall to display all

the stock we have, said
Geoff. So those coming in
on Sunday morning get a
fresh start.
The Yarragon Public Hall
is in Campbell Street,
just 50 metres from the
Princess Hwy and a short
walk to any number of
excellent coffee shops,
cafes and galleries.

Benefits of Having a Tax

Accountant

Many Australians file

and lodge their own tax
returns each year, utilising
only a limited source of
tax knowledge they have
from both word of mouth
and what they find on the
internet.

Did you know that if

you were to use a tax
accountant for your return
you would pay a small fee
but receive a much greater
return on your tax?
Its true! Tax accountants
are in business for
a reason, learn why
you should use a tax
accountant when doing
your tax return.
What is a tax
accountant?
A tax accountant is a
qualified accountant
in Australia that has
dedicated their profession

to understanding how the

Australian tax laws and
tax systems operate. By
understanding how the
ATO operates and the
taxes and deductions
that exist, a good tax
accountant can help you
deduct a lot of money
from your annual tax bill,
potentially saving you
$1000s.

Why use an accountant?

I will explain the reasons
why you should use a tax
accountant in dot form
below to make it easier to
read:

They will find

deductions you never
knew existed.

They will help you learn

how to organise your
files for next year.

The cost of seeing one

is tax deductable for

the following year.

If you use a tax

accountant, filing your
tax in July will allow
you to not pay any tax
that is owing until the
following year because
you are registered with
a tax agent.

A good tax accountant

will help you
understand how to
maximise your finances
and always be safe
and legal in operating
under the rules the ATO
provide.

Last but not least,

its convenient! Get
someone else to do the
most boring thing you
have to do each year!

We say goodbye to the short days of winter

and celebrate the longer days to come
A group of locals got together
with an idea to hold a Winter
festival and lantern parade in
Warragul, similar to the lantern
parade held in Belgrave every
year. Last year there was
much talk and interest in the
idea of a lantern parade but
with no funds for such an
event, this lead to a small
group of people very dedicated
to seeing Warragul come alive
during the cold quiet months of
winter. We wanted to put on a
family friendly event that would
get people in Warragul and
the surrounds out and about
during the cold. What better

way than to hold an event that

celebrates the change from
the shortest darker days to
the days growing longer and
lighter. We wanted to see
families, children and locals
come together with lanterns for
a celebration, and something
that would excite and inspire
and bring together people not
only on the night but in the
lead up to the event, with free
lantern making workshops
throughout the Shire. Making
lanterns in the community will
build excitement for Winterfest
as people count down to
midwinter with the Winterfest

and Lantern Parade at Eastern

Park. On the night we will see
the community come out for
free family fun, there will be
lots of free childrens activities,
with a myriad of lanterns as
we parade around the park
accompanied by musicians
and performers before
ending at the night market
lit by lanterns, the sounds of
local musicians and drums,
a bonfire and fire twirlers.
Lantern making workshops
are being held at schools,

Visitors set to have a whale of a

time in Gippsland this winter
The whale migration
season has begun and
with increasing numbers
of Humpback whales
sighted over the last
few years, another great
whale watching season is
expected off Phillip Island
and the Gippsland coast
throughout the winter and
spring months.

In celebration of this
exciting season, Phillip
Islands Wildlife Coast
Cruises, in partnership with
Phillip Island Nature Parks
and the Dolphin Research
Institute, is hosting the
inaugural Winter Whale
Weekend; a host of special
events and opportunities
for close encounters with
majestic migrating whales,
to be held on the Queens
Birthday Weekend, from
11th 13th June 2016.
The 2016 Winter Whale
Weekend will kick off
the migration season
with a series of events
and encounters for the
whole family including
wildlife talks, hands-on
fun activities and movie

northerly migration from

Antarctica to the east coast
of Australia and back again.
Humpback whales, with
average adults at 15-18m
long, migrate to warmer
waters to give birth and
to mate, before returning
to Antarctica in spring to
feed. Their journey along
the coast can take weeks,
especially if young whales
are travelling with them.
Pods usually travel in small
groups of 2 or 3, and are
often seen within 100200m off the coast. The
Gippsland coastline offers
great vantage points for
locals and visitors to spot a
whale from June all the way
through until October.
For a more up-close
encounter Wildlife Coast
Cruises runs special
cruises in search of these
majestic creatures off the
Phillip Island and Wilsons
Promontory coast. With
over 15 years experience in
whale watching tours and
expert spotters on board,
Wildlife Coast Cruises has
over 80% whale sightings
rate. Once found, whales

can be approached under

special marine mammal
permit conditions, allowing
passengers to witness the
whales up close truly a
very memorable experience!
Winter Whale Cruises
depart Cowes every
weekend between June and
August, with extra mid-week
cruises scheduled during
the school holidays.
Wilsons Promontory
Cruises commence again
in spring, with cruises
scheduled on 22, 23 and
24 October. This full day
cruise includes spectacular
cruising along the rugged
coastline of the Wilsons
Promontory National Park,
with a stopover at Refuge
Cove and an up close
viewing of the unique Skull
Rock!
Wildlife Coast Cruises offers
a range of bay cruises and

A Garden For Life

Sale Botanic Gardens are
150 years old. Right now,
Wellington Shire Council
is planning for their next
150 years and wants
residents input to guide
the next stage of their
development.

Esteemed horticulturist,
Andrew Laidlaw, has
presented the community
with an exciting new
concept for the Fauna
Park. This much loved
small fenced area
was once home to
native wildlife including
kangaroos and wallabies,
but has been nearly empty
for a long time.

20

Tickets range between

$8.00 and $12.00 at the
Briagolong Mechanic's
Institute hall on Avon
Street, Briagolong.

Mayor Darren McCubbin

acknowledges the
community may be
uncomfortable with
the idea of losing the
Fauna Park, but assures
residents the plan is to
replace with something
better. He says, With
only two captive wallabies
left behind the fence, and
in changing times, this
concept provides a superb
chance to redevelop it into
something well all enjoy
even more.
Andrew Laidlaw has
given us his Garden for

Unique Character Of Gippsland

www.gippslander.com.au 15

A remarkable man who quietly goes about making a difference to

many families across Gippsland
job that required him to
work shift. Interchange
Gippsland is a progressive
disability organisation,
they understand each
family, each individual has
their own needs. They
understand there is no
normal.

Peter Greenwood is
not a name that is
instantly recognisable or
particularly famous, but
the Gippsland father of
two, grandfather of one
is a remarkable man who
quietly goes about making
a difference to many
families across Gippsland.
For an impressive fifteen
years Peter has been
quietly volunteering with
local disability provider
Interchange Gippsland.
Interchange Gippsland is
a not for profit disability
organisation that provides
respite and support
services to families across
the Gippsland region.

Interchange Gippsland
and their activities have
a strong focus on social
inclusion and building
community connection in
Gippsland.
Peter Greenwood is one
of Interchange Gippslands
longest servicing
volunteers. Peter
commenced volunteering
for Interchange Gippsland
in 2001 when he joined
the organisations
voluntary Board of
Management. Today is
still a Board volunteer
and is now the President.
60% of the volunteers on
Interchange Gippsland
Board of Management are
parents/carers of a child

Peter said, Our familys

early experiences with
Interchange Gippsland
were all positive. As a
family we required respite,
but it needed to fit around
our working life, which
were not 9-5 Monday
to Friday. Our respite
needed to be flexible, we
also wanted a say in our
carer to ensure Kaitlyn
received the best possible
support and we wanted an
organisation that was easy
to deal with. We received
that with Interchange,
which was both comforting
and refreshing. It
was this experience
that directly led me to
volunteering with them.
Peter talks about his
early days volunteering
with Interchange
Gippsland. From
being an Interchange
Gippsland client he knew
that the organisation
needed volunteers.
Volunteers play an
integral component in
organisation, from the
Board of Management
through to providing peer

thought if I could assist

another family then my
volunteering would be
worth it. Initially I thought
I would volunteer for a
few years, help develop
the place and then move
on that was 15
years ago! Interchange
Gippsland is such a
positive place, it has a
way of getting you in, the
staff, the families, the
participants, the volunteers
its now an integral part
of mine and my familys
life and I would not have it
any other way.
Over the past 15 years as
an Interchange Gippsland
volunteer on the Board
of Management, Peter
has seen the organisation
grow from a small cottage
disability organisation
to a large professional
disability organisation
offering a wide range

2016 is a milestone year

for Interchange Gippsland
who is celebrating 30
years as a local charity
supporting families
across the region. They
provide opportunities for
people with disabilities.
The unique services see
individuals with disabilities
attend day trips,
weekends away, camps
and supported holidays.
The service is unique
supporting people with
disabilities to participate
in the community just
like everyone else.

with a disability.
Peter first came to know
Interchange Gippsland as
client when he registered
his 4 year old daughter
Kaitlyn. With pressure of
24/7 care of a young child
with a disability, Peters
family required respite
to assist in the day to
running of their family and
to help support Kaitlyn.
Interchange Gippslands
ability to offer flexibility
in their care worked for
the Greenwoods which
worked in well with Peters

support to participants on
recreation and community
based programs. They
are the vital link in creating
community connection and
social inclusion.
I bit the bullet and joined
as a volunteer on the
Board of Management, I
thought I had something
worthwhile to offer as
a parent of a child with
a disability. I thought I
could get involved for a
few years and help out as
needed. The demands
were not too great and I

of services that now

spans the entirety of the
Gippsland region. New
programs and services
are available which means
Interchange Gippsland
now offers more families
than ever before disability
support and respite.
The Leadership Team of
Interchange Gippsland are
savvy, they are creative
in their approach, they
are constantly looking
for and applying for extra
funding, they network,
lobby and advocate for
change and they design
innovative programs
and make a difference,
not a bad effort for local
not for profit agency!
Interchange Gippsland
may have changed
and grown immensely
particularly over the last 5

years, but to the credit of

the staff their philosophy
has always remained the
same. They still assist
families as much as they
can, but importantly the
support they provide is
still individualised and
flexible. Just a few
years ago it used to be
once a person turned 18
their disability supports
were discontinued due
to limited funding being
available as they were
considered an adult. I am
pleased to say that the
staff and voluntary Board
of Management have
championed the cause
and this no longer occurs.
It is so great to see the
variety of programs now
available to people with
disabilities of all ages, and
its even more exciting to
see these people grow
in independence and
confidence and develop
life skills.

Essential Ingredients For Birds

What is the essential
ingredient for birds
to keep them fit and
healthy?

It it seed? Water? Green

food, Grit, Calcium? Indeed
they do need all these
things but the essential
ingredient is none of these
things. It is quite simply
sunlight. Direct sunlight,
not filtered through glass
or perspex but real direct
sunlight. The essential
ingredient obtained via
sunlight is Vitamin D3.
This vitamin forms the
essential link with all other
things that we give to our
birds for their well being.
Without the presence of D3
in a birds system you can
provide as much calcium,
in as many forms as you
like whether it be calcium
grit mix, calcium blocks etc
and it is basically a waste
of time and money. Why?
Because without D3 in
the birds system, they are
unable to absorb calcium
through the gut and
therefore it simply goes in
and out of the bird's system
without being properly
absorbed into the skeletal
system where it is required.
In the absence of D3 in
your bird's system you will
in all probability experience
some or all of the following
problems:

Breeding hens and

chicks with brittle bones,
sometimes seen as weak
flying ability, rickets or leg
and beak malformations.
Hens that do not lay.
Eggbound hens.

Soft shelled eggs.

A high incidence of chicks

in shell that fail to hatch.
Feather problems,
particularly in pet birds
ie. broken, tatty feathers,
birds that pluck or fail to
malt properly.

To overcome these
problems adequate
calcium intake is the key,
but to ensure adequate
intake and absorption
Vitamin D3 must be
present in sufficient levels
in a birds system for this to
occur.
So, what to do with
birds that are housed
permanently indoors or in
enclosed aviary situations
where no direct sunlight is
available?
You simply need to
provide these birds with
a product or supplement
that will provide the
necessary Vitamin D3 they
require. There are now
several solutions readily
available, for example
Calcivet (Vetafarm),
Avical (Aristopet), Cod
Liver and Wheat Germ

Oil (Elliots) and any of

these preparations are
suitable for providing your
birds with that essential
D3 ingredient. Calcivet
or Avical supplied once
weekly in their drinking
water should be sufficient
for their needs, perhaps
more frequently when
a hen is laying. If Cod
Liver and Wheat Germ
Oil is used, this should be
mixed through soaked or
sprouted seed and again
fed once weekly. Note:
Caution should be used
when feeding this in hot
weather as it can turn
rancid, all treated uneaten
seeds need to be disposed
of within 24 hours of
being fed, even in cooler
weather.
As with all artificially
provided preparations for
your birds don't over do
it, as with all supplements
more is not always better
and moderation is the
rule of thumb. For those
contemplating building
new or modifying existing
aviaries, take the time to
give careful consideration
as to the best way to give
your birds ready access to
the natural sunlight as this
in itself will make a very
real difference to the health
and well being of your
birds.

Spotlight on the LaTrobe Valley

A lot of people
underestimate the
hidden gems of the
Latrobe Valley and are
quite frankly missing
out.

Apart from Winter sports

on Mt Baw Baw, there
are tons of national parks
to hike in, lush forests
to picnic in and heaps
of fantastic lakes to sail,
boat, jet ski or swim in.
Newborough has the
300ha surface area Lake
Narracan, and close by
Blue Rock Dam whilst
Morwell has Hazelwood

Pondage which you can

actually jump into for a
swim in the dead of winter
(as its always around 22
degrees).

Then there are the myriad

of markets, organic shops,
cafes and restaurants
boasting culinary delights
using local produce, and
shops!
I will never personally buy
shoes or clothes from
anywhere else again
now that Ive discovered
the eclectic shops of the
Latrobe Valley.

As a realtor, I visit a lot

of up and coming areas
and see a lot of safe
family oriented regions.
The Latrobe Valley is right
up there for me and is an
area I frequent myself a lot
for recreation, food, and
for fun activities.
Dont wait any longer. Go
explore the Latrobe Valley
on your next break.
Feel free to call me for
suggestions or to let me
know what hidden gem
you have managed to find.

Helpful tips to care for your concrete tank

Concrete water tanks can

be found on thousands
of rural properties across
Victoria.
Poured on site, concrete
tanks are usually large in
volume, some of which
have been around for more
than 80 years.

Many of the tanks that the

Tank Shop is called in to
repair have been neglected
for many years without
owners considering the
consequences.

Water storage solutions

1. The overflow pipe on

the tank must be piped
six meters away so
overflowing water does
no sit around the base
of the tank.
2. A tank with water sitting
around the base in
winter conditions is a
recipe for disaster down
the track. The base of
the tank will subside to
the wet side over many
years and cracks will
appear when the base
moves. Keep the base
of your tank dry at all

times with the relevant

drainage, such as spoon
drains.
3. Dont plant trees/
shrubs/plants around
the tank, as roots will
penetrate concrete over
time looking for water
especially in dry months.
We have seen many
tanks where the floors
have cracked due to the
trees roots pushing from
underneath.
4. Consider how long water
tank cracks have been
leaking. Some tanks can
sit in a paddock and leak

for more than 20 years.

This will effect the steel
reinforcement inside
the wall and floors,
weakening structural
strength.

How to stop leaks in

concrete tanks
The earlier you can repair
concrete water tank leaks
the stronger your tank will
be for future years.
The pressure Injection
Flexible Sealant used on
concrete tank leaks is the
same application used on
Melbourne Burnley Tunnel.

Cars
Cars

The injection sealant treats

the crack from the outside
surface with the water
inside the tank, sealing the
crack all the way through
the walls thickness, from
the outside surface in.
This prevents water from
making contact with the
steel reinforcement of
the tank. The base of the
concrete tank and how
this is kept dry by utilising
correct drainage and water
from sitting around the
base of the tank and will
keep the tank base free.
Concrete water tanks

provide a lovely fresh, crisp

tasting water which you
do not find in modern day
water storage solutions.
Repair your leaks now and
save for the future.

JUNE 2016

Garden
Howdy folks. Wow! Winter is here that went quick.
Now is a great time to be planning and developing new garden beds. Make the most of
cool weather, giving new plants a chance to settle in and develop roots before the next
heat burst.
Things get busy in the nursery as we make room for the wide range of bare rooted stock
available to you soon. Great variety and great prices and you don't have to pay for the
pots or potting mix. The range of dwarf fruit trees is expanding rapidly. These are a good
option for smaller gardens or anyone wishing to give growing in pots a whirl. New options
include Ballerina apples, Skinny peaches, compact nectarines, pears, plums and citrus
trees. Multi grafted trees are another way of making the most of limited space and ensuring pollination occurs.
Now is also the time to be shifting any deciduous plants. Plan your winter spray program
and pruning to maximise fruit and flowers next spring. When you're pruning remember to
sterilise your equipment plants to avoid spreading problems.
