Introduction
This record is a document which all candidates are required to submit to the Council of
Registered Professional Engineers for registration.
Education and training should be seen as a homogeneous process. This can best be
achieved by systematic training, supervised to an extent which will ensure that the major
aspects of training and formal instruction during the training period are fully covered, while
allowing the trainee engineer full scope to develop initiative self-reliance and originality of
thought.
Training Programme.
Training schemes should be designed to give scope in developing individual programmes.
It may not be possible for employers to have completed or covered all the training topics,
but candidates will be required to show that they have acquired a reasonable knowledge of
most of the topics.
Change of Employers.
Council recognises that it is sometimes necessary for an engineering graduate to move
from one employer to another in order to arrange for a full training programme. However,
Council does not encourage short broken training periods, and its minimum acceptable
training period in any one firm shall be 3 months.
