PROCEDURE FOR

RECEIVING BULK
DELIVERY BY TANK TRUCK
Petron Corporation

TANK TRUCK RECEIVING


STEP 1
Request invoice from driver and verify all details on
invoice and ensure that the following items are in order:

STEP 1
Indicate time of arrival on the invoice and accomplish customer
receiving checklist.

For COD deliveries (except for industrial customers on account),


prepare the corresponding check and show correct payment to
driver.

Measure receiving tank ullage.

Check for water using water finding paste.

STEP 3
Instruct driver to park trailer/tank truck on level ground.

STEP 3
Verify from driver compartments to be discharged. Have driver
open emergency valve levers of the compartment from which
product will be discharged.

STEP 4
Inspect seals of valve box and gauge hatches of compartments to
be discharged.
Customers must make sure that valve box and gauge hatch covers
cannot be opened without breaking seals and that seals are in
order and not removed.
Check for any signs of tampering.
Ensure that seal numbers are
sequential and match the
numbers reflected in the invoice.

STEP 4
Receiver should personally break the seals of hatch covers and
valve box.
(In a rare instance of multiple delivery points, the discharge
valves are also sealed).

Before breaking the seals, check for


any signs of tampering.
Refer to Appendix A for Petron
seal inspection guidelines.

STEP 5
Open hatch cover of the compartment to be unloaded and do the
following:
5.1

Check that the DOST/ITDI seal on gauge marker is intact.

5.2

Verify that gauge marker is welded


to rod and the brackets.
Should there be any doubts as to the
accuracy of the gauge
markers, require driver to produce
an updated DOST/ITDI
or Petron T/T Calibration &
Inspection Certificate and take
measurements of gauge marker
distance.

Please turn to page 25 for sample of calibration certificate. For
instructions in taking gauge marker measurements, refer to
Appendices B and C. The measurements taken should be
the same as that indicated in the Calibration Certificate.
5.3.

Inspect product level and make sure that product level


reaches the bottom side of gauge marker. If product level
is below the gauge Marker, refer to Appendix D.

STEP 6
To check the quality of the products delivered, use test kit and
perform the following (Refer to Appendix E):
6.1

If product is gasoline (premium


and regular), confirm absence of
contamination (with kerosene or
diesel) by using Marker Test Kit.

STEP 7
Have driver position trailer/tank truck on place of discharge,
ensure that hand brakes are securely engaged and wheel choked
in place.
Require driver to place his fire extinguisher on the floor near
discharge point (approximately 15 ft. away).

STEP 7
Fire extinguisher must be left in place until completion of discharge.
As an added precaution, the customer may also provide a fire
extinguisher.
Ensure that there is no source of ignition or open flame within the 50 ft.
radius of the discharging point.

Check presence of water in tank truck product compartments (Refer to
Appendix F).

STEP 9
Instruct driver where to discharge each product being delivered,
connect discharge hose, and open discharge valve.

(Double check that not only the correct product is to be unloaded but
also the quantity can be accommodated to the storage tank).

STEP 9
Customer should observe if there are leaks at the discharge valve
connection and from the discharge hose. Recheck and ensure that
the emergency valve levers are left open.
Driver and customer should always be
at the discharge point throughout the
period of discharge. Should there be
product leaks anywhere from the tank
truck to the filling pipe, unloading
operations must immediately be
stopped.
Resume unloading when leak(s) has
been fixed.

STEP 10
After discharging has been completed, instruct the driver to disconnect
the discharge hose (with emergency valve and discharge valve lever
open).

STEP 11
Open the hatch cover again and visually check that the compartment is
completely empty.
If visual inspection shows that product is still present in the
compartment but product is not flowing out, refer to Appendix G for
instructions on what to do.
Otherwise, the delivery is
considered completed.

The customers acknowledge receipt of delivery by printing their
name and affixing their signature on the space provided for on the
invoice and issues the corresponding payment as required.

The tank truck may now be released. If the customer has any complaints,
suggestions or comments, refer to Appendix H for procedure to follow.

1.

Note for any signs of tampering such as cuts, broken view


window etc. on the seal

2.

Ensure that the tail of the seal fully extends beyond the view
window.

3.

From the view window, inspect the condition of the seals for
any cuts and connections.

4.

Ensure that the seal number matches with the seal number
indicated in the invoice.

Pull the tail of the seal to check if the seal is intact. Always
inspect, from the view window, for any signs of tampering such as

cuts.
