The debutantes program can also flow like this:
- Guests arrive
- Welcoming of guests
- Ushering of guests by ushers to their designated seats
- Cocktails for guests to mingle (so that they would not mingle once the program starts, and to give you
ample time to prepare before your grand entrance).
- After everyone has settled in their place, the host will make mention of important people who graced the
occasion (if there are).
- At this point, cocktails are being served.
- Parents talk about debutante (brief summary)- achievement, goals, ambitions, etc.
- Audio-visual presentation of debutante from infancy to present.
- GRAND ENTRANCE of debutante
- Parents talk some more about the debutante (optional)
- Toast in honor of the debutante

- Cutting of birthday cake
- Games
- Introduction of the debutante, her escort and her cotillion court
- GRAND COTILLION WALTZ DANCE
- Debutantes thank you speech
- Party time
- Everyone dances
Other variations may be the following:
* The host will have a talk, more of like an introduction and a short summary of the program, a little talk on

what is in store for the guests so that they would be enticed into finishing and staying for the duration of
the party and making the party a success. The host need not mention the juicy parts (those surprise
numbers and whatnots)
* For parents who are shy to talk in front of a crowd, the host will do the introduction about the debutante.
There will be a little talk before the debutante is introduced. Probably the host may interview some guests
and probably ask them some unforgettable moments with the debutante.
* For the eighteen roses, each guy can give a note for the host to read while they are dancing. This can
also be recorded and played together with the background music while they dance.
* Cotillion can be danced at the end of the program after which everybody may dance and which may
mark the start of the dancing.
* The father or parents of the debutante will talk about the celebrant (you can make a Powerpoint or Flash
presentation for everyone to see that has baby pictures or some important milestones of the debutantes
life)
* Father dances with his daughter as a separate part of the program.
* Escort/ bf takes debutante for a dance then everyone dance after some time
* Some also incorporate 18 wines, 18 treasures, 18 gifts as a variation so that most of the guests would
be able to greet the debutante.
* Games are inserted on different parts of the program.
Here is a more detailed flow of program but the arrangement can be tweaked here and there
according to preference.
1. Registration/Arrival of Guests/Receiving of gifts/Cocktails.
2. Settling of guests on their seats
3. Introduction by the emcee
4. Acknowledgment of the Parents and other VIPs
5. Introduction and entrance of the grand cotillion
6. GRAND ENTRANCE OF THE DEBUTANTE and her escort (optional)
7. Welcome remarks and toast by the Parents
8. AVP of debutante (pictures from infancy to present)

11. Dinner and pictorials
12. AVP of well-wishers
13. 18 ROSES
14. FATHER AND DAUGHTER DANCE

16. Singing of birthday song, blowing of 18 CANDLES and cutting of birthday cake
17. GAMES
18. DEBUTANTEs thank you speech
19. PARTY/Everybody on the dance floor
So remember, in making your program, list first what part of the basic program you want to retain or
delete and then you can make your own rendition according to your liking. Dont make it too long but dont
make it too short either. Create a balanced program and be imaginative in adding your own flavor into it. A
debut party well thought of is a debut party well remembered.

We have now reached the stage where our debutant shall discover meaningful gifts that
will really reflect the aspirations and personality of our birthday girl. Ladies and
gentlemen, to start off the 18 Treasures let us welcome (call each 18 treasure bearers)

Good Evening ladies and gentlemen: Welcome to this day in which one lady is about to
shine in tonight`s celebration. To start with I may request everyone to please rise for the
opening prayer to be lead to us by Miss Jasmine Cruz. Please be seated And now let`s
brace ourselves as I am about to introduce our celebrant this evening. A lot of women
are dreaming to be like her, a successful woman in her chosen career, a role model of
the youth as the only recipient of the Ninoy Aquino Award. The woman who has the
glamour and glitz in the society she revolves in. The good provider of the family . Joining
me in welcoming ..Miss Marissa Avilla. (let the celebrant give her speech) (after giving
her speech you may go to the gifts and call each giver and let them give their message
to the celebrant until the last gift.) or you may do it while the guests are already having
their dinner.) Let the family and friends give their message to the celebrant, Call the most
important person in the celebrant`s life to be the last to give a message and let them
dance in front of the guest. You may end the program with a closing remarks from the
mother of the celebrant or the father.

new set of goals, sending birthday messages and wishes is a
tradition especially in our country, where we give high value to
family ties and relationship. Tonight, ladies and gentlemen, I present
to you these 18 Wishers for our debutant. These are the people
close to the heart of our celebrant, and whom she listens and

HOST: Many ancient cultures believed that smoke carried their

prayers to the heavens. So, at the count of three, Mommy Cynthia
and members of the 18 Wishes, lets say May all our wishes come
true and blow our candles together. 1, 2, and 3

Everybody blows the candle

HOST: Let me share another good-to-know trivia to everyone on how
birthday cakes and candles came about as a tradition during
birthdays. Some believe that the tradition of birthday candles began
in Ancient Greece. Putting candles on a cake was a special way to
pay tribute to the Greek moon goddess, Artemis. They baked round
cakes to symbolize the moon. Candles were added to represent the
reflected moonlight. Todays tradition of making wishes before
blowing out the birthday candles may have started with that
belief. Enough of all those did-you-know trivia because at this part of
the program, our lovely and stunning Cham will blow the candles on
her birthday cake. And to complete that customary practice, let us
all sing joyfully a song I am very sure everybody is familiar with, the
happy birthday song!
Debutant makes a wish and blows the candles.
HOST: Tonights celebration tells me that the best demonstration of
gratitude in response to a wonderful experience like this one can be
contained in an overwhelming thank you. Maraming salamat po for
making me a part of this memorable occasion. And if theres one
person here tonight who is more than grateful to see all of you, that
would be our beloved celebrant, Cham. Im giving the floor to our
dear debutant to give her message for all of us.
Thank you message from Cham
HOST: The night is young, and so are we, diba? Are you ready to
party? We have just actually started. Again, thank you for having me

here to celebrate with all of you. Isang malakas na Happy birthday,

Cham! naman diyan. At the count of three1, 2, 3, HAPPY
BIRTHDAY, CHAM! Our debutant is not just a pretty face but also a
very talented lady. To get the party started, throw your hands up in
the air for CHAM with the City Lights Band! This is your host, John
Irene Del Campo, enjoy the rest of the night everyone!
Cham opens the party by a song number with City Lights Band

lady. This evening, the Serrano family takes themselves into the spotlight as they
formally introduce their beautiful daughter, once a baby now a lady.
Harold: Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. & Mrs. __________________________.
All About _____
Angel: It had been eleven years after the birth of their second son. Now blessed with two
boys, the Serrano couple was praying for a princess in the family. And one fine
________, the prayer was answered with the birth of the third of the bunch, and the
most awaited one, she was going to be named ________, _____ for shot. Surrounded
by brothers, _______ was well cared for by her siblings and her parents. A typical
example was, there usually were at least two birthday celebrations, one for the familys
friends and another for the family.
Harold: Generous, humble and thoughtful, she once asked her mom to plan a
birthday party for a friend for she knew she had more than one in a year and her friend
had none. And so it happened in what was to become a popular tambayan, the Bahay
Kubo in Dulag, welcoming all her friends, playing with them with gusto.
Angel: ______ is a certified piano and singing crowd-pleaser. But more than that, the
dance gods provided her the terpsichorean talent. With ambitions of becoming a
teacher, a fashion model and most importantly a dentist with a clinic of her own, there
can be no turning back for our debutante as she fulfills her dreams.
(production number: Father presents her daughter production number)

Welcome Speech of Meggy

Harold: Birthdays are celebrated to remind us of the magical moment of love, the
epitome of a meaning in life, a manifestation of Gods love towards all of us. Good
evening everyone, welcome to the UP Multi-purpose Hall-Eastern University of the
Philippines in the Visayas, Tacloban College.
Angel: In our gathering this evening, we cannot help but be thankful of the gift of person
in _______ who has brought us together this evening. This celebration provides us a
glimpse of the beauty and grandiosity of life. And this evening, we shall all have great
time ahead of us as we go through the different parts featured in this debut program of
our Debutante. How about a warm round of applause to our birthday celebrator, our
debutante, ______________.
Harold: The toast to life. _____s ninong _______ now leads us to the toast of
life. May I invite you to hold your goblet as we join ______s ninong to this activity.
Angel: Thank you very much ninong Raul. With the welcome message said by our
debutante, a dinner has been prepared for us by ______s family. We shall partake of
this and therefore ask for the blessing from Daddy God.
(Prayer)
Harold: Please be seated. Now for our meals this evening
Angel: While we are dining let us all be mesmerized by the serenade of the _____ Band.
Again, from all of us, bon appetite.
Surprise
(Ceremony)
Harold: Of Cakes and Happy Birthday Songs. As tradition would have it, cakes give us
an idea of the nourishment a birthday celebrator gets. Its a nourishment in all forms.

Angel: in another way of presenting the birthday cake, we witness now the dance
offering of 18 mini cakes of ______, as the baby has now become a lady.
And so ladies and gentlemen, just like any other birthdays, and with all of us witnessing
this momentous day of ______s life, we all together sing a happy birthday song, one
that everyone would here
Angel: One that all of us will be proud of as _____ turns 18. And one where happiest of
wishes are set to come trueso together(birthday song.)
(After the birthday song.)
Harold: Everyone, let us all say happy birthday! Happy birthday!
18 roses
Angel: Rosesthey touch the heart of ladies. They tell us how much love they would like
to give and its beauty is its most vivid form.
Harold: The 18 roses and the dance of ______s life shall now commence with her papa
leading her way in the hope that she finds real friends in her journey to life.
Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. _______.

18 shots
Angel: Why do we have wine for a party? A coming of age for ______ therefore
permitting her to get one Wine, a celebration of prosperity ahead of her, to explain a
few.
Harold: The 18 shots serve as _______s 18 well-wishers in her toast towards life,
living
life to the fullest with the guidance of her loved ones and Daddy God. Ladies and
gentlemen, the 18 shots
AVP

Angel: As the stage is set, ______ and her family shares with us the pre-debut photo
shoot and take us into a magical ride of photography with _______ on the spotlight,
our birthday celebrator and debutante.
After AVP
Harold: It is no secret that _______ had her dance talent honed in STEFTI. Moving up
to become one of the dance soloists in her junior and senior years, we get a glimpse of
the best of ______ and a retro with her fellow STEFTI dance troupe.
Angel: And so here now is a throw-back of her halcyon days in STEFTI as a member of
the STEFTI dance troupe. Everyone, Ms. _________.
Angel: Now youre expecting five more traits, but not this time, thats not youre fate,
those five more gifts go to you. They go to you for being you. You need to realize nothing
favors, over you and all layers, you stand on top, just dont forget, you have no worry,
not one threat.
18 memories
Angel: There always comes in our life when we want to reminisce memories, we go back
through the gifts given to us by special persons. Memories, we like to say itmemories,
we like to indulge ourselves back.
Harold: And so the memories shall now be given by 18 special people who shall give
_______ one for the ages. Ladies and gentlemen the 18 Memories

18 blue bills
Harold: Our debut this evening has been filled with different symbolisms in the hope
that each symbol becomes a part of of her growth.
Angel: Ladies and gentlemen, we shall now have 18 blue bills. A prosperity tree should
help us witness through how generosity and the hope of financial bliss should go
through her life.

Harold: The prosperity tree shall stand as witness to this event as _____ shall plant this
and together grow with it. Itll remind her that when she was 18, 18 of her loved ones
and friends stood for this generosity.
Harold: We all started our evening with the presentation of our debutante Ms.
__________. We were mesmerized and we somehow felt as if this has got to happen
only in the television. However, ______ made all of this happen, her loving parents,
together with her siblings made this happen.
Angel: This evening will not be over until our ______ says her thank yous to everyone,
but not on the usual terms that we know of, but rather on her own termsthrough
dancing. And so ladies and gentlemen, Ms. __________________.
After dance
Angel: Although we cannot tell what can happen to our lives, but our gathering has
shown us a collective agreement that we shall all be ready to help her and to pray with
her in her lifes journey.
Harold: While she has turned 18, we shall look forward to form stronger bonds of
friendship and of family love and care only all of us here can share with ______.
Angel: Weve seen great things transpire this evening. Weve seen the art of
presentation go through its magnificence.
Harold: For life to be lived to the fullest, we share ourselves for others.
Angel: Good night everyone. The formal program ends but the party has just started.
Dance, dance and dance for all of us to enjoy.

A memorable debut celebration relies on an engaging program with a

smooth flow. Planning the debut program is importantyou don't want a
lull in your party lest someone takes that as a signal for an (embarrassing)
impromptu number, right?
Check out our sample program for a hitch-free debut party.

Cocktail Hour (20 minutes)

Your guests may arrive at varying times. Before the program starts, you can
have a cocktail hour, where your guests can munch on appetizers before the
actual dinner. If you have a photo booth or other activity booths, you
may also ask guests to enjoy them before the program starts.

Welcome Remarks, Debutante's Grand Entrance (10 minutes)

You want your grand entrance to be as breathtaking as it can be. To set the
tone for the evening, consider having a creative entrance that
complements your party's theme. This is also the time for the host to
introduce your folks, who have so generously given you a wonderful debut
party.
Cotillion de Honor (10 minutes)
While everyone's energy level is still up, perform the cotillion de honor with
your entourage. This is one of the highlights of your debut (you spent
days practicing that routine!), so make sure that everyone is settled in their
seats before you start.

Dinner (1 hour)
Let your guests enjoy their meal by employing background music at
dinnertime. To add a cozy feel to your debut, you can either hire a band to

sing ballads or play soothing instrumental songs. While your guests enjoy
desserts, you can go around to take photos with your guests.
The 18 Roses, Candles, and Treasures (40 minutes)
The 18 Roses, Candles, and Treasures can take long, since you'll involve lots
of participants. Save time by asking your coordinator to gather the
participants before the program starts. Also, ask your participants to
keep their speeches short but sweet.
Games (15 minutes)
Keep your guests' energy at high by holding and giving out prizes to the
winners. One of the games can be as simple as having your guests
answer questions about you.
Intermission number (10 minutes)
Showcase your talents and keep all eyes on you. This would be a great time
to show off your dancing or singing skills. You can also play an
instrument or other numbers to entertain your guests.
Happy Birthday Song, Thank-you Speech (5 minutes)
After you've blown out the flames from your birthday candles, thank
everyone who attended and your debut. You need not to have long speech--a
heartfelt one would let your guests feel that they are valued. Don't forget
to thank your folks and other people who helped you organize the party as
well!
Dancing (1 hour or longer)
End your debut with a bang! Take to the dance floor and encourage your
guests dance the night away. Ask the DJ to play your guests' favorite
songs so that they'll enjoy dancing even more. Surely, your guests will
remember your party for ages.

TURNING 18 AND LOVING IT:

UNDERSTANDING THE SYMBOLS OF
DEBUT CELEBRATIONS

Originally, a
debut was intended to introduce a young woman into society as a marriage
prospect. This event was orchestrated as a formal banquet to attract bachelors
from prominent and rich families. In the modern day, many still celebrate this
event. As a girl nears 18, her family begins to plan the momentous
occasionmonths in advance by selecting the ideal venue, debut
catering package, designer, and events planners.
However, the difference between then and now is that women have more options
open to them than just marriagecontinued education and a professional career
among them. Thus, on her special day, its important that a debutante is
reminded that she is so much more than what the world may be telling her to be.
The typical debut programs are more than just entertainment, pomp, and blare
they are meant to teach, encourage, and inspire.

THE COTILLION

One of the most prominent parts of a girls debut is the cotillion, which often
involves 9 pairs of dancers performing either a formal waltz or dance number.
This part of the program can take place either at the beginning or at the end of
the event. The members of the cotillion court must choreograph and practice a
dance months prior the event. Following the dance, members of the cotillion
court may then serve as the debutantes escorts, thus representing those who
will help guide the debutante in her life journey.
A debutante does not just sneak into the venue or walk about unseen. She must
come out on her own with a grand entrance and a killer dress to boot. The
debutante is often escorted to a seat of honor by members of the cotillion court to
symbolize her entrance into breaking out into as a grown woman.

THE 18 ROSES
For a lot of girls, the 18 roses is a highlight of the debut program. It represents a
girls readiness in the area of romance, as was the original purpose of the debut.
The first rose is usually given by the debutantes father to symbolize something
that is both beautiful and thorny. He is then followed by the other male
members of the family, as the protectors of the girl. The remaining men in the 18
Roses lineup are friends of the debutante, and the person selected as either the
second-to-the-last rose or the last rose is the girls special someone.

THE 18 CANDLES
After the 18 Roses, the 18 Candles program transitions from the romance aspect
to the girl as an independent member of society. It involves the women who are
important to the debutanteas advisors, teachers, and trusted peers. These
women give speeches and advice, and state their well-wishes for the debutante.
They then each light a candle that symbolizes lightlight that will guide the girl
on her life journey. Once all 18 candles have been lit, they are placed on the
debutantes birthday cake and blown out.

THE 18 TREASURE
As the debutante celebrates the beginning of womanhood, she will need tools
that either help her in the future, encourage her in the present, or give her
something fond to look back on. In the 18 Treasures program, friends and family
members are tasked to give the debutante special gifts or tokens, and explain
how they will become inspirations for her. These treasures represent the
friendship between the giver and the debutante, because they indicate how well
they know each other.
A debut is an event that is once-in-a-lifetime for many girls. Its more than just an
extravagant birthday partyits a celebration of life, and of whats to come.

Sample Program for Debut Party: An outline

A Debut Program flow usually last for aorund 3-4 hours and most of the time is being spent on
dining and the dances (18 roses dance, cottillion dance, intermission number, or dance
performance by the debutante).
Here is a sample flow of an event for debut party or 18th birthday celebration. You can twist, add
or move some of the items on the debut program outline below.
Welcoming of Guests
This includes registration. If you have a photobooth, you can instruct them to go directly to the
booth.
Hmmm I think that you no longer need to tell them.
AVP
This AVP can contain introduction of the debutante. Who is the birthday girl? This can showcase
the magical transformation of the debutante from a simple girl to an attractive lady.
Grand entrance of debutante
It can continue where the last slide AVP ended. Debutante can wear the same dress from the
last scene on AVP. If you have smoke and spotlight effect, this is the time to use them!
Parent's talk
This is the part where the parent or a family member will say welcome and enjoy the party
Toast for Debutante
Toast. Cheers!!
Audio Visual Presentation
Everything that the first AVP failed to share. This one can focus on the present like
the debutatante's present looks, hobbies, present friends, present boyfriend.
Prayer
A moment of silence to thank God.
Dining
One of the most awaited part of every birthday party is the dining. Be sure to give enough time.
You can conduct some fun games while the other guests are lining up for their food or waiting to
be served.
18 roses dance
Time for the knights to come! (time to spot who can't dance)
18 candles
18 candles can also deliver short speeches or wishes
Birthday song
Happy birthday, Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday to You!!
(No need to distribute the lyrics)

Blowing of cake
1...2..3.. blooow. (Repeat if debutante forget to make her wish)
Cotillion Waltz dance
This can be a mix of traditional dance and modern dance.
Father and Daugther Dance
One of the most emotional part
Closing Remarks/ Debutante Speech
This is the time to pass the microphone to debutante and say thank you for coming in her
special day and in giving an awesome party. It will look good if the debutante can avoid reading
on written script.
Party
Anyone who didn't have the chance to dance in cotillion and in 18 roses can join now

That's it. Anything you want to add on this debut program outline?
What? Longer time for speech? More food?
I'll aim to write for a debut script for emcee next.
Thanks for reading

11 THINGS YOU MUST DO IN PLANNING

A DEBUT
February 7, 2016 by nineglazeparty Leave a Comment

The celebration of young ladys 18th birthday comes once. Its an event when
a girl comes of age. For many teenagers, its a special moment of their lives.
Its probably second to a wedding. Teens from various countries celebrate it
differently. Their parents are willing to throw them a big party for their young
lady, wholl soon be in college.
But planning for a big party isnt an easy task. There are several things youll
have to think about when planning. With this guide, youll be able to throw a
nice, elegant birthday party that doesnt have to be a nightmare. Youll know
that having a nice, memorable party doesnt have to put a hole in your wallet.
1. Know the number of guests
The family must come first on the list. Then, the girls very close friends. The
list must contain all the people you want to invite or consider sending
invitations to. A typical 18th party consists of 100 guests. But it can go up to
200 people.
2. Find a venue
Now that you know the number of people you want to come, you can decide
the right venue. To cut down the overall cost, you may use your own house,
i.e. if its large enough to accommodate more than 100 guests. If its too small,
however, you can always rent a space for that special day. But make sure that
the venue has kitchen, bathrooms, electrical outlets and enough parking

spaces for the guests. You should also look into your local directory to find
party rentals and tables.
3. Make the invitations
To make things a lot easier, you can just order the invitations and have the
company sent them to the guests. Choose an invitation that has a touch of
elegance. The usual colors are white, ivory and pastel with a hint of black,
gold and silver lettering. To give the invitations classier look, select a textured
card.
4. Plan for the court and cotillion
Traditional debut involves a royal court that has 18 males and 18 females.
Theyre usually the peers of the debutante or her relatives. Some teenagers
would opt for their brothers, sisters, or best friends. The males hold the 18
flowers. Each of these males will share a dance with the celebrator but the
last dance is reserved for the father of the lady or her escort. In organizing for
the court, youll need to choose whos going to be the escort. He can be the
best male friend, suitor or boyfriend.
The 18 females will are the 18 candles. Their role is to give a short speech. It
can be their wishes for the debutante or describe her relationship with the
celebrator.
5. Send out the invitations
Once youve organized everything, its time to send out the invitations. It must
be weeks in advance, if you want people to come on that date.
6. Hire dance instructors

Theyll be the one to lead the dances. In this way, the cotillion will flow
smoothly. They can also teach the debutante some pointers on how to walk
and move properly during that day. Most of the time, the person whos
planning to have the cotillion can act as instructor. However, if you dont know
how to do it, then its better to hire someone to ensure that the event will be a
success.
7. Hire a band
The list of music must include classic tracks. But modern songs can also be
played by the band. Hiring a band isnt a requirement. However, if you want
your guests to be entertained, then youll have to do it.
8. Plan the decorations
You should consider decorating the place in advance. It could be a few days
before the party. When the day arrives, the venue will have flower bouquets,
attractive linens and wreaths. The entrance of the venue must have
decorations with tall plants. The flowers may have shades of light yellow,
lavender, baby pink and peach.
9. Choose the menu
Its ideal to serve at least 3 courses. If youre hiring a caterer (which is highly
recommended), youll have to ask the caterer to deliver the food items a few
hours before the event. In this way, youll have time to set them on the table.
10. Select the dress
Itll be the debutante call on what to wear. Most of the time, debutantes opt for
a dress thatll make them feel like a real princess. Let your daughter or the
celebrator to read a magazine and browse through plenty of options.

11. Hire a stylist

A few weeks before the event, the debutante must meet with the stylist to
discuss her look. She may bring a photo of her gown so the stylist will have an
idea of the kind of look the celebrator likes to have on that very special day of
her life.
As the planner of this event, your role is to make the entire day as special as
possible.

NOTE: Edit some things out (like the name) to make it more personalized First of all, I
would like to wish my girl, Anna Marie a Happy 18th Birthday. I would also like to thank
everyone for coming tonight. I am hoping you guys are having a great time. I am not
really good at making speeches so i will make this one short but sweet. Anna, you are a
lady now and now you will be standing on your own two feet and do everything yourself.
Life is a roller coaster so do your best to hang on and enjoy the ride. Do not let go when
you are scared or troubled, me and your dad will be there when you need us. Do not be
shy to ask us for advice either, remember, we went through the same path when we
were your age. Us, your family and your friends will always be there for you so be strong
and make everyone proud. I love you, Anna. Happy birthday.
