Warehouse Management
Advanced Features

Advanced Wave Planning

Minimizing material movements, optimizing labor resources, and tightly

integrating warehouse activities with transportation planning. Using
Oracle Wave planning,Oracle WMS can fulfill a large number of orders
quickly by streamlining the full execution process. Advanced Wave
Planning also includes task planning features that can be used to
group and dispatch tasks based on a execution criteria.

Warehouse Management
Advanced Features

Demand Driven Replenishment to Forward Pick Locations

Oracle WMS offers Push and Pull based replenishments to forward

pick area for warehouse to efficiently pick high volume of order lines.

Pull Replenishment automatically created a task when shortage is detected.

Push Replenishment allows a warehouse to effectively manage a surge in
demand promotions by replenishing a forward pick area based on future
demand visibility of an item

Warehouse Management
Advanced Features

Crossdocking
Synchronizing warehouse material handling with transportation
activities, eliminating unnecessary inbound steps and reduce pick time in
outbound flows.

Planned and Opportunistic Crossdocking : Oracle WMS can identify

crossdocking opportunities in the warehouse by matching expected receipts
with outbound shipments and manufacturing component requirements using
flexible crossdock rules.Crossdock rules allow the users to have greater
control over supply and demand eligibility for crossdocking and minimize the
product wait time in outbound staging areas before getting crossdocked.

Picking
Once the orders are released,Oracle WMS uses the Rules engine for
Material allocations. After the system completes the allocations, the Task
type assignment engine assigns the appropriate task types. Now the task is
ready to dispatch to an operator. The operator can then log onto the
system, that is sing onto materila handling device and accept pick tasks. This
complete the Picking Process.
In Oracle WMS we have the following types of Picking.

Cluster Pick

Discrete Pick

Order Pick

Wave Pick

Pick by Label

OWMS Transaction Feature

Bulk Pick

Paper-Based Pick

Pick and Pass/Label Picking

Zone Pick

Cluster Pick : A specified number of clusters is dispatched to a single user

atonce. A cluster is defined as all the tasks related to a sales order delivery,
or a manufacturing job or schedule. Clusters are comprised of a group of
tasks associated to a delivery or cartonization group for a sales order,
manufacturing job, or schedule.

OWMS Transaction Feature

Discrete Pick : System dispatches discrete group of tasks, manufacturing
pick tasks.
Order Pick : The system assigns picks for one order or job/schedule at a
time to a user. Thus, when a user accepts a task for the first line of a
job/schedule or sales order, all other picking tasks associated with that
job/schedule or order are automatically assigned to the user as well,
regardless of the task type or subinventory.
Wave Pick : The system dispatches tasks line by line, regardless of the
subinventories in which those tasks are picked from, or to whom the line on
the order has been dispatched to.
Pick by Label : Picking by pre-defined LPN number, used mostly in
cartonization.
Zone Pick
: The system assigns picks for a given order or job/schedule in
a given subinventory to a user. Thus, if a user accepts a task for the first line
of a job/schedule or sales order, all other lines on that job/schedule or order
that are sourced from that subinventory are assigned to the user.

OWMS Transaction Feature

Bulk Pick : The system groups tasks to pick the same items that are sourced from the
same locator so you only see one task that might represent picks for several order
lines. Deconsolidation of order lines occur at pick drop. Warehouse management
automatically splits bulk tasks based on equipment constraints during the pick
release process. You can choose to bulk pick items at pick release via the pick slip
grouping rules, or choose to use the concurrent program to bulk pick across pick
waves after pick release. You can also bulk pick within a delivery or across deliveries.
The following bulk pick exceptions apply:
The system does not allow bulk picking for cartonized items
The bulk picked item must be the same revision
Note: Tasks for which particular LPNs have been allocated will not be merged
considered for merging with any other tasks. IfBulk Picking is desired, use an
Allocation Mode that does not allocate specific LPNs.

OWMS Transaction Feature

Paper Based Pick : Users pick according to a paper pick slip that is printed
at pick release. This enables a user to dispatch tasks to themselves when
working in a paper-assisted environment.
Pick and Pass/Label Picking : LPNs are generated by the system during
Cartonization and the labels are printed prior to picking. In order to pick, the
user scans the LPN and is dispatched the picking task that is associated
with that LPN. The user can then pass the LPN to the next user or continue
picking all material for the LPN and will not be prompted to drop the LPN in
the staging lane until all of the lines have been picked.

OWMS Transaction Feature

Receiving
Oracle WMS inbound logistics refers to receiving, inspection and
put away processes within the warehouse. Main features are as follows

Support for ASN.

Functionality to receive material directly into LPN.

Feature to enter lot and serial number while receiving.

Functionality to automate the matching of material received to expected.

Opportunistic cross docking for back-ordered sales order lines.

Support for Oracle Quality.

Support for Operation Plans.

Support for N step material movement path.

OWMS Transaction Feature

Inbound Features
Optional Inbound Material Inspections : System allows to receive the
material,if want we can inspect the material, this can be done using Oracle
Purchasing Inspection or using Oracle Quality. If selected for Inspection, all
quantities with in an LPN must be inspected.
System assigned cost groups : At the time of receipt, the system will
assign a cost-group providing that we have set them up for the incoming
material, this will help to separate Physical inventory accounting from
standard cost group accounting.
System suggested put-away locations : Using the WMS rules engine, the
system will suggest an optimal put away location for inbound material.
Note : Put away locations are enforced by the system and therefore,we
can override them at the time of put away.

OWMS Transaction Feature

Work flow enabled discrepancy actions: If you override a put away
suggestion at the time of put away, then you must provide a reason for the
change. We can optionally build workflow notifications ad corrective actions
that are triggered on put away override reasons.
System suggested opportunistic cross-docking : If you enable cross
docking for your warehouse, then before suggesting a put away location, the
WMS will attempt to cross-dock inbound material directly to an outbound
staging area to fulfill backordered sales order lines.
Packing Station : We can pack inbound material using the packing
workbench,If packing station resides inside receiving subinventory, then
packing can only be done for inbound material.
Note : Oracle WMS supports Express and Confirm mode of receipt. For
Express document number is enough and optionally the LPN,for
Confirmation mode need to enter all the information about the item being
received.

OWMS Transaction Feature

Cycle Count
Cycle Counting : Cycle counting is the periodic counting of
individual items throughout the course of the year to ensure the accuracy of
inventory quantities and values. Accurate system onhand quantities are
essential for managing supply and demand, maintaining high service
levels,and planning production.
Before performing cycle counts using the mobile device,we
must have already set up Oracle Inventory ABC classes and groups, and
must have submitted a request to generate count requests. Also new fields
have been added to the cycle count Header Form that support the
discrepancy options related to LPN. There are two types of counting.

Summary Counting

Detail Counting
Summary Counting : Scanning the entire LPN,then the system assumes
that the contents that are supposed to be in the LPN actually exist.
Detail Counting : Scanning each and very item residing inside the LPN.

OWMS Transaction Feature

For WMS enabled plants, when cycle counts are scheduled, then the tasks
will be generated for cycle counts, then those tasks would be assigned to a
qualified operator.
Note : WMS cycle count only supports one cycle count task type.

Physical Counting
Physical Inventory : Reconciliation of system
maintained item on-hand balances with actual counts of inventory.
Its is done once in a year or twice.
Oracle WMS enables to perform Physical counting, using the
mobile device. Before we perform Physical inventory we must
defined physical inventory and generated the PI tags in Oracle
Inventory. Like Cycle Counting,it does not generate any tasks for
Physical inventory. In mobile device,we can enter the physical
inventory name

OWMS Transaction Feature

Pack/Unpack
Pack : We can pack the loose material into a LPN. If the
material to pack is under revision control, then enter the revision(CTRL+G is
the shortcut key to generate a new LPN),but the material to be packed can
have any LPN,that exists in the locator or defined but not used.

Unpack : We can unpack the material from an LPN. If the

material is lot controlled, then we must enter the lot quantity as well.

Cross-Docking
Cross-Docking : Cross-docking is the use of inbound receipts
to satisfy outbound demands.Matching Outbound shipments to scheduled
receipts in advance.

OWMS Transaction Feature

Oracle WMS supports two types of cross docking.
Planned Cross Docking
Opportunistic Cross Docking

Planned Cross Docking :

Planned CD occurs during pick release. When you run pick release, the
system uses the allocation method to determine whether cross dock should
be planned.CD should be planned based on the cross dock criteria. If CD
criteria is not defined then system uses the rules workbench to determine
the appropriate planned cross dock criteria to use for the demand.

Opportunistic Cross Docking :

Opportunistic Cross Docking is supply initiated.
