Delhi girl Priyadarshini Chatterjee has bagged the crown for FBB Femina Miss India World; she will
now go on to represent India at the Miss World 2016 pageant.
Bangalore girl Sushruthi Krishna emerged as the 1st runner-up and Lucknow girl Pankhuri Gidwani was
the 2nd runner-up of the contest.
Priyanka Chopra to be conferred with Dadasaheb Phalke Film

Foundation Award 2016
Actress Priyanka Chopra will be given Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation's "Best Actress of the Year"
award.
This would be Priyanka's second award from the Foundation after she received her first award for 'Most
Memorable Performance' for 2011 film Saath Khoon Maaf.
The award shall be given for Bajirao Mastani

India's GDP to be 7.7 pc in 2017 and 7.5 pc in 2016: WB
India's economic activity is expected to accelerate from 7.5 per cent in FY 2016 to 7.7 per cent in FY 2017
based on the expectation of strong private investment, a push in infrastructure spending, an improved
investment climate, and improved corporate and financial balance sheets.
In neighbouring Pakistan, growth is projected to accelerate modestly from 4.5 per cent in 2016 to 4.8 per
cent in 2017.
In Sri Lanka the economic growth is expected to grow at 5.3 per cent in 2016 and 2017.

With his four wickets for 22 runs in the match, Bravo became the first bowler in T20s to reach the
milestone of 300 wickets. He went past Lasith Malingas 299 wickets in T20s as the Sri Lankan bowler
has been lying low due to injuries in the past few months.

India's growth pegged at 7.5% for 2016-17; global economic

expansion estimated at 3.2%
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) retained India's growth projections for 2016-17 at 7.5 per cent,
while it cut global economic expansion by two percentage points to 3.2 per cent for 2016 and one
percentage point to 3.5 per cent in 2017.
For 2015-16, Indias growth was pegged at 7.5 per cent, a shade lower than official estimate of 7.6 per
cent.

RBI gave in-principle approval to Airtel payments bank
Airtel M Commerce Services (AMSL), a subsidiary of Bharti Airtel, on 11 April 2016 was granted the first
payments bank license from Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
AMSL is a wholly owned subsidiary of Airtel, which offers mobile money services under the brand name
Airtel Money.
Maha CM Fadnavis launches mission drinking water, says

investors confidence intact despite drought
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis launched Mission Drinking Water.

The Centre and the state are working together to reach out to drought-stricken districts of Marathwada.
The Maharashtra Drought Relief Committee headed by Agriculture Minister Eknath Khadse and
Opposition leader Radhakrishna Patil has been constituted.
Through the drinking water schemes, 83 projects are being pushed in 11,000 villages for immediate relief.

BRICS NDB sanctions $250 million for India's renewable energy
scheme
India was among the first four countries to get a loan from the newly established BRICS (Brazil, Russia,
India, China and South Africa) New Development Bank (NDB) which gave a $250 million funding to
Canara Bank for a renewable energy project.
The China-based NDB has approved four green renewable energy projects from India, China, Brazil and
South Africa entailing Bank financing of $811 million.
The project from India entails provisioning of a multi-tranche loan of $250 million to Canara Bank for
lending to renewable energy ventures.
The project will result in generation of 500 MW of renewable energy and savings of about 800,000 tonnes
of carbon emissions.
April 14 declared as Bindeshwar Pathak Day by New York Mayor
In a rare honour, New York City declared this years April 14 as Bindeshwar Pathak Day in recognition
of the contributions made by the Indian social activist and Sulabh International founder for improving the
lives of people engaged in the most dehumanising situation.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio honoured Pathak for his outstanding work to improve health and
hygiene and moving the world forward.
Pathak was presented with the New York Global Leaders Dialogue Humanitarian Award earlier.
