oilbyadditivesandcontaminants.Emulsifiedwaterwillseverelyaltertheloadhandlingability
ofanoil.Whentemperatureandpressureareappliedtoacontaminatedfluid,theoxidation
processissignificantlyaccelerated,leadingtoprematuredegradation.Internalcorrosionand
rustwillalsoresultinallareasofthesystem.Whenanoilhasemulsifiedwater,itwilltakeona
hazyormilkyappearance.

3. Freewaterdescribeswaterthatispresentintheoil,butnotheldinsuspension.Sinceoiland
waterdontmix,anoilsbasestockwillbeconstantlytryingtoseparatefromwater.Without
additivesorcontaminantstobondwiththewater,itwillseparaterapidlyandsettletothe
bottomoftheoil.Freewaterwillbevisibleinanoilasaseparatephaseatthebottomoftheoil
