Chapter 2

2.1 Size of researched population

Because the researched population is any complete group of
entities like people, stores, students, companies that share some
3

common set of characteristics, I choose for my marketing research to

talk about the red gym and the opinions of the students from the
Transilvania University and because of that I made the research
online the research population is equal with 2000 peoples.

2.2 Sampling
2.2.1 Sample size
The sample size is a crucial element of quantitative marketing
research. Identifying the proper sample size is based on statistical
theory. Determination of sample size is made according to the
population parameters.
The formula for sample size:
n=

z 2 p q
E2

z=1,96
p=50
Binary

q=50
(100-p)
questions
E=3% or 5%
n1 =

32
2

1,96 50 50
n2=
=384 persons(for an error of 5 )

2.2.2 Sampling method

For my marketing research I use the Cluster sampling method.
An economically efficient sampling technique in which the
primary sampling unit is not the individual element in the
population but a large cluster of elements. It is often used in
marketing research, when a sampling frame is not available. The
population is divided in clusters, usually on territorial basis.
Some clusters are selected randomly, and all the people belonging
to these clusters are included in the sample.

3.2 Specifying the type of scale for each question

For the questions 1, 2 and 16 I used the nominal scale, more exactly
the dichotomous scale.
For the questions 3,7,9,12,13 and 15 I used the nominal scale with a
single response.
For the questions 4,5,8 and 11 I used numerical scale more exactly
ordinal scale.
For the question number 10 I used nominal scale with multiple
responses.
For the questions 6 and 14 I used open responses questions.

Conclusions and recommendations

In conclusion the students from the Transilvania university go
to the gym and love to practice a sport. They are satisfied with
the with the cleanliness and hygiene. But they would like to
have variety of products at the end of the day, and they would
like to learn how to practice self-defense.
My recommendations for this problems are:
-To have a bigger staff for a short waiting time.
-The program to start early at 10:00 am.
-To bring more fitness supliments at the end of the day.
