What is StorageCraft ShadowProtect?

StorageCraft ShadowProtect Server, ShadowProtect Small Business

Server, ShadowProtect Desktop, and ShadowProtect Virtual give
you fast and reliable disaster recovery, data protection, and system
migration to get servers, desktops, laptops, and virtual machines
online as quickly as possible.
The legendary reliability of ShadowProtect includes bare metal
recovery to the same system, to new hardware, or to and from virtual
environments. Protect your entire systemincluding the operating
system, applications, services, and your data.

How does ShadowProtect work?

StorageCraft ShadowProtect best-in-class disaster recovery

technology takes a snapshot of your system at a specific point in
time. You can set it to take backup images of your system throughout
the day, while you continue to work, without ever shutting down
the system. This award-winning technology lets you:
Recover from bare metal, to new hardware, or to and from
virtual environments.
Perform granular recovery of individual files and folders by
mounting a ShadowProtect backup image as a drive.
Migrate to a brand new Windows system or to a virtual
machine.
Boot any ShadowProtect backup image as a VM with
StorageCraft VirtualBoot.
Automatically mount and validate ShadowProtect backup
image files with StorageCraft ImageReady.

Steps to install StorageCraft

ShadowProtect:

1. Insert your ShadowProtect CD into your CD/DVD drive.

2. If your machine is set to autorun, you will see the installation
splash screen where you may select the ShadowProtect
installation. If the CD/DVD does not autorun, please browse to
the Installers directory on the CD and select the ShadowProtect
installation .exe file.
3. Select the setup language you wish to use and click OK.
4. You will need to accept the StorageCraft end user license
agreement.
5. You may perform a Complete install or a Custom install.
The Custom install allows you to install components of
ShadowProtect separately.
6. Select Install.
7. Once installation is complete, your system will need to reboot
before you may begin using ShadowProtect.

Get Started:

Create a backup

Select the Backup Wizard from the

main screen.

Create a scheduled
backup.

Select the Schedule Backup Wizard

from the main screen.

Restore a volume.

Select the Restore Wizard from the

main screen.

Restore files and folders.

Select the Browse or Restore Files

Wizard from the main screen.

Start the ShadowProtect

Recovery Environment.

Boot the product CD (or the recovery

disc you created from the StorageCraft
Recovery Environment .ISO) and
select Load StorageCraft Recovery
Environment.

Mount an existing backup.

Select the Browse or Restore Files

Wizard from the main screen.

Dismount a backup.

Select the Backup Image Dismount

option under the Tasks pane.

Restore your system.

Boot the product CD (or the recovery

disc you created from the StorageCraft
Recovery Environment .ISO) and
select Load StorageCraft Recovery
Environment. Select the Restore
Wizard from the main screen.

Migrate to a new system,

to new hardware, or to a
new virtual machine.

Boot the product CD (or the recovery

disc you created from the StorageCraft
Recovery Environment .ISO) and
select Load StorageCraft Recovery
Environment. Select the Restore
Wizard from the main screen.
