Why study in Germany ?

Fees for the course (to be paid to PSG) for first 3 years

A recent
British Council
survey has revealed that
German higher education
institutions are the most
internationalized ones.
This ranking compares the
higher education systems
in 12 countries on various
factors such as accessibility,
support for foreign students, quality, acceptance of degrees
worldwide and the extent of mobility of University academics to
study.

Although English is a must, German is a plus

Most people regard English as essential, but knowing another
foreign language can improve ones career opportunities in the
globalised world.

The IGCHE is a Consortium of German universities currently

led by Bochum University of Applied Sciences.

German is one of the most important technical languages and is

spoken by over 125 million people worldwide.

For each programme stream, a distinct University has been

identified to coordinate programme specific activities. Presently
the IGCHE consists of six different German Universities and
the number is expected to increase in near future.

Universities & Courses

Every student of the programme is assured of admission to

one of the German Universities that are the members of the
IGCHE.
All IGCHE Universities are accredited to assure high quality
education and have a strong international focus. Due to the
small number of students per University, they are assured of
intensive support and mentoring.

Studying and Living in Germany

The safety in German
cities is very high on
international rankings.
The police can always
be asked for help and
advice and can be
called free from every
phone by dialing 110.
IGCHE Universities are
all located in safe areas
and in comparably smaller cities. Currently the biggest city of
the consortium is Dsseldorf with 5,80,000 inhabitants which is
small compared to more than 2 million inhabitants in Coimbatore
and 5 million in Chennai.
Students will get a public transport ticket for travelling in a large
area around their University (usually the whole state) without
additional costs. Germany has a very dense and good public
transport system. Therefore students can visit other cities for
sightseeing, shopping and other fun activities without spending
additional money.
All Universities of Applied Sciences have similar facilities on the
campus:
Cafeteria
Library
Computer centres
Sport programmes
International Office
In order to get entry into Germany, students need to prove their
financial support. It is required to certify the availability of at least
7,776 Euros at ones disposal for one year.

The table below shows the approximate expenses student

may incur in Germany. However additional costs like flight
to Germany, fee for the visa and administrative fees of about
1500 Euros are not included.

During the stay at Germany there is a possibility for students

to earn some income through part time jobs and paid
internship in the final semester.
Many students in Germany take a part-time job to supplement
their parental allowance.
Students from non-EU countries are allowed to work 90 full
days or 180 half days without a work permit. In most cases
the students can also expect a payment for their internship.
The salary depends on the size of the company and other
variables, so it is not possible to give exact figures. Based
on experience, it can be as much as 400 Euros per month.
