Teacher invites pupils to sing Open the book
song. She gives encouragement and praise
like: well done, (name), you are really good
at this.
She takes some flashcards to elicit
vocabulary for this lesson. She holds them up
one at a time and asks: Whats this? She
models any words that children don't know.
Teacher asks children to open their Class
Book on page 14 and look at the exercise 1.
There are 5 new words for them. She plays
the first part of the recording for children to
listen and point to appropriate picture. She
repeats if it is necessary. She plays the
second part of the recording for children to
repeat.
She plays the recording all the way through
again for children to listen and point and then
repeat the words in chorus. . She puts
flashcards 30 -34 in different places around
the classroom. She says the words for
children to point to the correct cards and
repeat.

Teacher asks students to listen and repeat the


chant. She plays the chant a second time for
children to say the words. This time they can
point to the correct flashcard, when they hear
it.

story. She points to Rosy and asks: Who's
this? She does the same with Tim. She also
asks children to name as many things in the

and tell what it is happening. She walks
around the class and motivates them to talk.
She encourages predictions from different
members of the class. T asks children to look
at the poster while she plays the recording for
them to listen. She points to each speech
bubble in turn as she hears the text.
