The following is a submission letter. The letter includes competencies attained in the
WOW BSW program.

SUBMISSION
The BSW WOW program has assisted the generalist social worker toward
learning how to the create survey instruments and the importance of there use.
Additionally, the student has learned how to effectively collect data, perform fieldwork,
work with individuals and groups, and well as perform outreach. The learning process
has been highly rewarding and helped to further my desire to become a social worker and
peruse an MSW. I aspire to become a Clinical Social Worker with a concentration in
Gerontology.
Moreover, the program provided information in understanding the career of a
social Worker and their work to determine peoples needs. Social workers help people to
solve their problems and provide them with coping skills to assist them with the vast
challenges of everyday life. The student has also learned how Social Workers' assist
people with a wide range of situations, including and not limited to-adoption, serious
illness and addiction. Additionally, how Clinical Social Workers' diagnose and treat
mental, behavioral, emotional issues. Further, the student learned how policy affects the
career of a social worker. It determines who will be viewed as a consumer, what duties a
social worker will perform, what services are provided, and the length of time they will
be supplied.
Also, the student learned how policy creation appears to be congruent with the
social work code of ethics. A social welfare policy is created to be compatible with
overall social justice and democracy for all of society. As a professional social worker,
social welfare policy allows one to see a need or circumstance that affects many and have
the power to create change to conditions and the lives of many. Lastly the formal
education acquired in Social Work has equipped one with the ability to make a

positive contribution to ones community.
In conclusion, the as a student one has learned that social workers are
professionally trained interventionist; working research as evidence based agents of
change; in areas of advocacy, organizing, navigation, mediation and community service
leaders. The work of a Social worker encompasses the promotion and support of
individual and community well being and they are and engage in the battle for social
justice for all.

Social workers are needed throughout the human lifespan to lend

assistance to individuals for the many life challenges and various situations.
The BSW WOW program has provide one professional training to recognize and
understand the interrelated relationships between people, families, communities,
neighborhoods, policy and societal laws.

As a generalist social worker one know

understand how these relationships are interconnected and require balance and often
intervening; to prevent breaks that can possibly result in fracture and bring about
problems. Social workers seeking to assist individuals, groups and communities lead
self-determined lives. As a social worker, one will help people find resources within
themselves to become the agents of change for their lives.
