Course Description:
Introduction to managing the development, design and construction of buildings. Examination of project
management for the total development process, including inter-relationships between owners, developers,
financing sources, designers, contractors and users; methods of project delivery; introduction to planning
and scheduling; role and tasks of the project manager, feasibility analyses; construction claims, financing
and cash flow analysis; government regulations; environmental and social constraints; introduction to
control of cost, time and technical performance; human factors; computer applications. A project.

The most common offense under the Academic Code of Conduct is plagiarism which the Code
defines as the presentation of the work of another person as ones own or without proper
acknowledgement.
This could be material copied word for word from books, journals, internet sites, professors course
notes, etc. It could be material that is paraphrased but closely resembles the original source. It could be

the work of a fellow student, for example, an answer on a quiz, data for a lab report, a paper or
assignment completed by another student. It might be a paper purchased through one of the many
available sources. Plagiarism does not refer to words alone, it can also refer to copying images,
graphs, tables, and ideas. Presentation is not limited to written work. It also includes oral
presentations. Computer assignments and artistic works. Finally, if you translate the work of another
person into French or English and do not cite the source, this is also plagiarism.

Exam Policy:
Exams will cover material given in class (lectures, notes, handouts, slides, homework, etc.). Exams are
closed-book, closed-notes. A sheet that includes most formulas related to the exam questions will be
attached, if necessary. A grade of zero will be assigned for missed exams. No make-up exams and No
exams will be returned.

Attendance Policy:
Regular attendance is expected and encouraged. Each student is responsible for all material and
administrative instructions given during the lecture period. Instructions will not be repeated outside of
class. Eating, chewing, sleeping, talking, cell phone use or working on other assignments will lower the
students participation grade and is inappropriate, discourteous, and inexcusable.

Lecture notes and handouts are part of our class. You are responsible for reviewing these
materials. The exams and quizzes are going to cover them.
Study the presented material directly after class to cope with the different course
materials that we study. This will shorten your time of study.
Dont study to pass the course only, study to get benefit from the course.
Study beyond what is given in this course.

Term Project Rules:


Done in groups.
Minimum 3 students and maximum 5 students per group
Each group has to select one project management area and carry a research with a case study on
such area
Each group should give me their names, student IDs, and the title of their selected topic
maximum by Monday, July 04, 2016
A hard and soft copy of the project are to be submitted
Also, the PowerPoint presentation copy is to be submitted
The hard and soft copy due date is on Wednesday July 27, 2016 (submitted in my office during
the office hours)
The originality form should be submitted and signed with the term project (see Moodle)
Use the cover page provided (see Moodle)
Electronic submissions will NOT be accepted
The PowerPoint presentation copy is to be submitted on the same day of the presentation on a
CD/DVD
The project presentations will be held on Monday August 01, 2016 & Wednesday August 03,
2016 in class.
Each project presentation time is 15 minutes maximum
