Learning objectives describe what the learner will do as a result of instruction. Being familiar with selected technologies allow teachers to seamlessly integrate technology in the teaching. Technology support units are available to assist everyone involved in the learning new technologies and their effective integration in the classroom.

1) What are the primary types of criteria used to analyze learners?
There are three primary types of criteria to analyze learners;
General Characteristics Describe the characteristics of the class as a whole. Include information regarding the number of students, grade or age level, gender, socioeconomic factors, exceptionalities, and cultural/ethnic/or other types of diversity. Entry Competencies Do the learners have the knowledge base required to enter the lesson? Do they have the entry competencies and technical vocabulary for this lesson? Have they already mastered the skills you are planning to teach? Do they have biases or misconceptions about the subject? Learning Style Describe the learning style preferences of the individual members of the class (e.g., auditory, visual, tactile/kinesthetic). Then determine the information processing habits of the learners. 2) Why are learning objectives an important aspect of lesson planning? Learning objectives describe what the learner will do as a result of instruction. Objectives should make learning statements as specific as possible. We should consider that a learning objective is a statement of what the learner will know, achieve, or be able to do as a result of the learning process; it is not a statement of how the lesson will be taught. We should keep in our mind too that these statements will be the basis for assessment and will be the basis for student learning expectations. Hence it is critical that the learning objectives be written in such a way that they are observable and measurable. 3) What are the five basic steps for utilizing technology, media, and materials? Technology Support Selecting and using appropriate technology can be of benefit to both teachers and their students. Being familiar with selected technologies allow teachers to seamlessly integrate technology in the teaching. There are times, however, when new technologies necessitate the need for training and times when the technologies do not function as planned. Various campus support units are available to assist everyone involved in the learning new technologies and their effective integration in the classroom as well as technical assistance (Simaldino, S. E., Lowther, D. L., & Russell, J. D. (2008) The five basic steps for utilizing technology, media, and materials are 1. Preview the technology, media, and materials - Give everything a thorough review 2.
Prepare the technology, media, and materials
- Gather all the equipment that you need
- Create a list of materials and equipment that you will need for the lesson and an outline of the presentation sequence of the activities 3. Prepare the environment
4. Prepare the learners
- Inform students of the learning objectives - Tell students up front how they will be assessed - Create a "need to know" by telling students how they will "profit" from the lesson 5. Provide the learning experience 4) Describe methods of eliciting student participation when using technology and media during instruction? Lesson plan should include a description for how the teachers will require their learners to know, comprehend, apply, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate the information included in the lesson. It is critical that teachers description states how he/she plans to get each learner actively and individually involved in the learning process. The goal here is for active learning to occur. 5) Since Math is an abstract subject, it is hard to understand the entire concept for students. Students have different learning styles. Some students learn well by hearing, some learn seeing, some learn reading. We should consider all of these different learning styles in our lesson plan. Technology and media are important learning materials to integrate our lesson plan and use in the class. As I mentioned math is an abstract subject. If we use technology in the math class, we would help the students to reach requirements for this subject. I use laptop, projector, and document camera in my math class. If the students have adding and subtraction disability, I show them demonstration videos such as the video shows how to add or subtract different color tiles and some fruits. Since there are verbal explanation and visual showing, this helps different types of learners to understand the concept easily.
