Letter From the Exalted Ruler

Dear Fellow Elks,
It is hard to believe, it is already July and the beginning of summer. It will be fall again before we know it. Everyone is so busy with work, ball games, functions, and events. When you do have a little spare time, you just want a
little rest and relaxation. All of the lodges slow down during the summer months, but it is especially hard on our
lodge; since we have so many members that enjoy their weekends at the lake. So, please do what you can and try to
come up and see us more often during the week.
July is a busy month for us. Sherry and I will be headed to the Grand Lodge Convention first of July and I am looking forward to learning even more about our great organization. I hope to learn about things other lodges are doing
to increase and maintain membership in the order. I am also really interested in how other lodges run their business
piece of the lodge. I truly believe we are behind the times when it comes to this and I think if we can put some better
practices in place it could save us time and money. The girls will be hosting a Paint Your Own Masterpiece Party on
Thursday July 14th. Anyone interested, please come or call the lodge to sign up. We are going to reschedule our
Boat Poker Run for July 30th as July 16th is coming to fast. Please talk to John, Justin, or I if you are interested in
helping out with this as it is a lot of work and the more help we can get the better it will be.
If anyone has any new ideas on how we can increase membership as well as retain it; please feel free to come up and
join us for one of the meetings; we would love to hear your ideas. I just learned about something new www.elks.org
has to offer. It is an online application where any member of the order can send out a membership invitation to anyone they choose. Hopefully, this will help streamline the initiation even more.
Im going to wrap this up with a few recognitions. I would like to recognize John Marshall for Elk of the Month for
April. John went far and beyond his duties last year as ER and didnt really receive any recognition other than a
good old pat on the back. I would also like to recognize Mike Rice for Elk of the Month for May. Mike has been a
tremendous help over the past year and continues to put time and efforts into making this lodge a better place. Lastly, for June Elk of the Month, I would like to recognize Shaun Osbourn. Shaun is always willing to lend a helping
hand for anything we do. Whether it be cooking or doing the most grueling task we put in front of him.

the people and communities through benevolent programs, demonstrating that Elks Care and Elks Share.

From this day forward all bar tabs must be paid
in full that day (meaning the day or evening you
start the bar tab). The lounge manager is required to follow the rules and regulations set
forth by the Board of Control of Sand Springs
Elks Lodge #2553. Thank you for understanding
this matter.
Starting 7/1/16 all existing unpaid tabs must be
paid up as soon as possible. Also no one is to be
behind the bar. If you need something, ask the
bartender.
