5.OPERATION PRINCIPLE
As shown in Fig. 1, The FT-1000 Series Level Gauge consists of a level detecting float, connecting parts (tape, guide elbow, etc.)
and the indicator. The indicator body comprises the sprocket pulley, tape winding pulley, constant torque spring (Conston Spring),
gear mechanism, pointer and scale plate. When a transmitter is provided for the level gauge, the transmitter is connected to the
sprocket pulley shaft of the indicator body through the coupling mechanism.
The float is kept afloat on the surface of the liquid with a constant draft line, and follows any changes in the liquid level.
The float is connected to a tape winding pulley through the stainless steel tape, which is punched at regular intervals. The constant torque spring is incorporated in the tape winding pulley in order to apply a constant torque in the tape winding direction.
This constant torque is balanced with the weight of the float on the surface of the liquid.
When the float rises and lowers, according to the change in the liquid level, the tape which is interlocked with the float rotates the
sprocket pulley, which in turn is engaged with the punched tape. The rotation corresponds to the upward or downward movement
of the float. Thus, any change in the level of the liquid is converted to the change in the rotation angle of the sprocket pulley shaft.
This rotation angle of sprocket pulley is transferred to transmitter unit. i.e. Microswitch alarm, pneumatic, electric, digital BCD
etc. through coupling unit for remote data transmission.

9.3 Adjustment of pointer indication version

(FT-11)
Uncover the front cover of the indicator.
Remove the cap nut located at the center of pointer carefully by unscrewing it in the anti-clockwise direction using
a suitable tool like long-nose pliers.
Pull forward the short pointer in the following manner. The
short pointer has been inserted firmly into the tapered axis.
Insert a flat screw driver or the like from the side between
the short and long pointers. Pull forward and remove the
short pointer gradually and carefully not to damage any
parts by using the flat screw driver.
The long pointer can be adjusted as in the installed position without removing it because of the difficulty of removing.
Lets adjust the short pointer first as the followings.
The scales for the short pointer are printed as Min. 1 mm
to Max. 100 mm (from 0 to 360 one rotation).
Set the short pointer to the scale corresponding to the last 2
digits of the target figures, namely 10 mm and 1 mm digit.
Insert the short pointer and fix it as follows.
Set the cap nut. Fasten the cap nut firmly by your fingers.
Then fasten it by long-nose pliers gently. Do not fasten the
cap nut too strongly. Too strong fastening leads to make
the long and short pointers rotate together because of the
fixing of them.
Lets adjust the long pointer next as the followings.
The scales for the long pointer is printed as Min. 100 mm
to full scale height such as 3 m, 5 m, 10 m, 15 m, 20 m and
so on, corresponding to the specified tank height.
Find the location of the long pointer on the scale for the
figure more than the 100 mm digit and guess the location
somewhere between two scales for the figure 10 mm and 1
mm digit already set with the short pointer.
Before adjusting the long pointer by your finger, unfasten
the fastening screw and make sure the long pointer moves.
Set the long pointer to the above location and fasten it with
the fastening screw. Make sure the long pointer adjustment
gears fit smoothly or the fastening screw does not touch
the base plate or other mechanism.
