Job Description

1. Support and take direction from the Senior GIS Specialist


2. Perform technical functions to create and maintain the Geographic Information
System (GIS) data base
3. Digitize mapping information in order to update and maintain mapping layers; verify
digitized data for accuracy
4. Create and Analyze the GIS data, database design, project and clean the raster
and vector data
5. Examine requests for mapping products and determine and develop programs and
methods of production; consult with individuals requesting products to clarify requests
and determine features to include
6. Scanning, rectifying, and digitizing data, building topology, entering data attributes,
checking for errors, and verifying accuracy, making required corrections and editing
and refining GIS data.
7. Gather information from various sources to create GIS layers for various GIS
programs. This includes mapping, personal geodatabase creation, exporting and
projecting the GIS data
8. Converting CAD and other graphic data & attributes into GIS data structures
9. Working with mapping projections, coordinate systems, and rectification with
proven skills in producing high quality graphics and maps
10. Performs basic maintenance duties, maintaining graphics equipment,
troubleshooting and diagnosing malfunctions with plotters and printers
11. Prepare the monthly progress maps for various departments
12. Assist technical team in data collection, data management and reporting
13. Attend the GIS user meetings
14. Other duties as assigned by the Senior GIS Specialist

Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:

1. Ability to operate and use ArcGIS software with good understanding of other GIS
related software's like Google Earth and Global Mapper and the devices such as
GPS, digitizers and plotters.
2. Understanding of map projections
3. Understand and work with a variety of mapping data, including topographic,
geologic, climatic and other types of maps, various types of overlays, satellite
imagery, GPS data, etc.
4. Establish and maintain working relationships with employees and the public
5. Experience in working in international work environments.

Education Requirements:
Minimum Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university with major course
work in geography, computer science or related disciplines. Any combination of
training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities
will be considered.
Years of Experience: Minimum of 6 years of experience in the application of ArcGIS
software and related programs.
Level of English required: Level three (good working knowledge)

Survey and Topographic responsibilities:


1) Review of contractors topographic maps and survey data
2) Prepare survey and topography TORs for contractors to implement
3) Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of
surveys in order to describe, certify, and assume liability for work
performed.
4) Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and
calculations conducted at survey sites.

5) Direct or conduct surveys in order to establish legal boundaries for


properties, based on legal deeds and titles.
6) Record the results of surveys, including the shape, contour, location,
elevation, and dimensions of land or land features.
7) Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other
characteristics of terrain.
8) Prepare or supervise preparation of all data, charts, plots, maps,
records, and documents related to surveys.
9) Write descriptions of property boundary surveys for use in deeds, leases,
or other legal documents.
10) Plan and conduct ground surveys designed to establish baselines,
elevations, and other geodetic measurements.
11) Search legal records, survey records, and land titles in order to obtain
information about property boundaries in areas to be surveyed.
12) Coordinate findings with the work of engineering and architectural
personnel, clients, and others concerned with projects.
13) Adjust surveying instruments in order to maintain their accuracy.
14) Establish fixed points for use in making maps, using geodetic and
engineering instruments.
15) Determine longitudes and latitudes of important features and
boundaries in survey areas, using Total Station, theodolites, transits, levels,
and satellite-based global positioning systems (GPS).
16) Train assistants and helpers, and direct their work in such activities as
performing surveys or drafting maps.
17) Analyze survey objectives and specifications in order to prepare survey
proposals or to direct others in survey proposal preparation.
18) Compute geodetic measurements and interpret survey data in order to
determine positions, shapes, and elevations of geomorphic and
topographic features.

Required Qualification

Bachelor degree in civil engineering with 6+ years or master degree with 2+ years,
or other related fields experiences.
