Hey guys! Welcome back

after the Holidays. Despite
the cold weather outside,
we hope that youll begin
this semester with smiles
upon your faces.
Last week we
heard some people whispering about the plans for
February 14th. What is
more, all of those red or
heart-shaped goods on
the shelves in the stores
are just screaming that St.
Valentines Day is coming!
For some people this day
brings warm feelings, and
for others, unfortunately,
its a headache. Therefore, you wont be too
amazed when youll see

that this newspaper is full of love-related stuff

as well.
English Club suggests you have a big
cup of tea with lemon on those cold February
evenings, and, guys, dont be ashamed to
give a hug for those you love! This is the best
period to show your true feelings, and share
some love, for Petes sake!

Last year, just before the finals, English Club held a charity event. Girls
from the Club brought their ambrosial homemade muffins, cookies,
and pies, and sold them together with coffee or tea. From 10am to
12.30pm they collected 242Lt and two giant bags of doggie food!
Members of the Club are very happy and thankful for your kind contributions. Students, lecturers, guests, and members of the staff
donated money, and many of them didnt even take anything in
change for that. All of us admire your affection and generosity. Dont
worry, all that we collected went into good hands. We gave everything to organization Les, which takes care after homeless (and
usually ill) animals. Now they will be able to buy more medicaments, food, or equipment necessary for taking care after our little
furry friends.

Lonely

WALK ME DOWN THE AISLE

Reflections of you still live in the sea
As deep as my eyes could ever see
And every time I step across the
shore
You pull me in and hit with a bore.
But now Im standing on a frozen land
And waiting for my groom to come
And right now hes about to take my
hand
While my ears full of banging drum.
Will you baby walk me down the aisle?
Cause no one in the world would do.
Will you promise me try not to smile?

It was a cold windy

winter-like Tuesday
morning. I was sitting on the bench at
the bus stop, freezing my ass off and
shivering like a stray
puppy. It wouldnt
have been that cold
sad if I hadnt thrown a hissy at my father. The old rumpot
just kicked me out of the house, his house. When he asked
me, why I had been acting so pesky, I didnt know what to
say. So I thought a while, finally shrugged and told him that
he was who always screwed with everybody. It wasnt very
long when he punched me into the junk and bawled me out
of his palace (thats how he calls our little crib). The first moment it wasnt an issue as I felt that being purt-near 18
would be easy to live by myself. But few moments later I realized that I was wrong, wrong like my bloody freezing ass in
the damp cold Tuesday morning.

When Ill be standing there with you.

Interesting facts about human heart

The heart is the body's engine room, responsible for pumping lifesustaining blood via a 60,000-mile-long (97,000-kilometer-long) network of vessels.

Every day, the heart creates enough energy to drive a truck 20

miles. In a lifetime, that is
equivalent to driving to the
moon and back.

The human heart can

create enough pressure that it
could squirt blood at a distance of thirty feet.

When you laugh, the

lining of your blood vessel walls relaxes and expands. So have
a good giggle. Your heart will thank you.
Scientists have discovered that the longer the ring finger is in
boys the less chance they have of having a heart attack.
Early Egyptians believed that the heart and other major organs
had wills of their own and would move around inside the body.
In 1929, German surgeon Werner Forssmann (1904-1979)
examined the inside of his own heart by threading a catheter into his arm vein and pushed it 20 inches
and into his heart, inventing cardiac catheterization, a now common procedure.
Womans heart typically beats faster than mans. The heart of an average man beats approximately 70
times a minute, whereas the average woman has a heart rate of 78 per minute. This is one of the reasons why women are more emotional than men.

My very first love

There is a day in the year when lovers show their feelings to their beloved ones. Frosty, icy, snowy, and yet
cozy at the same time, February is known for that day which is called in honor to Saint Valentine. Windowcases packed with pink postcards and adorned with red hearts, and shelves full of chocolates show us
every-year traditions in our commercialized world. Nevertheless, lets leave this material world for a moment, and go somewhere else. Lets explore hearts of people, and find out if the flame of the very first love
still glows. For this purpose I decided to visit some lecturers and students of VMU, and ask a few questions
related to the first warm feelings in their lives.

Sometimes Life Is Just Unreasonable

My First Love Was A Life

Trauma

Student Giedr Morknait has

her own story which shows us
that sometimes even the longlasting relationships have to fall
appart. We were together since
the kindergarten days. He was
fun and I had a chance to never
feel bored with him. Unfortunately, we were separated because we had started to go to
different schools. I guess its a
good example how sometimes
life takes away from you somebody without any reason.

Love does not always make

people happy. In some cases
relationship disappoints you.
Another student from VMU
says it is an absolute true.
My first love was a real life
trauma,
states
Agniet
Bauyt. I had a crush on a
boy which, later appeared,
wasnt special at all. I was
then probably naive because
he was just physically attractive and shared a lack of wisdom. Time by time, our relationship got irritating and I felt
that one day the whole crush
just simply went up in
smoke, says Agniet.

I May Not Remember But It Really

Was
A well-known English lecturer
Jurgita Vaienonien shared her
memories about her first love.
When I was a little girl, there was
that little boy in the kindergarten
who was very fine and nice.
Nowadays
my
grandmother
sometimes asks me: do you remember that little boy in the kindergarten that was your very first
love? Every time I reply to her: no,
I think I dont remember that little
boy but deep in my heart I
feel that warm flare of the
first love.

I Am Not An Exception
All of us at some point have
had our very first love that
some of us still remember it
till now. The lecturer of English philology Jolanta Lgaudait says she is not an exception, because the first love
visited her heart too. Yes, I
had my very first love, says
the lecturer. There was a boy
that I was so fond of. The
crush was much deeper than
just physical attraction. Its
not like you notice a girl in a
street and say: oh, this girl is
totally going to be my love.
Unfortunately, as every first
love, this one ended up as
well. I think that the first love
is condemned to collapse
earlier or sooner. In a real life,
its just like in Romeo and
Juliet.

I Was In Love With Science

Unfortunately, not all of us had our first
crush in early days. Student Dovil Simonaityt says she was that example: I
havent had my first love neither in the
kindergarten nor at school. In fact, there
actually was my love but it wasnt a person, it was science, explains Dovil.
Despite this situation I still have my own
opinion about love. I think that love is a
constant and untiring thinking about the
person youre in love with. Also, when you
love a person, you want to share the
sweetest and the bitterest moments with
him and expect that it all will come back
to you.

It doesnt matter how we look like,

what we like or hate, it doesnt even
matter how old we are, and what we
do in our lives, theres always a girl or
a boy standing in our path waiting for
us to look into his or her eyes and tell
that you are the first true love of my
life.

Alternative ways to say I love you

I am the pork, you are the beans.

You are the hole in my donut.
I saw you in the morning, on the toilet, and I didnt run
screaming. So there.
The other day I saw this little girl day drop her whole ice
cream cone on the ground and start bawling. After I
stopped laughing, I thought, Im the same way when
you dont call when you say you will.
If my heart were a baked potato, Id serve it to you with
extra butter and sour cream.

Romance, romance...
Some people find their only one at once; some of them
live half of their lives to find the perfect him/her. Anyway,
to experience true, real love is an event of a lifetime and
to celebrate it we have one special day in the year. Yeah,
thats right Valentines day. For those, who still are out
for search, romantic movies come for help. They let us not
forget, that somewhere out there is a person for us and we
shouldnt let our hopes down. One day we will be
rewarded.
On the occasion of the Valentines Day I,
Karolina, want to share with some romantic movies which
everyone should definitely see. Stop watching Titanic, and
see something new, lovebirds!

The Notebook
The movie focuses on an old man reading a story to an old
woman in a nursing home. The story he reads follows two
young lovers named Allie Hamilton and Noah Calhoun,
who meet one evening at a carnival. But they are separated by Allie's parents who dissaprove of Noah's unwealthy family, and move Allie away. After waiting for Noah to write her for several years, Allie
meets and gets engaged to a handsome young soldier named Lon. Allie, then, with her love for Noah
still alive, stops by Noah's 200-year-old home that he restored for her, "to see if he's okay". It is evident that they still have feelings for each other, and Allie has to choose between her fianc and her
first love.

If only
After his impetuous musician girlfriend, Samantha, dies in an accident shortly after they had a fight (and nearly broke up), a griefstricken British businessman, Ian Wyndham, living in London gets a
chance to relive the day all over again, in the hope of changing the
events that led up to her getting killed.

Just like heaven

Elizabeth works too much to have time for a boyfriend, but that
doesn't stop her sister setting her up on a blind date. On the way home she gets into an accident and goes into a three month coma.
While she is in the coma her apartment becomes available for sublet. A landscaper, David,
who has lost his wife and basically drinks himself to sleep moves into Elizabeth's apartment.
At first David believes she is a hallucination but
as time goes on they realize the truth. Only David can see and hear Elizabeth. Eventually they
fall for each other but things take a turn for the
worse when the hospital and Elizabeth's sister
follow her wishes to not artificially prolong life and take her off life
support.
