Mechanics for Healthy Cooking

Contest in Connection with the


2013 Nutrition Month Celebration
Eligibility
The contest is open to high schools students. Each school shall have 1 group/team with maximum of 3
members each.
Requirement for Contestant
1. Contestants must submit recipes that use vegetables as main ingredients. Contestant are encouraged
to use indigenous vegetables. The recipe must contain the title, list of ingredients, procedures and cost.
The recipe should be good for 6 servings.
2. The recipe must consists of no more than 5 ingredients, excluding seasonings and condiments and thus
must be relatively inexpensive.
3. All ingredients will be reviewed and only those ingredients listed in the recipe will be allowed for use.
4. Unnecessary ingredients should be avoided like magic sarap or ready-made seasoning product.
5. All ingredients must arrive in a raw/unprepared state. No prepared foods will be allowed with the
exception of commercially prepared sauces or ingredients.
6. Vegetables may be cleaned and washed but not cut or shaped in any form before the contest.
7. During the contest, only team members will be allowed in demonstration area.
8. Contestants will be given 10 minutes to setup and decorate their work area.
9. Contestant will have a maximum of thirty minutes to prepare and cook their recipe.
10. Contestant must provide their own cooking utensils and/or cooking appliance.
11. Each contestant will be provided with a table and 2 chairs.
12. Contestants are encouraged to wear clothing consistent with professional and safe handling practices.
Criteria for Judging
Only those recipes that qualify shall be judged.

Nutritional Value- 30%
Taste- 25%
Presentation- 15%
Creativity- 15%
Availability of Ingredients- 15%
Awards
Cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and consolation prizes.
All contestant will received a Certificate of Participation

Submission of Entries/Recipes
Interested school should submit the fully accomplished entry form to the MNC office/Rural Health Unit of
Sagbayan, look for Jethro Floyd Quinto or Dewy A. Demandante MD on or before 2 weeks from the
scheduled activity. Only entries that have no more than 5 ingredients and with accomplished entry forms
will be accepted to join in the contest. The MNC office will notify all the qualified entries.
