This paper proposes a hybrid optical technique combining coherent gradient sensing (CGS) with caustics to visualize fractures. CGS uses the gradient field of a scattered optical wave to locate discontinuities like fractures. Caustics provide additional information about fracture geometry. The hybrid technique leverages both CGS and caustics to nondestructively image fractures with high resolution and sensitivity.
