INSTRUCTOR

INTRODUCTION
The road distance from the head to end trunk is approximately 5 km.
The amplifier selection was chosen already per group. Amplifier model 8T600/32 was designated to our group. It uses a feedforward technology, has
a 30dB operating gain. The cable selected is Time fiber TX10/1160 with an
attenuation of 0.93 dB per 100ft at 600MHz.This was selected due to its low
attenuation. The maximum distance between amplifiers are determined by
the equation: MD = (Amplifier Gain)/(Cable Attenuation per unit length)*0.85.
The 0.85 multiplication factor is used to allow distance for future expansion
and errors in scale map. The resulting distance is 835m. Dividing the total
distance of 5km with the maximum distance between the amplifiers, we get
6 amplifiers. Therefore, to supply the required threshold, 6 amplifiers must
be placed within the trunk route. The locations of the trunk amplifiers are
within the condition stated by the laboratory manual. The locations of the
poles where the amplifiers are going to be placed are documented for ease
of access for the service personnel. The locations are placed in the map, and
the prescribed symbols are used. Also, the bill of materials are computed to
determine the estimate of the cost of design.

DESIGN OBJECTIVES

 Resolve the best trunk cable route from the head-end (5 km) to the
intended service area.
Verify the correct spacing between trunk amplifiers in a trunk system.
Evaluate the carrier-to-noise performance of the system of trunk
amplifiers.
Design the CATV distribution in a certain subdivision or village with a
minimum of 200 households.
Use different cable television components in distributing signals to
subscribers.
The carrier to noise level of the trunk system must not go below 48 dB.
