Composition

An intensive study of English grammar and composition which aims at


enhancing the students four basic communication skills, namely, speaking,
reading, writing, and listening through words, sentences and paragraphs. Skills in
term paper writing enriches the course.
ENG 012

Communication II

This course is designed to help students develop advance writing skills. It is


further aimed at polishing language competence including mastery in the
peculiarities of the English language, the accurate interpretation and or criticism of
written materials focused on research. It further concentrates on the four types of
discourse:
exposition, description, narration and argumentation and in the
preparation of research paper.
ENG 012

Rhetoric

A course designed to prepare students for writing and actual practice in


delivering speeches with special attention on choice of subject, content,
organization and use of language, voice and diction, bodily action and audience
analysis.
ENG 014

Essay

A course designed to develop in the student keen interest and discriminative


appreciation of the essay. It ties closely with the students work in the Freshman
English and it is intended to give further play to communication skills the students
developed in the lower English subjects.
Integration and continuity in the
development of expository skills are assured. Assigned writings when pursued
faithfully will develop more efficient self-expression.

Philippine Literature

A study of Philippine Literature in English from the American Era to the


present. Discussed, analyzed, and evaluated, are works in the genres of the essay,
the short story, the novel, drama and poetry.
FIL 012

Rizal at Panitikang Filipino

Pag-aaral ng mga diwa at kaisipan ni Rizal na nakapaloob sa kanyang mga


akda at ang kabuluhan ng mga diwa at kaisipang ito sa kontemporaryong
pamumuhay. Pag-aaral ng mga katutubo at naangking anyo ng panitikang Filipino
sa loob ng ibat ibang panahon sa kasaysayang ng kultura ng Pilipinas.
HST 011

Philippine History and Government

A general survey of the history of the Filipino people from the earliest times
to the present with emphasis on the struggle for freedom and independence; the
evolution, growth, and development of our political, economic, and social life
(culture), post-war to declaration of Martial Rule and Edsa Revolution.
PHL 012

Philosophy with Ethics

This course deals with the study of moral philosophy of man and
philosophical inquiry into the existence of God to establish the foundation of ethical
values. Concepts such as reality, moral law, conscience, right, and reason, and
relevant moral problems are discussed. Selected classical and contemporary
philosophies are studied.
HUM 010

Introduction to Humanities

The study of basic concepts involved in the seven arts of man, deigned to
help the students develop his capacity to perceive, understand, and appreciate
works of art. This includes the art from early Christians to the Renaissance and
Contemporary art in the Philippines.
PSC 010

Introduction to Political Science

A study of the basic concepts, theories and principles of government and


politics, with emphasis on trends and issues on Philippine political problems. It
includes Philippine Agrarian Reform, taxation, and the RP Constitution.
SOC 115

Asian Civilization

A study of the political, economic, social and cultural history of China, Japan,
India, and Southeast Asia from the earliest times to contemporary period. It
analyzes the impact of westernization, Japan as a world power, the emergence of
India, and the rise of Southeast Asian Nationalism and their struggle for national
survival.
