1.0 Purpose:
This Procedure is intended to provide guidance and instructions for carrying out
the MDBFP Start-up Operation
2.0 Scope:
This Procedure is applicable to Motor Driven Boiler Feed Pump.
Total one No Pump of 30% capacity.
3.0 Responsibility:
1. All the personnel involved in carrying out /supervising the above activities are
required to ensure implementation of this procedure.
2. In the event of any changes required in the procedure such changes may be
requested with Site in charge, who would take appropriate action with approval
from respective departmental heads
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION:
The function of BFP is to transfer the Feed Water from Dearator to the
economizer. There are three pumps (1*30% capacity MDBFP) & (2*60% capacity
TDBFP).
The pumps internal are designed as cartridge, which can be easily removed
for maintenance without disturbing the suction and discharge piping work or
the alignment of the pump and hydraulic coupling.
The pump shaft is sealed at the DE and NDE by mechanical seals, each seal
being flushed by water in a closed circuit and which is circulated by the action of
the seal-rotating ring. This flushing water is cooled by passing through a seal
cooler, one per pump, which is circulated with clarified cooling water. The rotating
assembly is supported by plain white metal lined journal bearings and axially
located by a Glacier double tilting pad thrust bearing.
