Client requirements

Client requirements will include the following:-

1. Durability of the projects: - Is to have a long life of construction, and

2.
3.
4.
5.
6.

in order to be a long time Apartment age must be the quality of the

materials used with high specifications and this reduces the
maintenance work as well.
Water exclusion: - Action is pouring tendencies to keep water for
construction.
Ventilation and air Movement: - Windows are put in the right place in
the building for proper ventilation.
Heat: - It is to isolate the construction using insulating material to
maintain a degree of construction heat from the inside.
Lighting: - It is to put good lighting in the building and be comfortable to
look.
Sound: - Is the sound insulation inside the building from external noise
using insulating materials.

(2) The technical constraints

The use of an important technology for the construction work to portray the
construction before its establishment, and of the technology (3D models or
tools of virtual reality, graphics 2D, bar charts or network diagrams) and at
work sketches be priced cheap for 3D and all the technology used for
visualization of the facility, and I did not for all clients who can understand
these models, for I use PowerPoint presentations and videos to be more
.useful to the customer

Task (2):- P2.1

Performance in use (3)

Durability: - The longer the structure lasts, the less resources are needed (1
to build replacements. Additionally the more resistant buildings and structures
are to wear and tear, the less maintenance is needed, thus further reducing
the cost of ownership. Increasing construction quality and durability also
means stronger building structures, which ensures life safety in case of severe
.weather or natural disasters
Maintenance: - Maintenance workers are responsible for maintenance and (2
repair work for buildings and job sites like offices, apartment complexes,
.government agencies and schools
Thermal performance: - Thermal performance of a building refers (3
primarily to how well a building is insulated from the external weather
conditions in order to achieve a comfortable temperature internally. This
means keeping the internal temperature higher than the external temperature
.or lower than the external temperature
Moisture resistance: - Moisture is the number one enemy of any (4
insulating material. With a factor 10 to 20 times greater than most insulation,
water can raise an insulations factor and lower its long-term insulating
effectiveness. That's why it's vital to choose a moisture-resistant insulation
.material
Material deterioration / decay: - most common construction materials are (5
very durable and can last indefinitely. However, design or construction
deficiencies or lack of proper maintenance can result in less-than-ideal
conditions under which construction materials will degrade. Degradation can
take many forms, including chemical reactions, consumption by living
.organisms, and erosion or mechanical wear
Sound insulation: - The building codes of many countries include (6
standards for sound insulation in buildings, especially where walls and floors
are shared between dwellings, such as those between flats and joined
houses. These codes have usually evolved from a desire to protect people
from annoyance or potential ill health caused by noise from traffic, industry or
.neighbors

Task (2):- P2.2

(2) Disposal of waste materials during the life

of the building
Responsible of waste is an essential aspect of sustainable building. In
this context, managing waste means eliminating waste where possible;
minimizing waste where feasible; and reusing materials which might
otherwise become waste. Solid waste management practices have
identified the reduction, recycling, and reuse of wastes as essential for
sustainable management of resources.
Reuse: - Some materials can be reused, resalable condition might
substitute for new products, or be donated and or sold for use on
another project a form of beneficial reuse.
Recycling: - Introducing a material into some process for remanufacture
into a new product, which may be the same or similar product or a
completely different type of product.

(3) Energy efficiency

Buildings are responsible for 40% of energy consumption and 36% of CO2
emissions. While new buildings generally need less than three to five liters of
heating oil per square meter per year, older buildings consume about 25 liters
on average. Some buildings even require up to 60 liters, Currently, about 35%
of the buildings are over 50 years old. By improving the energy efficiency of
buildings, we could reduce total energy consumption by 5% to 6% and lower
CO2 emissions by about 5%.

Task (2):- P2.3

Financial implications of selecting building (1)

materials and services
The construction budget of the client should be noticed. The designed
structure and the specification of building services and the selection of
materials should satisfy the budget of the client. At the same time the
quality of the construction should not be satisfied of using low cost
materials that are without specific range of design code qualities. If the
material and services selected with higher cost that is 2 to 3 times more
than a client specified cost, then the client will reject the work
immediately. The compromised price should be quoted and it should also
satisfy the client's requirements. The client is mentioned to use second
hand yellow stock bricks for the brick work involved in the structure. If we
choose the first hand yellow stock brick or any other types of bricks it will
7 Page

Design Principles and Application for CBE

influence the estimated cost of the building. The selection of building
.service may be lowered in the case of domestic dwellings

Task (2):- P2.3 & M2.3

Factor influencing the overall cost of the (2)

building
-:There are several factors that affect the overall cost of the building, they are
Material selection: - is a step in the process of designing any physical (1
object. In the context of product design, the main goal of material selection is
to minimize cost while meeting product performance goals, Systematic
selection of the best material for a given application begins with properties
and costs of candidate materials, And that the material be classified according
.to the land and the region
Incorrect planning:- The poor management and engineering planning the (2
construction companies is the main cause of the delay in the completion of
projects and that from the perspective of the participants in the research
sample of project managers in construction companies and project managers
.in competent in engineering project management companies
Poor financial control on site: - Sound management is the key to a small (3
company's success, and effective managers realize that any successful
business venture requires proper financial control. The margin for error in
managing finances is especially small for most small business. Two financial
pitfalls are common in small business: under capitalization and lax customer
.credit policies
Quality and quantity: - works aim to satisfy the most urgent needs of the (4
majority, even if that means a reduction in quality, or to deliver sustainable
works regardless of price this has been a huge topic of debate at for many
years now. However, it is clear that there is no absolute answer to this, and so
the most important thing is to first satisfy the needs of the area, we can expect
to want to produce a high number of facilities, where school construction is
less urgent and technical ability greater, we can expect to focus more on the
.quality of works

1. Fit for Purpose:
Sure it when the process of construction and use of building
materials will deal with natural conditions and different uses.
1) Weather:
In response to changes in climate that will affect the
construction materials used when possible and avoid these
effects put the material in these circumstances is far from
anywhere.
2) Flooding:
When construction is fair to flooding should be building design
resistant to flooding and possible use of special materials to
absorb water to reduce the cost of maintenance.
3) Occupants:
Develop a plan for development in the future for the
convenience of building owners to provide highly efficient
construction materials to reduce maintenance costs in the
future.
4) Intended use:
When choosing the materials of construction by the contractor
must pay attention that the materials that will suit brought with
the purpose to build a career and financial situation of the owner.
2) Energy based Techniques:
The use of technology in order to reduce energy consumption
and the development of sources of energy and resource
development in order to build service in the future.
3) Materials based techniques:
Possible use of environmental materials in order to reduce
environmental pollution and improve the materials used and
make it environmentally friendly materials.
4) Waste based techniques:
Administration to reduce waste in the construction and is one of
the most important fundamentals for a sustainable building and
is working to eliminate the presence of waste as much as
possible and recycle waste recycled.
5) Recycling:
Recycling materials recycling possible in order to keep energy
and materials reduce the need for new materials.

There is a recent study conducted for the cost of waste
disposal and is 300 dinars for the home and at the restoration
of old landfills will be the cost of operating and more difficult.
Efficiency:
Before waste disposal must know what these wastes in order
not to waste money to buy materials possible to be found in
this waste and be valid and this shows us the efficiency of
workers and sub-contractor that they are not wasting
materials.
Liability:
Sure how to dispose of hazardous materials and toxic to avoid
possible dangers that can occur because of the project.
Marketing:

The Contractor shall promote himself as he had to take action when

the crisis waste disposal and he protected the material and he seeks
to protect the environment, and must be performed by this because
it is the employer and is responsible for the environment in the
project.
Task (3) P3.3

16 Page

Design Principles and Application for CBE

Salah Edrees Shadid

You can ensure the safety and efficiency,

through the following points
1. Know what You throw:
We can reduce waste to identify the project's first waste and the
work of a permanent inspection because it is possible the
presence of materials not been damaged or destroyed by the
workers and this shows us the efficiency of workers and subcontractor
2. Eliminate waste before it starts:
You can work on eliminating waste before it starts to pay for one
subcontractor and make him responsible for the procurement of
materials and is responsible for the disposal.
3. Reuse:
There are materials we can re-use again and can be stored for
reuse or donate when we need some of these materials for the
benefit of other people as possible to be not having the ability to
buy these materials.
4. Recycle:
Wastes that are of construction work are usually non-recyclable
and I was there for companies being developed in collaboration
with those responsible for this waste and those responsible for
the products manufactured and be in cooperation with the
transfer of waste processing companies.
Task (3) D3.1

Waste Disposal methods used in

Jordan:
Jordan is a country that is still working to get rid of waste
management is currently using the following methods:

Combining:

By bags for waste and metal containers.

Transportation:
Staplers are by and Illsnat and cranes.

Storage:

After waste collection, waste is stored after it is sent to

manufacturing plants and then to the landfill reducer.

Treatment:

The individual waste, is then covered with dirt next to the floor
of the cell, and the output of the already drilled, and is
individual waste and composting process inside the cell, and
when the cell is full are closed and converted to a gas plant.

Technology on design and planning

phases of any construction project
There are many programs that help in the construction
process and there have advantages, including: Reduce reliance on paper in order to reduce the cost and reduce
the paper production and speed copying, distribution and reduce
the time significantly, and we can send it by e-mail or put them
on the memory stick to the possibility of the amendment at any
time and in order if abuse of the security situation the
irreversibility to it at any time and easily and there is the
transparent transfer of information and there is no complete
record of the project to minimize the audit to avoid litigation.

Collaborative working
I've made new studies that 80% of users prefer to use
technology in the design because of the following benefits:For they shall be available at all times and could be verified at
all times and can modify the chart with ease and be the
proportion of very little loss.

Types of technology

STAAD
Is one of the most popular programs in the field of structural
engineering three-dimensional, multi-materials analysis and design,
The potential of the vast program begins the process of creating and
generating models, analysis, and design, and the completion of the
design and analytical results, and show them visually very
distinctive.
The famous STAAD program, professional environment of steel and
concrete and wooden and aluminum formations and decorations
and analyzes of tempered steel designs for high-rise buildings and
skyscrapers global cloud designs, and service tunnels,
petrochemical plants, bridges
And this program is considered the first choice for 47 out of the top
50 leading company in the engineering construction, and is used in
seven of the top ten engineering universities in the world. These
numbers make sure that this program has a world-renowned very
wide, it has unique qualities are evident in the view, and tools
Manifesting, power analysis, and design deals with the elements of
a highly developed, with a great potential in kinetic dynamic
analysis of the elements, forms design and can accomplish the most
complex models very quickly and in ways very easy, Was to
strengthen the program group Code designs multiple materials such
as wood, steel and steel tempered, and concrete, and aluminum,
which facilitates to a large degree of the various structural models
of engineering design from residential buildings models to
skyscrapers, tunnels and bridges through to home furniture, thanks
to the dynamism of the WFP and interactive design capabilities
beyond the border.
Some important program Specifications (STAAD):1) The program has the potential implementation of a wide range
of professional analytical operations include static analysis,
and the P-delta, and the response spectrum, time history,
bending the linear and non-linear, steel and wood and
concrete designs.
