Reflection

1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology coaching and technology leadership from
completing this field experience?
This field experience was about strategies for ELL students. Using the information from the module I learned about facts versus
myths, and useful strategies to teach vocabulary and through context. I was also able to explore some other digital resources and
professional learning communities that general education teachers could use for references.
2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you be able to do) and
dispositions (attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the
standards you selected above. Use the language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3knowledge,
skills, and dispositions.)
Knowledge Investigating the ELL module was similar to engaging in professional learning or continuous learning. Although
my school has a small ESOL population, it is important to stay updated on research-based strategies and pedagogy.

Skills - Developing the ELL lesson plan helped me work on designing learning experiences using research-based strategies and
developing flexible assessments that work best for ELL students.
Dispositions The information in the ELL module encouraged me to think beyond the numbers in teaching mathematics. I
previously thought math was different because we could focus on skill, but it is also important to use the ELL students primary
language to teach vocabulary.
3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or student learning at your
school. How can the impact be assessed?
The main objective in all school improvement initiatives is to increase student achievement. One of the areas where we can
improve is with ESOL student performance. This field experience did not extend beyond my classroom, but after using specific
strategies with a student and seeing progress, the information can be shared with other teachers. This way the student can benefit
from the strategies in more classes and increase their performance.
