TATTVA VAADA (jan.

2012)

Taratamya Tattva (The Principle of Gradation of

Souls)
In "Mahabharata Tatparya Nirnaya" (one of the prominent works_Sarvamoola
Granthas, of Sri Guru Madhwacharya, the founder of the Dwaita Philosophy),
the revered Guru stated as:
tAratamyaM tato GYeyaM sarvocchatvaM harestathA |
tatadvinA na kasyApi vimuktiH syAt.h katha~nchana ||

The Gradation (Taratamya) amongst the souls (Jivaas) should be known

and Sri Hari (Lord Sri Maha Vishnu) is the most Supreme and should be
understood correctly & positively.
When this Knowledge (Jnaana) bout the unique & distinct Supremacy
is not known, then there is no chance for salvation (mukti) from the
cycle of Birth & Death (samsara).
In the the same way, the Puranas such as Bhavishyottara Purana,
Garuda Purana also have stressed the need for Taratamya knowledge
in order to attain Salvation or Mukti or also known as Moksha.
Prominent among the Madhwa saints like Sri Purandara Dasaru, Sri
Vijaya Dasaru,Sri Mohana Dasaru, Sri Jagannatha Dasaru emphatically
asserted that Devata Taratamya Jnaana is a must for attaining
salvation and failing to understand this Principle (tatva) there is no way
out for souls (known as Jivas)
Sri Guru Raghavendra Swami of Mantralayam, in one of his works,
'Chandogya Upanishad Khandartha' explained that only if Lord Sri
MahaVishnu is worshipped as Sarvottama(the Supreme) and keeping
in mind the Devata Taratamya Jnaana (the knowledge of Celestial
Beings Gradation) then only the Lord, as the indweller of all devatas,
would confer the chaturvidha purushardhas which includes salvation or
mukti, on the devotees who seek blessings for the same.

TATTVA VAADA (jan. 2012)

In addition to this Taratamya gnaana' or The Knowledge of

Gradation of Souls, one should also know about the Pancha Bheda
Tatva(The Principle of Five intrinsic differences among
"JANARDHANA-JEEVA-JADA").

Pancha Bheda Tattva(The Principle of Five

differences):

By and large the universe of animate and inanimate can be classified

into THREE entities. Nothing can go beyond these three categories i.e.
o 1.Janardana(The Supreme Lord Sri Maha Vishnu who is Unique)
2.Jeeva(souls) and 3.Jada(matter).
Of the three, The Supreme Lord_Sri Maha Vishnu is the only one who is
omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient. He is independent and
controls the other two entities.
Jeevas are souls and are innumerable in number.
They are permanent interms of existence but are dependent on God
for their well being until moksha. They are bound by karma(their
actions).
It is said that there are 84 lakhs or 8.4 million varieties of souls. Each souls
innate characteristics vary from others.Interms of
yoqyata(qualifications) jeevas also have taratamya(gradation).
The covet goal or the pinnacle of success for souls is Moksha or Mukti or
Salvation (A final state of liberation from birth and death and having
permanent state of ecstacy(100%), free from any sort of misery(0%).It is
said that in this state of moksha also Jivas have Taratamya or
Gradation.
All insentients (lifeless matter) like stones, wood, coal, elements like gold
silver copper etc are classified under 'Jadas' or 'Matter' in the third
category.

God is unique and independent of the other two entities and He controls the
rest of them TOTALLY.

TATTVA VAADA (jan. 2012)

The Five fold differences or The Pancha Bedha are as follows:

1) Between Jeevas there are differences in terms of their attributes
2) Between Matter to Matter there are differences which are distinct
by virtue of their nature of properties.
3) Between God and Jeevas there are differences.
4)Between God and Matter there are differences.
5)Between Jeevas and Matter there are differences.

Thus one must and should follow the 'Taratamya' and 'Pancha
Bheda' tatvas or Principles, if they are to attain moksha or salvation
and which is mandatory as stipulated by the Lord Sri Maha Vishnu
and which has been revealed to the world by Shri Guru
Madhwacharya, the founder of Dwaita Philosophy or the Madhwa
Cult.
