I. Integrative Art as Applied in contemporary Art
A. Integrative Art: Define
- A multidisciplinary approach in using art in education
These approach ranges from:
1. Vocational
2. Scholarly
3. Creative interest in the arts and design
- Learning method that utilizes fine arts and performing arts as
principal pathways to education
- Sole objective is to expand peoples understanding of a
general subject area, while simultaneously developing a larger
extent of understanding and appreciation of both fine and
performing arts.
B. Forms of integrative art:
1. New media
- An art form that covers integrative artful masterpieces with
new media technologies such as digital arts, video games,
robotics and visual arts
- It is the use of the latest technology in the creation of art.
o Tengal Drilon ( Filipino artist of New media art)
He merges various fields of discipline by playing
multiple role as curator-producer, filmmaker and
musician-composer
Founder of Sabaw Media Art Kitchen (NGO that
focuses on connection and exchange in new
media art in Southeast Asia)
Art works:
Sinemusikalye (steet concert)
Transmissions Gangan (a collaboration with
American composer, pianist and electronic
musician Chris Brown in an interactive AV
performance aired in five radio)
ASUEM. 09: Asia-Europe New Media Art
Symposium, and Fete dela Wasaque(an
outer fringe festival)
- An art inspired by the growing competition between
commercial and business interest, governmental interest, and
public interest that gave birth to the Web today
2. Digital storytelling
- The digital approach in presenting narratives
- The new practice of ordinary people who uses digital tools to
articulate or tell stories

- Tales in this form are engaging and compelling

3. The use of music and performing arts in education
- These approach helps in the development of the students
skills in math, reading comprehension, critical thinking and
verbal skills

II. Philippine Contemporary Art

A. Philippine Contemporary Art: Defined
- The use of arts to express Filipino artists values, the art to
express themselves and create wonderful art work that try to
capture the Filipino way of life.
- An art that allows Filipino artist to portray the subject and the
medium in innovative and skilful ways reflecting Filipino
identity.
- It can be found in the most unsuspecting corner of the streets
such as:
o The murals on the streets (along EDSA especially and
even appropriated with the sarao/ jeepneys of today)
o In malls and parks
o In architectural design
- CONTEMPORARY ART or modern art is not intended to be
reduced to conventional notions of space and medium, the
main feat of any art (in contemporary times) depends on how
they were able to connect with spectators.

- The art of erecting/building
