1.0 PURPOSE:
This Method statement is an explanation of the intended method for
Installation of Stone work, For Implementation and Supervision of
Qualified Engineer/ Skilled, at ITCC Project.

These works are under the Responsibility of the Section


Manager who answers to the Project Manager for all works carried
out on the Project.
Individuals responsible for parts of this work are:
Section Manager - Organises the Site Engineer / Supervisors /
Foremen / Labour to carry out the work to the specification / methods
/ sequence herein described.
Site HSE Officer - Ensures that the work is carried out safely, and
within acceptable environmental criteria

6.0 PROCEDURES
6.1 Product Delivery, Storage and Handling
Protect Stone and accessories during storage and construction against
physical damage.
Handle Stone in a manner to prevent chipping, breakage, soiling or
any other damage.
Store Stone on wood skids or pallets.
6.2 Products for wall cladding
A. Marble

Type, color, texture and finish of marble wall cladding shall be as


indicated on the drawings or as approved by the engineer.
Nominal sizes: sizes shall be as shown on the drawings.
B. Granite
Type, color, texture and finish of granite wall cladding shall be as
indicated on the drawings or as approved by the engineer.
Nominal sizes: sizes shall be as shown on the drawings.
C. Limestone
Type, color, texture and finish of limestone wall cladding shall be as
indicated on the drawings or as approved by the engineer.
Nominal sizes: sizes shall be as shown on the drawings.
6.3 Mechanical fixing:
Anchors, nuts and washers will be galvanized.
Angle clips / brackets and dowel will be stainless steel.
1. Wall Cladding for Concrete and Block works (External only)
Each piece of Granite for wall cladding, of sizes 700mm x 695mm x
40mm thick will be supported by 2 number stainless steel brackets
30mm x 35mm x 3mm thick, coming with 3mm diameter stainless
steel single pin and M8 galvanized anchors, nuts and washers as
shown on attached drawings and calculations.

Each piece of Granite for wall cladding, of sizes 785mm x 760mm x


40mm thick will be supported by 2 number stainless steel brackets
30mm x 35mm x 3mm thick, coming with 3mm diameter stainless
steel single pin and M10 galvanized anchors, nuts and washers as
shown on attached drawings and calculations.
Each piece of Granite for wall cladding, of sizes 790mm x 295mm x
30mm thick will be supported by 2 number stainless steel brackets
30mm x 35mm x 3mm thick, coming with 3mm diameter stainless
steel single pin and M6 galvanized anchors, nuts and washers as
shown on attached drawings and calculations.
Each piece of Granite for wall cladding, of sizes 600mm x 600mm x
30mm thick will be supported by 2 number stainless steel brackets
30mm x 35mm x 3mm thick, coming with 3mm diameter stainless
steel single pin and M8 galvanized anchors, nuts and washers as
shown on attached drawings and calculations.
Each piece of Lime Stone for wall cladding, of sizes 740mm x
295mm x 30mm thick will be supported by 2 number stainless steel
brackets 30mm x 35mm x 3mm thick, coming with 3mm diameter
stainless steel single pin and M6 galvanized anchors, nuts and
washers as shown on attached drawings and calculations.
The top of each marble, granite or limestone wall cladding will be
held in position permanently with two mechanical fixing, same as
noted above.

2. Wall Cladding for Concrete and Block works (Internal only)


Each piece of Granite for wall cladding, of sizes 500mm x 500mm x
20mm thick will be supported by 2 number stainless steel brackets
30mm x 35mm x 3mm thick, coming with 3mm diameter stainless
steel single pin and M6 galvanized anchors, nuts and washers as
shown on attached drawings and calculations.
Each piece of Granite for wall cladding, of sizes 600mm x 600mm x
20mm thick will be supported by 2 number stainless steel brackets
30mm x 35mm x 3mm thick, coming with 3mm diameter stainless
steel single pin and M6 galvanized anchors, nuts and washers as
shown on attached drawings and calculations.
Each piece of Lime Stone for wall cladding, of sizes 600mm x
900mm x 20mm thick will be supported by 2 number stainless steel
brackets 30mm x 35mm x 3mm thick, coming with 3mm diameter
stainless steel single pin and M8 galvanized anchors, nuts and
washers as shown on attached drawings and calculations.
Each piece of Lime Stone for wall cladding, of sizes 300mm x
300mm x 30mm thick will be supported by 2 number stainless steel
brackets 30mm x 35mm x 3mm thick, coming with 3mm diameter
stainless steel single pin and M6 galvanized anchors, nuts and
washers as shown on attached drawings and calculations.

Each piece of Lime Stone for wall cladding, of sizes 600mm x


600mm x 30mm thick will be supported by 2 number stainless steel
brackets 30mm x 35mm x 4mm thick, coming with 3mm diameter
stainless steel single pin and M8 galvanized anchors, nuts and
washers as shown on attached drawings and calculations.
Each piece of Lime Stone for wall cladding, of sizes 1200mm x
1200mm x 30mm thick will be supported by 2 number stainless steel
brackets 30mm x 35mm x 3mm thick, coming with 3mm diameter
stainless steel single pin and M10 galvanized anchors, nuts and
washers as shown on attached drawings and calculations.
The top of each marble, granite or limestone wall cladding will be
held in position permanently with two mechanical fixing, same as
noted above.
6.4 Fabrication
Fabrication of marble, granite and limestone for wall cladding will be
done by the approved suppliers and as per the approved shop
drawings.
6.5 Installation
1. Check and make sure that the actual dimensions on site do match
with dimensions and details shown in approved shop drawings.

2. Mark setting out as shown in approved shop drawings. Mark the


horizontal and vertical lines of each Faade panel for the lower row
of wall cladding.

3. Submit RFI for Engineer approval prior for installation of Stone


work.
4. Provide joints as indicated in approved shop drawings.
5. Sizes of the holes for the supporting stainless steel pins will be
done at the site and as per the details shown on the drawings.
6. Location of supporting pinholes will be done according to the sizes
of marble, granite or limestone size and as noted here below:
7. The supporting pin hole for Marble/Granite/Limestone for wall
cladding of size 300mm x 300mm x 300mm thick and smaller will be
at 33.5mm from each edge of the Faade Panel.
8. The location of the supporting pin hole for marble, granite,
limestone wall cladding of size greater than 300mm wide x 300mm
height and up to 600mm wide x 600mm height will be around 100mm
from each end of the Faade Panel and according to site conditions.
9. The location of supporting pin hole for marble/granite/limestone
wall cladding of size greater than 600mm wide x 600mm height and
up to 800mm wide x 800mm height will be around 150mm, from
each end of the Faade Panel, and according to site conditions.

10. The location of supporting pin hole for marble/granite/limestone


for wall cladding of size greater than 800mm wide x 800mm height
and up to 1200mm wide x 800mm height will be around 200mm from
each end of the Faade Panel and according to site conditions.
11. Mark the location of the anchor bolts for each Faade Panel,
which is related to the horizontal and vertical lines marked on the
wall as noted above to the size of Facade Panel and reference.
12. Drill the required holes for the M6 Anchor bolts or M8 Anchor
bolts as needed and as required for the specific Faade Panel.
13. Position and fix the two anchor bolts required to support the
bottom end of the Faade Panel.
14. Install, Level and fix in position the two stainless steel angles with
the stainless steel pins.
15. Measure exact dimensions between the center of each supporting
pin and with reference to the starting vertical line which represents
the edge of the specific Faade Panel, mark at the bottom end on the
bottom of the Faade Panel the location of the two supporting pin
holes.

16. Drill the two marked pin holes at the bottom end of the Faade
Panel with the exact diameter drill bit and the exact depth required.
17. Carefully place in position the Faade Panel supported and
restrained at the bottom by the two stainless steel angle fixings and
pins.
18. Adjust the Faade Panel as needed and hold in position, plumb
and level.
19. Mark the location of the anchor bolts at the top of the Faade
Panel.
20. Drill the marked anchor bolt holes with the exact diameter drill bit
and the exact depth required.
21. Place and fix the two anchor bolts as required.

22. Install level and fix in position the two stainless steel angle
brackets with the stainless steel pins required to withhold and
restrained permanently the Faade Panel on the upper end.
23. The same procedure as noted above will be used to install and fix
the remaining Faade Panels working horizontally and vertically.
Cleaning

Clean stone work after completion using clean water and soft brushes.

7.0

HEALTH AND SAFETY ENVIRONMENT

All members of the crew are trained and competent to carry out the
task. All members of the crew are safety oriented and informed of the
associated hazards of their task thru toolbox talk meetings given by their
supervisor and safety officer.
This risk will be reduced by:

Workers used PPE/ Gloves/ Goggles/suitable for the work being carried out
and as recommended by the Safety officer- in - charge / Engineer-incharge.
Hazards /Risks Preventions
Confined Space
All preventive measures shall be established before commencing the
work on confined space area. The area should have at least met the
minimum requirements such as proper access/egress, lightings,
exhaust or ventilation, standby person or watchman, PPEs as per
MSDS of the material to be used and full-time presence of supervisor
at work area.
Fire

Before commencing the work, ensure that firefighting equipment are


in place such as fire extinguishers, accessibility of water hydrant at
the area, contact numbers of nearest fire station and emergency rescue
team.
Slip, trips and Falls
Ensure that the area are free from slipping, tripping and falling
hazards by maintaining the good housekeeping, proper material
segregation or storing and PPE requirements.
Miscommunication
Ensure that proper communications are established to avoid any
conflict and misunderstanding by any adjacent works activities at the
area.
