All the boilers are having air preheaters, bagasse

feeders, secondary fans, booster fans, chemical
dosing system, deaerator tank and water
treatment plant with feed water storage tanks.

Need details on integration on auto cane feeding and auto milling control system to the existing mill
automation.

CSCI Comments/Remarks
The load consumption will become higher when using ID Fan electric motor drive rather than using ID Fan
steam turbine.

We have to wait for the GCS details for the drawing and design for installing ID fan electric motor drive.
We are going to expand the tube sheet of air preheaters so that it can increase the heating surface.
As long as the proposed Economizer are not installed yet, the ideal dust collection system in flue path cannot
be removed.
We are going to reconstruct the foundation of K-1 Boiler this off-season.
The load consumption of the factory varies. Sometimes the operation running at 80% and up during milling and
if only two boilers will operate we cannot accommodate the steam demand of the factory to perform the
operations.
The factory is planning to install Economizer on two K-Boilers this crop year 2016-2017.
The Electrical Instrumentation Department of the factory already proposed installing SCADA based boiler
automation system. (This Crop Year 2016-17 is only a proposed).

C. POWER HOUSE (Power Turbines):

CSCI Comments / Remarks

1. Power Turbines

There is an ACFC (auto capacitor) installed, We will increase its capacity to get power factor around 0.95.

D. PROCESS HOUSE:

CSCI Comments/Remarks
1. CLARIFICATION
1.1 LIMING

Fractional liming and with Agitator double heating method is especially used for very refractory juice
treatment. Whereas in raw sugar manufacturing juice are not extremely refractory, that's why cold liming is
used by the aid of phosphoric acid and coagulant. The mixed juice composition is not uniform during the whole
crop. It depends on many factors; (climatic condition, cane variety, mill extraction, extraneous matter, cane
maturity, healthy or deteriorated canes.., etc) the most important fundamental objective of liming the mixed
juice is to obtain high quality clarified juice and to prevent the destruction of sugar in the process. This simpler
method gives excellent results thru proper attention, to achieve high efficiency and yields of commercial sugar.
But this method (Fractional Liming) was already planned and to be installed this coming off - season repair
2016- 17. We will try this type of liming if it is suitable and beneficial to our system, still we can shift to our
cold liming if problem occurs.

1.2 MUDDY JUICE FILTRATION

Addition or mixing of Bagacillo to Muddy juice were once implemented when Kawasaki and Dorr- Oliver
Clarifier which was located near the Boiler area are operational, When the new VMC clarifier was installed in
2005- 2006 the addition or mixing of bagacillo stopped due to new location and considering the distance to
the boiler which is to far. Since then, our filtrate purity ranges from 73- 74 AP. When Mr. A. Dakkar
commissioned the CVP last 2014-2015. He noticed the analysis result of filtrate purity which is low, He give us
some advised to add MOL at muddy juice to increase not only the PH but also the purity. Crop Year 2014- 15
(Feb. to Apr.) and Crop Year 2015- 16 our filtrate purity ranges from 76- 77 AP. And resulted to BHR
improvement..

2. HEAT CIRCUIT DESIGN AND STEAM

CONSUMPTION
2.1 STEAM CONSUMPTION

CSCI Comments/Remarks

Our vapour condensate were utilized to our Evaporator. The live steam were being used to augment the low/
insufficient supply of exhaust during mill trouble, intermittent milling and week-end to speed-up our stock
liquidation. Proper utilization of vapor bleeding will be implemented next Crop-Year when we fully installed
the modification of juice heating and vapour withdrawal pipe at Evaporator.

2.2 JUICE HEATING

The Primary Heaters are not working on exhaust steam, only the Secondary and Clear Juice Heaters, the heating
medium of primary is the vapour from Pre-evaporator. This coming off- season 2016-17, we will have a
modification to our Juice heating from two(2) stage Juice heating to three(3) stage Juice heating utilizing our
Clarified Juice Heaters.Vapour will bleed from Pre Evap, and 1st and 2nd cell of Quadruple Effect Evaporator.

2.3 PRE- EVAPORATOR WORKING and

CLEAR JUICE DISTRIBUTION in
THREE SETS

Exhaust Steam at Vacuum Pans or Crystallization station cannot be disconnected or removed. Exhaust and
Live steam were being used in times of emergency and during Stock Liquidation (Week-End). Three Stage
Juice Heating and Vapour Bleeding were studied by our Factory Manager(FM) and Consultant to improve and
reduce our Steam consumption and have a better Steam Economy. Modification and installation will be done
this coming Off-season and hopefully we can implement for the next milling.

3. SUGAR COLOUR AND BOILING

SCHEME

CSCI Comments/Remarks

3.1 BEHAVIOUR of (RS) Reducing Sugar

High Sugar colour, the destruction of reducing sugar from Mixed Juice, Clarified Juice, Raw and Treated
Syrup, the abnormality in purities from Treated Syrup, A, B, and C Massecuite, B and F Molasses and C-Sugar
were actually encountered in the last two(2) months of milling ( March and April) which we milled the highest
percentage of burnt cane that reached roughly 60% which true purity of 72% (After applying dextranage). But
in normal or good quality of Canes are being milled we have a good quality sugar produced and 1800 ICUMSA
colour is attainable.

3.2 BOILING SCHEME

High Sugar colour, the destruction of reducing sugar from Mixed Juice, Clarified Juice, Raw and Treated

1. CLARIFICATION

by: Mr. Ed Uy

Comments / Remarks

1.1 LIMING

The suggested fractional liming would require additional automatic controls for juice temperature and pH
control, aside from additional heaters, thus would require additional investments. A cost / benefit analysis is
therefore necessary to evaluate the proposal.

1.2 MUDDY JUICE FILTRATION

Addition of bagacillo is obviously required if the flock formation of the precipitated mud is of poor quality to
aid separation and filtration of suspended solid. This can therefore deceive the operator that the clarification
process is within standard instead of finding ways of correcting whatever deficiency to meet main purpose of the
purification process.
Subjecting the filtrate from the Oliver filters to further clarification by phosphoric floatation method (same as
that of the syrup clarifier) maybe technically sound but may not be commercially feasible considering the cost of
installation and high cost of operation with the slight improvement in the overall recovery.

1.3 INVERSION & INVERT DESTRUCTION

The data requested and was provided was in two separate instances... First was on %RS on various juices then
later on brix. Thus the brix provided was of the different samples when %RS was analyzed. This makes the
calculation on % inversion and % invert destruction inconclusive. Likewise it is not wise to assume inversion in
the mill by simply taking the %RS of the primary juice and comparing it with that of mixed juice since RS is also
extracted in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th mills that adds up to that of the primary juice (from the 1st mill) for an average %RS
of the mixed juice.

2.1 STEAM CONSUMPTION

The usual and conventional design in steam generation and consumption system of a sugar factory is always
incorporated, a de-superheating / pressure reducing station that converts the high-pressure, superheated, steam
generated by the boiler to that of the exhaust steam, surely for a bigger purpose. Stopping this station, as the first
aim would therefore create serious operational problems. Usually, the steam generation of the boiler is dictated
by the exhaust steam requirement of the boiling house that in actual practice is variable since some of its
processing equipment are batch type. Likewise the operation of the of the steam turbines that generates exhaust
steam also varies depending on their loads. The design of the boilers and the corresponding steam turbines is
usually projected such that the total exhaust steam generated from these turbines is always less than the exhaust
steam requirement of the boiling house, else if it is more than, then it will just puff-off (blow-off), burning more
bagasse than required. Thus, high pressure steam make-up may be reduced but not totally eliminated.
Our scheme to reduce this make-up from the high pressure (live) steam is ti retrofit our existing equipment
(heaters and evaporators) to optimize the operation of the existing pre-evap, using vapor bleedings without
procurement of major equipment.

3.2 BOILING SCHEME

The color of our sugar produced is dictated by the market requirement. Thus adjustments are made particularly
in pan boiling and on the centrifugal baskets to suite the requirement of the client.
