disease.Manyhavegeneralizedweaknessandcomorbiditiesthatalsocontributetoareducedswallowing
response.Thedecreasedabilitytoswallowcanleadtoothercomplications,butthelargestconcernsarewith
dehydration,weightlossandmalnutrition.Thiscoursewasdevelopedtoassisttheinterdisciplinaryteam[Speech
LanguagePathologist(SLP),RegisteredDietitianNutritionist(RDN),OccupationalTherapist(OT)andSocial
Worker]inthemanagementofdysphagia.Topicscoveredincludetheswallowingprocess,typesofdysphagia,risk
factors,signsandsymptoms,howdysphagiaaffectsthebody,screeningandassessment,rolesofthe
interdisciplinaryteam,nutrition,andtreatmentoptions(NationalDysphagiaDiet,thickenedliquids,freewater,and
