the results were INTJ with:
Introvert (62%)
Intuitive (16%)
Thinking (31%)
Judging (66%)

Reflection on the results

I thought the description of the INTJ was

really interesting because it resonated a
lot. One of the statements was that an
INTJ knows what they know but more
importantly, what they dont know. I find
this to be very true of myself. Also, very
accurate descriptions of personal
relationships and a willingness to work
very hard at the select ones we value. I
do struggle with interpersonal
expectations like small talk! Finally, I am
a perfectionist that holds myself and
others I work with to very standards as
the description stated. I found this

evaluation and its description to be very

accurate. These are also areas that I, at
times, need to work on to be successful
as a member of my PLC at work. Others
sometimes take my private nature and
lack of expressiveness to be a statement
about them or a lack of desire to work
with them when it is actually just who I
am and something I have to counter
regularly.

Top 5 Traits: Perseverance,

Judgement, Forgiveness,
Teamwork and Fairness
Bottom 5 Traits:
Appreciation of Beauty, SelfRegulation, Kindness, Zest
and Love

This test was fascinating!!! I found that

the top characteristics are part of why I
consider myself to be an effective
teacher. I work hard to accomplish the
goals that I set for myself, I pay close
attention to the needs of my students,
ensure my classroom is fair and
consistent, work well with my colleagues.
I am a fairly reflective professional and I
think this practice is reflected in this test.
The bottom characteristics reveal a lot
about me as well. I have found that one
of my greatest challenges as a teacher is
finding balance. I have never
accomplished a year in teaching where I
do not end the year in May exhausted,
burned out and limping into the summer.
And this test shows me why!! I dont
pause to appreciate others enough, or the
world around me, or to take care of
myself. These are things I need to think
about as I head back to work this year. I
know that pausing to take time for myself
will actually make me a better teacher, it

is just making myself walk out the door at

a reasonable hour that is the challenge!

Teaching Styles Inventory

(paper)

The results of this test are interesting

because they are so extreme. I found the
balance for verbal and visual learning
interesting because I really struggle with
verbal instructions and materials and find
that I think I prefer visual materials.
The really interesting results are the
Sensing and Sequential categories
because they are so concrete and show
such a clear preference. Also, I have to
agree with the assessment. I do have a
preference for courses that move at a
reasonable pace, have real world
application, are fact based and are based
on proven methods. I also struggle with
course material that does follow a logical
sequence and jumps around from topic to
topic.
I though the results for the Teaching Goals
Matrix was maybe a little off. Although
there is a good bit of fact recall in my
class, I wouldnt say that I emphasize or
prefer it over analysis. Breaking it down
this way was a bit harsh although maybe
a good piece of feedback to help me
reevaluate content delivery in my
classroom. This again goes back to the
balance I have referenced before in this
class between content and process in the
Social Studies classroom.
I did agree with the Teaching Methods
Matrix. My classroom does lean towards

collaboration and small group work which

lends credibility to the above critique.
This test was really interesting because it
seems so accurate!! The OWL learner,
according to this test, prefers concrete
learning through lectures, presentations
and hands on materials. They need step
by step instructions and need to practice
what they have learned. I thought it was
really interesting because I have found
that I am having a hard time with online
learning (not that you are not doing a
fantastic job with the course) and it is
because of my learning style. I am
having to really work to adapt to this
medium and this helped me to see why I
am struggling bit. There is a lot of
conceptual information in this course that
I have to connect to real world application
in my classroom and doing that virtually
is really hard for me. I do better in a
more concrete setting- literally! However,
I am surprised that I was so dominant in
one direction as I consider myself to be a
creative person and it did not show up at
all on this assessment.
The Multiple Intelligence Test had one
surprise in it which was the high score for
Interpersonal. I am not usually known for
those skills so scoring high in this area is
unusual for me although I do work hard to
compensate for my tendencies here. The
really low score in musicality was NO
surprise and would not surprise my family
either as singing in the car has been
banned for me! (ha ha)

The Birmingham Grid assessment made

was more what I expected to see since
the interpersonal score was lower and the
intrapersonal score was higher. Also, as
expected, the linguistic and visual scores
were high as well as the bodilykinesthetic. I am a huge sports fan and
continue to play myself. Although I am
able to concentrate deeply and do prefer
to work alone in a quiet place, I get
restless and will often break up my
planning periods with a walk around the
building to help clarify my thoughts.

Responses to the following questions should be answered below and then copied and pasted to the Discussion Board for Module 2

so that your peers can learn from you. In the Discussion Board, read the posts of your peers and reply thoughtfully to at least
one person in your group. Answering and posting these questions to the Discussion Board is worth a total of 15/20 points. (The
last 5 points of the 20 points will be earned when you reply to your group.)
1. Reread all of your individual reflections and think about what you have learned about yourself and your thinking, learning, and
teaching styles. How can you use what you discovered to improve your instructional practices and the learning of your students?
2. Reflect on what you have learned about gifted vs. high achieving; creativity and socio-emotional needs of students. What do
you think are the most important concepts from each area that you can use to inform and improve your instructional practice in
the future?
After recording your answers here, post your responses to the questions on the discussion board. Respond to at least one other
person in your group who has not already had a response posted to him/her.
