Many factors affect the Migration Wizards processing time. The most significant
of these is the number of part files you have stored in your personal (..\my
mcamx9) and shared (..\shared mcamx9) directories. You may choose to relocate your part files to shorten the migration process.
Basic Migration
By selecting the Basic option, you will automatically update all Mastercam file
types from the previous version to the current version. To migrate files with the
Basic option, follow the instructions below:
1. Select Basic on the Welcome to the Mastercam Migration Wizard page.
2. On the File Locations page, choose the destination folder for the shared
mcamx files.
3. Choose the destination folder for the my mcamx files.
Note: You cannot set the source folder when doing Basic migration.
4. Click Next.
5. Review your choices on the Finish page.
6. Once you are satisfied with your selections, click Finish.
Advanced Migration
By selecting the Advanced option, you can choose which file types to update, as
well as file versions. To update and migrate files with the Advanced option, follow
the instructions below:
1. Select Advanced on the Welcome to the Mastercam Migration Wizard page.
2. On the File Locations page, select the Migrate shared mcamx files and
Migrate my mcamx files checkboxes.
3. Choose the source folder and destination folder for the shared mcamx files.
4. Choose the source folder and destination folder for the my mcamx files.
You can also include subfolders or use the source folder as the destination
folder by selecting and deselecting the checkboxes.
5. Click Next.
6. On the File Types page, select the type of files you want to migrate. Then,
click Next.
7. On the Versions page, select the Mastercam file versions you want to

Miscellaneous Files
Miscellaneous files include:
l Graphics files (JPG, BMP, etc.)
l NC and NCI files
l Native format files from other applications (DWG, STL, etc.)
Copy these file types from their location in the X9 structure to a corresponding location within the Mastercam 2017 structure. They do not need to run through any
kind of update process.

Use Mastercams Zip2Go utility to gather Mastercam part data into a compressed
Z2G or ZIP file. This utility makes it easy to provide your Mastercam Reseller or
CNC Support Services with a file attachment that contains the information they
need. Zip2Go scans the machine groups in your current part file and captures
information such as your Mastercam configuration, machine definition, and post
files. For more information on using Zip2Go, please refer to the Mastercam Help.
