2. SUBJECT GUIDANCE
The teacher will:
make oral presentations in class;
propose questions for debate or discussion;
carry out online tutorials to answer students questions, doubts,
etc.
The students are expected to participate:
in class: answering questions, participating in debates or
discussions,
working in groups, join in the activities
at home: preparing the activities assigned by the teacher and
study.

Organizer (activities and interactions)

Encourager (everyone must be involved)

GROUPING TECHNIQUES

WHOLE CLASS
Also called lockstep because all the students are locked into the
same rhythm and pace.
It is useful in:

Imitation stage (repetition)


Listening activities
Speaking activities (all together)
Dynamic activities
Motivational activities

PAIR WORK
In the practice and production stages it allows students to practice
in a lively way what has been learnt and to talk about their
opinion, ideas, interests...
It is good for:

Practising
Personal relationships
Similarity with real life
Self confidence
Real communication

GROUP WORK
In the practice and production stages it allows students to improve
their fluency. It is ideal for activities of freer production.
It is good for:

More talking time


Real communication
More relaxing
More dynamic
More self confidence

INDIVIDUAL WORK
It is used in reading and writing activities, because it helps
students work at their own pace.
It is good for:

Break from oral work


Internalize what has been learnt

CLASSROOM ARRANGEMENT
Rows
This is the traditional layout
of chairs and desks.
The students are facing the
teacher and the
blackboard.
Pairs
The students can sit down
in pair facing the teacher.

U shape

In this layout, the students


are facing the teacher, but
they are also facing each
other.
Groups
Students can sit in groups of
four, five or six.
They are facing each other and
can easily face the teacher.

To help our students learn English and to create an English
atmosphere, we only have to speak in English to our students!!

Oral language is easier to acquire than written language, so it
should be introduced earlier.
1st: listening and speaking
(in an integrated way, to encourage communication).

2nd: reading to practice the recognition of words

3rd: writing. Its the slowest skill to acquire.

3.2 EVALUATION
Evaluation is used to check the efficiency of the planning.

It should be:

1. Global: it includes all the learning aspects, not only the cognitive
ones
2. Formative: it should be a tool to improve

3. Continuous: it takes place during the whole process
