Lesson:

Title: Human Body Voicethread

Subject: Health Education and Reading
Purpose: To research a system of the human body and create a Voicethread to
explain the definition of the system, steps for how the system works, and what
the system includes (body parts).
Activity Description:
Create a Voicethread to include information on one of the following 8 systems of
the body.
For each system, you must include the following:
A definition of the system
The steps for how the system works
What the system includes (body parts)
In addition to following the directions above, you will be required to include more
specific information on some of the body systems.
Muscular System:
Identify and label the following muscles: biceps, triceps, quadriceps, hamstring,
gastrocnemius, gluteus maximus, rectus abdominus.
Skeletal System:
Identify functions of the skeletal system including protection and support of body
parts (e.g., cranium protects brain, ribs protect lungs, bones hold the body
upright)
Integumentary System:
Identify the major components and functions of the integumentary system (skin,
hair, nails).
Cardio-respiratory System:
Identify and label types of blood vessels, types of blood cells, and chambers of
the heart
Respiratory System:
Nervous System:
Identify the components and functions of the nervous system including brain,
spinal cord, and nerves.
Digestive System:
Excretory System:
Instructional Objectives/Outcomes: Students will become an expert on one of
the systems of the body and present information on that system in their
Voicethread for the rest of the class to learn from.
Length of time: 3-4 hours

Grouping: Students will work with one other partner to research and create a
Voicethread on one of the systems of the body.
