MATERIALS AND METHODS

The materials and methodologies chapter focuses on the items and techniques
used to developed the proposed system. Method is a way of doing something,
especially a systematic way; implies an orderly logical arrangement. To completely
understand the materials and methods used by Us in this project, techniques and
methodologies that have been discussed in this chapter. It includes the analyzing phase
of the gathered information and evaluation and how the proposed system will run.
MATERIALS
These are the list of tools used for developing and running the software. We
researchers recommended both hardware and software requirements given below.

of the propose system. The recommended requirements and specification we use to run
the system properly.

The Table 3.2 Shows the Software specification requirements to run the propose
system to a server PC.
RESEARCH DESIGN
A plan how we collected the information for evaluation that includes identifying
the data gathered method(s). The instrument to be used, how the instrument will be
managed, and how the information will be arranged and analyzed.
DESCRIPTIVE RESEARCH
This type of research is related to frequency studies, averages and other
statistical calculations. We researchers used this type of research to gain accurate data
that does not gather the causes behind the situation. Because descriptive research is
mainly done when we researchers wants to gain a better understanding of the topic that
is being studied.
We the researchers provided a Computerized Monitoring System for Fix N Ride
Motorcycle Parts and Services and also a system which is automated so that the

previous manual system of the said company is disregarded and that the transactions
made all over the Fix N Ride are made and stored automatically. There will be a P.O.S
system for all processes of the Fix N Ride; Like Security system for the Authorized
Personnel of the Company, inventory system, maintenance, annual report. Like the
other Companies, We researchers would like to add a system that will make the
management easy to monitor the events in the transaction system.
Developmental Research
The purposed of the developmental research is to visualize the future outcome of
the proposed system. A problem oriented methodology that can be a case study,
experiments and evaluation studies.
The conceptual structure that we researchers used is the iterative developmental
model. Iterative model is a gyratory software development process developed in
response to the weaknesses of the waterfall model.
Initial Planning Phase. We researchers develop a various prototype that the
future system module might be implement.
Planning Phase. We researchers try different techniques that can be capable on
the development of the propose system.
Requirements Phase. We researchers conceptualized the required materials and
work to develop the modules for us to pursue a more efficient strategy that can allot less
time and money and to help them to acquire information and data to the study with the
use of following methods:

Internet method. As a researcher we used this method to gradually get the

reference regarding the development of the proposed system. The internet method also
provides variety of tutorials and guides that we researchers used to develop the
proposed system.
Library Method. We researchers used this method to study unpublished thesis
documents for reference and other technical books that deliver procedures and guides
when developing an online system.
Observation Method. This method is we used to study and understand the
previous transaction flow of Fix N Ride by viewing and noting occurrences to gather
information.
Interview Method. This method is typically, involves a face-to-face meeting in
which we researchers ask an individual person on the said company a series of
questions.
Analysis and Design Phase. We researchers conceptualized the overall system
structure that involves the visualizations and the user specification regarding the input
and output process.

System Diagram. A presentation that shows the program flow that is labeled with
process boxes and arrows that will guide the user about how the proposed system runs.
Implementation phase - At this phase we researchers checked the source code
that can be re-useable over the internet and developed a program architecture that will
suit the proposed system.
Coding phase will be part of the implementation phase; this is where the
programming takes place.
We the researchers will be using Visual Basic 6.0 (Open Source) for the front
end. Visual Basic is a tool that allows us to develop Windows (Graphic User Interface GUI) application. The applications have a familiar appearance to the user.

Testing phase. We researchers at this phase tested the preliminary version of the
proposed system to better understand the software being developed. This phase also
helped the researchers to debug the system codes to run smoothly and accurately.
Unit Testing. The primary goal of unit testing is to take the smallest piece of
testable software in the application, isolate it from the remainder of the code, and
determine whether it behaves exactly as you expect. Each unit is tested separately
before integrating them into modules to test the interfaces between modules. Unit
testing has proven its value in that a large percentage of defects are identified during its
use.
Module Testing. It is the testing of complete code objects as produced by the
compiler when built from source and will likely require less testing infrastructure such as
test harnesses and test stubs. The testing of modules could perhaps even be
automated so that they can be included in regression test suites or acceptance test
suites.
Integration Testing. It is the phase in software testing in which individual software
modules are combined and tested as a group. It takes as its input modules that have
been unit tested, groups them in larger aggregates, applies tests defined in an
integration test plan to those aggregates, and delivers as its output the integrated
system ready for system testing.
Deployment Phase. We researchers deploy or distribute the running software for
further evaluation and testing. Service or transaction system is one of the method forms
used to quick and easy give the better service to the customer.

RESEARCH SETTINGS
The Collecting of data and other related information that we researchers need in the
proposed study were conducted in the library of AMA Computer College at Pasig city.
