Corporate Social Responsibility

Long before CSR became a buzzword, L&T was quietly transforming the lives of the underprivileged starting with those
around its manufacturing facilities. Structured around the theme Building Indias Social Infrastructure our CSR policies
and practices are formulated with a view to maximising their impact. Our Integrated Community Development Programme
is aligned with the UN Social Development Goals and addresses the most pressing needs water, sanitation, education,
health and skill-building.
How we undertake CSR is part of our success story. We view our beneficiaries as partners on a journey towards

Campus recruitment
L&Ts campus recruitment teams visit Indias leading colleges, offering opportunities to bright engineers. The selection
process is rigorous and we look for candidates who match L&Ts value system, have a strong knowledge base, and the
skill to apply concepts. Above all we look for commitment and a passion for excellence.

Induction Programme

As part of the on-boarding process, all fresh entrants go through an Induction Programme, a 'finishing school' as it were,
which gives them an overview of the breadth of work. It also helps them get acclimatized to the work ethos and start
delivering from day one. The programme consists of an orientation on L&T, its businesses and projects undertaken.
The trainees work on technical projects, individual assignments, product simulations, and undergo various technical as
well non-technical exercises on-line.
The programme is a good mix of technical & behavioural programmes along with a lot of fun-filled activities such as Inbasket exercises, Games, Contests and Cultural Programmes.

L&T's amazing growth story has been possible because of the fresh talent that flows in from engineering campuses. We believe in
transforming fresh graduate engineers into future leaders by making them go through the crucible of challenging assignments.
L&T visits around 100 campuses where we look for bright engineering talent to partner us in our growth story.

Post-graduate Engineer Trainees (PGETs)
Post-graduate Engineer Trainees (PGETs) play a crucial role in various businesses of L&T, covering functions such as Research & Development,
Design, Engineering and New Product / Process Development. PGETs get a role very specific to their area of specialisation at the post graduate
level.

Activities that are typically envisaged for PGETs are: design calculations, computer-aided high-end engineering analysis, simulation,
optimization, basic and detail engineering, new product or process design / manufacturing, troubleshooting, failure analysis and new
technology development.
These require some degree of specialisation in a relevant engineering discipline, over and above the basic capabilities and knowledge base of
a Graduate Engineer. The academic background of a PGET, academic project work carried out and his / her performance during the selection
process determines the suitability of the candidate for an intended function. However, a balanced skill development plan through appropriate
internal / external training intervention is necessary to enable the PGETs to develop and perform to their fullest potential.
The programme trains the students in deeper theoretical knowledge which will enable them to tackle practical complex problems of design
and development in industrial fields, as well as pursue further academic achievements through research.

Electrical distribution and control has to withstand the toughest tests of reliability. And, one of best examples of this reliability is solutions and
products offered by L&T Electrical & Automation. Over five decades, L&T has understood the industrys requirements for a stable electrical
system and offered products and solutions that continue to seamlessly run and grow business. Design, technology, engineering, quality and
service combine to form an architecture that meets specific needs of automation-driven electricity distribution and control solutions to
industry verticals like oil & gas (upstream, midstream and downstream), power, infrastructure, water, ports, chemicals and metals.

These solutions are an embodiment of life protection and equipment safety, security and energy efficiency. L&T has
translated research and critical marketing inputs into the compact design of its switchboards while addressing energy
saving, safety (its features go beyond the prescribed standards), user convenience and flexibility to reconfigure the
design.
With a wide range of products from the Medium Voltage (MV) range AIS, GIS, RMU and Mobile Compact - from 13.1 kA
to 50 kA, our design and development capability is backed by deep knowledge and a sustainability consciousness to
optimise the use of material and resources. Flexibility is another key capability that facilitates development of highly
customised products and solutions while meeting the challenge of time and cost efficiency for different industry verticals.
The range in the Low Voltage (LV) includes Motor Control Centre, Power Control Centre and Numerical Protection Relays.
The MCC type TQ has been designed to satisfy the most rigorous demands of modern industries. The Power Control
Centre, with type TF, sets takes reliability and convenience to a higher level. This switchboard can withstand extreme
conditions and provide greater safety, accessibility and ease of installation.
L&Ts protections relays FCOMP and MCOMP - are answer to the world of motor protection. MCOMP, designed and
manufactured in-house, is Indias first relay to be certified by Profibus International. It provides an affordable solution for
automation through reduction of discrete components.
L&Ts switchgear components for the industry segment comprise power gear, control gear, metering with communication
devices and energy management system. Its industrial automation solutions cover almost all verticals of industry. With
over three decades of experience, L&T delivers value through systems design, application engineering, application
software, documentation, commissioning and life cycle services to ensure consistently high performance. Our biggest
strength is the ability to integrate different technology platforms like electrical, DCS, PLC, Drives, SCADA, instrumentation
and telecom.
Further, L&T provides CT-operated meters for the purpose of tariff or check metering. These meters have optical and
RS232 / RS485 communication ports and are supported by a versatile Base Computer Software which can be used for
monitoring the data from these meters. L&T also offers a range of direct connected Three Phase and Single Phase
meters, Panel meters & DIN meters which can be used for monitoring energy consumption of various sections of the
industry for the purpose of cost allocations or energy management. These meters have different communication interfaces
such as RS485 or Wi-Fi using which the data can be brought to directly to the control room. L&Ts range of Power Factor
Controllers can be used for monitoring power factor to ensure avoidance of penalty due to low power factor.
