Sarpa means Snakes !

Who is not afraid of snakes? Hence we are also scared of these two doshas in our
natal chart - Naga Dosha and Kalasarpa Dosha. However, if the Girl and Boy
horoscopes are matched properly, there is no need to worry.
Sarpa Yoga is also known as Sarpa Dosha or Naga Dosha. It is caused due to wrath
of the Serpent God in previous birth. Due to Sarpa Yoga, marriages are delayed or
ruined, Progeny may be denied, miscarriages/Abortion will occur. Sarpa Yoga (Sarp
Dosh or Naga Dosha) is different from Kal Sarpa Yoga / Dosha (KSY).
Naga Dosha in the ancient tradition was caused from a previous birth when either
you or your ancestors killed or harmed snakes instead of revering and respecting
them. Snakes, called Naga, are mystical and powerful. They can grant you great
boons or curses respectively. Snakes are also closely associated with Kundalini and
many forms of the Goddess. Vindictiveness against or mistreatment of women,
particularly spiritual women in practice of enlightenment or other psychic pursuits,
also generate a Snake curse on you and future generations. Severe negativity or
blasphemy against Goddess worship can likewise cause Naga Dosha.
Sarpa Dosha can delay marriage and progeny/children.

Ketu or Rahu is placed in Lagna, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, or 12th houses from either

Lagna or Chandra indicate Sarpa Dosha/Naga Dosha.
Women suffering from Sarpa/Naga Dosha will have children after conducting
Pooja of Naga Devatha.
When Ketu or Rahu is placed in 1st or 2nd House, Indicate delay in marriage,
If the person is married, creates problems in family life and sometimes leads
to divorce or separation.
Ketu or Rahu in 5th house leads to delay in getting children/Progeny and also
leads to abortions. Also Rahu aspect on 5th house also indicates Sarpa/Naga
Dosha. Naga Prathistapana at any Naga temple should be done for getting
children.
Ketu or Rahu in 7th house Leads to problems in family life,
misunderstandings, frequent quarrels, wife/Husband will have Health
problems etc.
Ketu or Rahu in 8th house Indicate Health problems of wife or Husband, skin
disease etc. The person suffering from Sarpa/Naga dosha will see
Snakes/Serpents in their dream. That is a clear Indication of Sarpa dosha.

THE ILL EFFECTS OF NAGA DOSHA?

1st & 2nd Houses.

Rahu or Ketu in 2nd place from Lagna or Chandra may lead to difference of
opinions, small fights, Peace and Happiness at home will be disturbed. In extreme
cases it may lead to Separation either temporarily or permanently.
4th House.
Rahu or Ketu in the 4th house may be the reason for Chest pain or ailment, wife's ill
health, and unhappy married life. In some cases it can also lead to Disputes about
Property.
5th House
Rahu or Ketu from lagna or Chandra in 5th house is also Naga Dosha. This can lead
to Abortion and affect the prospects of getting Children. But if the lord of 5th house
(Adhipathi) is in association with a friendly planet, this bad effect will reduce and will
give way for begetting children.
7th House
Rahu or Ketu in 7th hose from Lagna or Chandra is KALATHRA Dosha. This may
affect wife's health, Misunderstanding and fighting between the Couple. In some
cases it can lead to separation. But if the 7th lord or Sukra are strong and friendly
Kalatra Dosha will disappear.
8th House
Because of presence of Rahu or Ketu in the 8th house from Lagna or Rasi, one may
suffer from Health related problems or Bites from Poisonous creatures. There could

separation of the couple could happen. But if the 8th house is aspected by a benefic

1. Naga Dosha is NOT present in both Girl and Boy horoscopes. Marriage can
be recommended.
2. Naga Dosha is present for Boy and Girl. Marriage can be recommended.
3. Naga Dosha is seen in Boy's Horoscope and not in Girl horoscope. Marriage
cannot be recommended.

4. In a Boy's horoscope if Rahu or Ketu is in 2, 4, 7, 8, or 12th place, but is being

aspected by a benefic planet, then a Girl's horoscope with or without Naga
Dosha can be recommended. However, this is only mediocre. Both good and
bad results are felt in the married life of this couple

Natives with Naga Dosha in their horoscope should go to Kalahasthi, Thirunallar, or
Thirunageswaram and do special Pooja / prayer to get rid of the ill effects of Naga
Dosha.

Arulmigu Naganathaswamy temple, Kukke Subramanya temple, Trayambakeswar,
Ghati Subramanya swamy temple, Rameshwaram, Mannarsala temple Kerala.

Rules to be followed for the puja.

1. Perform the Naga/Sarpa dosha puja on auspicious dates only or Puja will not
be effective/fruitful. Avoid doing puja on Dasami, Ekadasi, Ashtami,. Do not
perform the puja during Grahana (solar/Lunar eclipse), or festivals like
Gokulashtami, Sivaratri etc.
2. Dont perform puja nearer to monthly date of girl/woman. Otherwise dosha will
not be removed. Give at least 8 days gap to conduct the puja.
3. Whole family including Grandparents, father, mother, children etc. need to
present for Sarpa dosha Parihara Pooja. But in Kukke Subrahmanya, they
allow only 4 Persons.
4. Perform Sarpa dosha Parihara Pooja during Shasti, as it is an important day
for Lord Subramanya (Lord Karthikeyan), He is the lord of all snakes and
serpents.
5. Pregnant Women should not Visit any of Naga Temple.
6. After conducting Sarpa dosha Parihara Puja in Kukke Subrahmanya/
Tirunageswaram/Kalahasti etc, go home & have bath, dont visit any Vishnu
temples like Tirupati.
7. If you are performing Puja in Morning hours, Dont have any food i,e
Breakfast. You can eat only after Puja is done.
8. Dont do Sastanga in any Naga devata Temple.
