IhaveaLogitechwirelesslasermouseandafterayearorsoofuse,theleft

decidedtoopenherupandseeifitcouldberepaired.Sureenough,It'sapretty
simplefix,ifyouhavesomecommontoolsandateaspoon(edit:atablespoon)of

Beforeyouproceed,besuretonoticetheverytinywhitebuttonlocatedonthe
topcover.Thiswillfallloosewhenthecoverisremoved,andyouwillwanttobe

Thisiswherethepatiencecomesintoplay.Thisisprobablythemosttedious
andtimeconsumingpartoftherepair.
Toreinstallthetensionspring,firstattachittothesmallhookatthefrontofthe
mechanism,asshowninthepicture.Thenusetheflatheadscrewdrivertopush
thecurvedtabintoplacewhilekeepingtherearofthespringunderthesmall
armattherearofthemechanism.Thesecondpictureshowswhatitshouldlook
likeafterbeingreinstalled.Noticethearrowspointingtothespotsthatneedthe
mostattention.Youwantallthreetobecorrectorthemechanismwillnot
operateproperly.
Step9:reassembletheclickmechanismandtest

Next,youwillneedtoreassembletheclickmechanism.Firstreinstallthetiny
whitebuttonintothemechanismcover(youdidremembertofindandsetaside
thetinybuttonright?).Theeasiestwaytodothisisbydroppingorplacingitinto
thecoverwithapairoftweezers.Withonehand,pickupthecoverwhile
keepingitupsidedownsothebuttonstaysinplace.Withtheotherhand,pickup
themousebody,turnitupsidedown,andpushthecoverbackintoplace.Doing
itthiswaywillinsurethatthetinywhitebuttonstaysinplacewhilethe
mechanismisputbacktogether.
Atthispoint,beforereassemblingthemouse,setitdownonthetable,andgive
thetinywhitebuttonafewtestclicks.Youshouldnoticethatitismakingacrisp
clicksoundwhenpressed,andthatitnowspringsbackwithmoreforcethanit
didbefore.Ifyouarenothearingandfeelingadifference,youmayneedtoopen
themechanismbackupandtryretentioningthespringagain.
Ifallseemswell,thangoaheadandputthemousetopbackinplace,reinstall
the4mainscrews,andputtheslidepadsbackinplace.Ifthereisnotenough
adhesivelefttokeeptheslidepadson,youcanaddsomemore.Regularelmers
gluestickhasworkedforme,oradabofsupergluewouldcertainlydothetrick.

Actually
youjustneedtoincreasethestrengthofthecurvedpart(thespring),
soyoucanuseasteelruleorwhatevertoslightlyflattenthecurved
spring,thenputitbackonthecontacts.
Afteryouflattenedthespring,itwillbeharderforyoutoputitbackonthetiny
switch.
Idon'thavetweezerswithme,Iusedapairofnoseplierstoputthespringback
inplace.Mymouseislikenewagain.

Reinstalltensionspring,you(1)placethecurvedtab(which
isinthemiddleofthespring)atanangleonthetinyledgeof
themetalpieceonthemechanismfirst,then(2)hookthe
springontothefrontpartofthemechanism,beforefinally(3)
slidingthespringbeneaththerearpartofthemechanism?
Ididnothavemuchluckwiththeoriginalactionseriesof2

theyears,I've"repaired"manyelectricalswitchessimplyby
cleaningsoIthoughtI'dgivethisagoandchanceditwithout

overcastoutdoorlighting!Ihadtobothertogetoutmyfine

thatwasn'tdifficultonceI'dchosentherighttool.

haven'thadaworkingswitchyet,despitedoingthisontwo

Greattutorial!Iwasalmostthereputitbacktogetherand
everythingbeforeIwantedtoadjustthespringsome
moreandLOSTIT.Butanewmouseisn'tthatexpensive...
Ihaveawiredmouseandeverythingisbasicallythesame,
exceptIonlyhad2screwssotheshellslippedoffata
weirdangleandIaccidentallybrokealatch(notimportant).
Thetinyboxthatyouneedtoprythelatchesoffisalsoa
littledifferent,butit'sstraightforwardenoughifyoutakethe
entiremotherboardoffsonoplasticpiecesareintheway.I
didn'thavetweezerswithmeeither,butIwasableto
balancethetinybuttonontheflatheadofthescrewdriver.
Alternatively,youcanopenthelatch/boxupsidedownso
youneverhavetodealwiththebuttoncomingout.

Workedlikeacharm.Tosavesomepeoplesomesanity,
letmesayyoucanaddtensiontothepiecewithout
removingit.Simplystickatoothpickunderthecurvedbitof
thetensionerandpushup.Thiswillstraightenthecurvea
bitwhichaddsthetensionthesamethingyouaredoing
whenyouremoveitandthenalteritbutwithoutthechance
ofdamagingthepartinremovalorreinstallation.

Yeahwhendoingthispleaseputyourfingeroverthewhite
button!Unfortunatelyinmycaseitwasred,andwhenI
wastryingtoreleasethesmallblackbox,itflewawaywith
theredbutton(onacarpetanddarkwoodenfloors,at
night).Ittookabout2minutesformetofindtheblackbox,
butafteralmost10minuteslookingforthesmallbuttonI
gaveup.Afterafewsecondslookingatthemouse,I
figuredI'dusethebuttonfromthescrollwheelclick,which
Idon'treallyuseatall.Thistime,Iputmyfingeroverthe
boxandgotitoffwithouteitherofthemflyingaway.But,
whenIwenttoputtheredbuttonintheotherblackbox,it
accidentallyfelltoo.SothistimeIsearchedforabout15
minutesandgaveupagain.Thankgodit'salaptop.I
guesstomorrowI'llsweepthefloorandhopefullyit'llshow
up!
