Note: Make sure that the proper imagePASS-M3 unit is being used with the proper copier/printer model. Both
imagePASS-M3 products will continue to be available to support the copier/printers listed above.
DETAILS:
The following lists the new features included in System Software v1.1:
1. Support for VNC through the imagePASS-M3 v1.1 will allow the proper operation of the Remote
Operators Software Kit-A1 option for the imageRUNNER 5570/6570.
2. LDAP Support an LDAP server can be specified for use in referencing Address Books.
3. RIP-Then-Print When this option is enabled, the imagePASS will RIP the current job entirely before
printing it and will not RIP the next job while the current job is printing.
4. CCP Restriction This option will ignore Canon Configurator Protocol packets. This could impact
certain Canon Network Utilities such as NetSpot Device Installer, which utilizes this protocol during
initial device discovery.
The following are the restrictions of the imagePASS-M3 v1.1 software:

Points To Note When Replacing the Motherboard

The motherboard offered as a service part comes with a USB dongle and a Restore/Update CD, which are
used to restore the settings on the HDD to the new motherboard. It is therefore important that System
Software is NOT re-installed immediately after replacing the motherboard. Prior to installing the System
Software, go through the steps outlined in TP05 043.pdf and the Installation and Service Guide.
Points To Note When Replacing the HDD
The settings relating to the options and the motherboard will be backed up on the motherboard. After the
HDD is replaced and the System Software install is complete the settings are put back onto the HDD. Be sure
to go through the following instructions when replacing the HDD:
1) Replace the HDD
2) Reinstall the System Software.
Note: The Settings of the motherboard will be backed up to the HDD at this point.
3) If any fonts had previously been downloaded to the old HDD, they should be downloaded at this
time.
Caution: Do not replace the HDD at the same time as the motherboard. The settings stored on the
HDD and the existing motherboard will all be lost. If both need to be replaced, start with
the HDD, and install the System Software; then, replace the motherboard, and update the
system.
SERVICE PARTS:
The part numbers for the imagePASS-M3 v1.1 are essentially the same as those of the imagePASS-M3 v1.0
as documented in TP05 043.pdf. The only differences are in the part numbers for the Media Pack and the
System Software CD. The part numbers of those items for v1.1 are as follows and will be available shortly:
Part Number
FE1-6056-000
FE1-6058-000

Quantity
Description
1
CD-ROM, MEDIAPACK, US
1
CD-ROM SYSTEM S/W, ROMAN

Note: These parts are for use in conjunction with an original imagePASS-M3 v1.1 unit ONLY. They are
NOT for upgrading current imagePASS-M3 v1.0 units.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
1. The imagePASS-M3 is supported for use with the C-type BootROM ONLY.
2. When booting the imagePASS-M3 for the first time, or after any reinstallation of the System Software,
there will be a prompt to enter a password. The default password is Fiery.1.
3. The Installation and Service Guide for the imagePASS-M3 contains important instructions and
information related to servicing procedures for this unit. These items are important for the
imagePASS-M3 v1.1 as well. This document is associated with Technical Publication TP05 043.pdf
on e-Support. This Technical Publication also includes important part number information.
4. Care should be taken when replacing the motherboard. Detailed instructions regarding how to replace
the motherboard can be found on page 4-25 of the Installation and Service Guide. It is important to
remember that when replacing a motherboard, the CPU and RAM DIMMs need to be transferred from
the old motherboard to the new one. Service Part motherboards do NOT include these items. It is also
important to note that BIOS chips are not interchangeable. Do not transfer the BIOS chip from the old
motherboard to the new motherboard.
5. If possible, do not replace the Hard Disk Drive and the motherboard at the same time. Doing so in the
wrong order without updating the system could cause the system to not function. If the Hard Disk
Drive and the motherboard are suspected, try replacing the Hard Disk Drive first and reinstall system
software. If a problem still exists, then consider replacing the motherboard.
6. Care should be taken when it is necessary to power off the imagePASS-M3. Prior to turning off the
power, the OS needs to be properly shut down. To do so, press the menu button and select Shut
Down and then select Shut Down System. After the OS has shut down, the back light on the display
will turn off. Then the power switch must be turned to the off position to completely shut off the
imagePASS-M3.
7. The imagePASS-M3 v1.1 supports the imageRUNNER 5570/6570 copiers. Should the
imagePASS-M3 be moved from any imageRUNNER to another imageRUNNER, be sure to execute a
Factory Default before you connect the imagePASS-M3. Executing a Factory Default enables the
imagePASS-M3 to be connected to a new, different copier.
8. The imagePASS-M3 v1.1 can only be connected to an imageRUNNER 5570/6570 copier. The
imagePASS-M3 v1.1 CANNOT be connected to an imageRUNNER 8070/9070/105+ copier,
imageRUNNER 85+ printer or imageRUNNER 5020/6020/7200/8500/85/105 copier.
9. When installing an imagePASS-M3, be careful to plug the network cables for the connection to the
copier and the connection to the network into the proper ports on the back of the imagePASS-M3.
The top most network port is used to connect to the copier. The port immediately below the top most
port is used to connect to the network. The port in the expansion card (Video PCB) is not used. Refer
to the Installation Procedure or the Installation and Service Guide for details.
