This note describes how to install MIKE C-MAP and C-MAPs CM-93/3 digital chart database. How to do
it depends on whether you are a new user or an existing user of MIKE C-MAP, and at the same time
whether you already have C-MAPs CM-93/3 technology installed or this is the first license to install.
MIKE C-MAP Installation Procedure for New Users
Congratulations with your MIKE C-MAP software package holding the following:

MIKE C-MAP installation DVD (or zipped MIKE C-MAP installation files if downloaded from
www.dhigroup.com or ftp server)
DHI Software license file
User Guide for MIKE Zero Add-on Modules
DHI Software License and Maintenance Agreements
C-MAP USB Aladdin eToken dongle
C-MAP license file
CM93/3 data DVD

Installing MIKE C-MAP

1. Close down all windows programs currently running on your computer
2. To install MIKE C-MAP insert the DVD or start the setup.exe file found in the downloaded folder. The
setup program automatically installs all necessary MIKE C-MAP files and folders on your PC.
Additionally, a MIKE C-MAP group is created, containing icons for MIKE C-MAP, chart administration
components, ReadMe and Release Note.
3. Follow the instructions as displayed by the Install Shield Wizard. The steps are outlined below. The 7
first steps refer to the DHI Software license.
3.1. After the Welcome page click next.
3.2. Please read the License Agreement carefully click yes if you can accept and want to
continue with the installation and click next.
3.3. Type of License Management select the Local. License file will be installed locally on the
machine and click next. If you already have MIKE Zero installed you can select unchanged.
3.4. In the Choose DHI License File dialog insert the media with the DHI License file or browse to
another location where the DHI Software License file is stored.
3.5. Configure DHI Auto Updater tick enable if you want MIKE C-MAP automatically updated with
new service packs and click next.
3.6. A Destination Location dialog appears asking about the folder where to install MIKE C-MAP.
Choose the destination location and click next.
3.7. Start Copying Files allows you to review settings before start copying files click Install if OK
3.8. A dialog box appears (if not immediate present check in the task bar) asking you to insert the
eToken dongle.
3.9. The C-MAP CM-93/3 Database Administration dialog appears for registering the chart
database. Decide where you want to have the database located. Insert the C-MAP data CD
and for quicker processing you can copy it to your hard drive (the database requires
approximately 700Mb free space), or run straight from the DVD, or from a network (only if
license agreement permits). Choose the directory where the database is located and once the
database is found, the database name will be visible in the Available database frame to the
left e.g.: World Issue Number 270. The 3 digit number refers to C-MAP database issuing
number. Here as of November 2006.
3.10. Click Register Database
3.11. Close GDBAdmin
4. Finally, the Install Shield Wizard Complete appears. If required, youre asked whether you want to
restart the computer now or later - otherwise finish the installation. Although, as the Windows
Operating Systems under which MIKE C-MAP works contain automatic configuring, it is
recommended to restart the computer
5. Open the program LicenseAdm found in the start menu (Start ->Programs->DHI Software->MIKE CMAP).
5.1. In the right hand side of the LicenseAdm window choose the Zone or Areas which your license
has been generated for (eg. Zone 1). Enter the C-MAP license string, i.e. the 16 digit code,
either manually (please note that the letter O is not used, 0 is the digit zero in the license
string), or copy and paste into the License String window. When entered click Add License. This
will take a few seconds to process and upon completion should result in a message "License
has been added successfully". Choose OK.

5.2. Close the LicenseAdm

6. Open MIKE C-MAP by clicking the icon and press the Zoom World button in the taskbar. Now you
are ready to view your charts and zoom into any area of interest covered by your chart database
license and extract the data and export land, water and tidal information into MIKE Zero.

EXISTING C-MAP CM 93/3 USERS

If you already have installed a product that is using C-Map CM-93/3 digital charts, for example C-MAPs
OceanViewTM , and at the same time is using Microsoft Windows 2000/XP, please observe the following:
1. Dongle based C-MAP licenses.
1.1. You can continue with your existing C-MAP chart license for use with MIKE C-MAP on the same
computer. However, before you proceed with the installation of MIKE C-MAP please make sure
that your present application of the C-MAP License works on your PC.
1.2. When installing MIKE C-MAP a message appears "Setup has detected an existing installation.
Do you want to reset your installation and obtain new licenses from C-MAP?" Click No and
follow the Install Shield Wizard through to have MIKE C-MAP installed without changing your
existing C-MAP license.
1.3. In case you need new chart areas or want to update your C-MAP chart database you can either
continue with your existing license agreement and place your order to C-MAP directly, or, if you
want to associate your C-MAP license with MIKE C-MAP, the C-MAP license office must be
notified before you request a new C-MAP dongle and chart coverage in an e-mail to DHI
Software Sales & Support: software@dhigroup.com. In the latter case you say Yes to message
given in 1.2 above, when installing MIKE C-MAP.
2. Soft-key based C-MAP licenses
2.1. C-MAP Norway automatically offers their holders of Subscription based licenses a shift to the
dongle based system for free.
2.2. Holders of One-off purchase licenses can move their chart database to the dongle based
system for 50 % of the original price. If you want this and at the same time want to associate
your C-MAP license with MIKE C-MAP, you can request a C-MAP dongle and chart coverage in
an e-mail to DHI Software Sales & Support: software@dhigroup.com
2.3. License holders who want to keep their soft key based license will still get support from C-MAPs
license office whenever a reinstallation or similar requires a new license character string. If you
decide to continue with your existing C-MAP license please make sure before you install MIKE
C-map, that your present application of the C-MAP license work on your PC.
2.4. In case you want to install MIKE C-MAP and at the same time keep your soft key based C-MAP
chart protection system, the installation is again checking for possible existing licenses and the
following message appears:
"Setup has detected an existing installation. Do you want to reinitialize your installation and
obtain new licenses from C-MAP?" + "NOTE: All licenses obtained from C-MAP are lost!"
Here you answer No and MIKE C-MAP will be installed without changing your C-MAP license.
Installation Procedure for Existing MIKE C-MAP Users
If you already are using MIKE C-MAP, and want to install the latest MIKE C-MAP version, the installation
procedure will likewise depend on the type of C-MAP chart protection you possess, and at the same time
on whether you are a holder of a valid DHI Service & Maintenance Agreement (SMA) for MIKE C-MAP or
not.
1. MIKE C-MAP Users with SMA
1.1. Dongle based C-MAP chart license
Please observe the guidance for how to deal with the C-MAP license part mentioned in the
above section Existing C-MAP CM-93/3 Users.
1.2. Soft-key based C-MAP chart license.
If you want to keep your C-MAP license please make sure to keep a back-up of your old MIKE
C-MAP installation. You will need this in case you shift to e.g. a new computer and want to
generate the user.usr file that are used to obtain the PC dedicated C-map license string through
C-maps license office at license@c-map.no . This is required because the MIKE C-MAP version
you have received/downloaded not will be able to generate the user.usr file. If you change
computer youll then have to install the old MIKE C-MAP version to generate the user.usr file.
Obtain the PC dedicated license string from C-MAP. Remove the old MIKE C-MAP installation
again and install the latest MIKE C-MAP version and as mentioned in section 2.4 under Existing
C-MAP CM-93/3 Users.above say No when prompted for new licenses for C-MAP.
2. MIKE C-MAP Users without SMA
Please do not install the latest MIKE C-MAP version.
