AL J. SCHNEIDER COMPANY APPOINTS NEW CFO

LOUISVILLE, KY (January 11, 2007) – The Al J. Schneider Company, Louisville’s largest

owner- operator of hotels with real estate and lumber divisions, announces the
appointment of Ron Strecker to the position of Chief Financial Officer effective
immediately. The Al J. Schneider Company owns and operates the Galt House Hotel &
Suites, Executive Inn, Executive West, Waterfront Plaza, One Riverfront Plaza and Home
Lumber Supply. In the newly created position, Strecker will oversee the financial
operations and strategic planning for all of the company’s holdings.

Strecker, a native of Lexington, Virginia, comes to the Al J. Schneider Company from the
Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. For Strecker, the move to Louisville is a return to the
town where he first began his professional career 26 years ago at the downtown Hyatt.
He spent 11 years with Hyatt, also working in Dallas, Austin and Kansas City. In addition,
he has held positions at Crowne Plaza in Rockville, MD and Grenelefe Golf and Tennis
Resort in Haines City, FL. Strecker is a graduate of James Madison University and an
active member in Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals. His professional
certifications include CHAE (Certified Hospitality Accounting Executive) and CHTP (Certified
Hospitality Technology Professional). He comes to Louisville with his wife, Teresa, and
their children Scott and Allison.

“We are very pleased to welcome Ron to the Al J. Schneider Company,” said Mary
Moseley, president. “His background, especially in the hotel industry will prove very
beneficial as we move the company forward. The recently completed $60 million
renovation to the Galt House was just the beginning. We have big plans for the company
as well as downtown Louisville and are counting on Ron and the rest of our team to help
us reach our goals.”

“There’s a lot more to do downtown than last time I was here,” said Strecker. “The
museums have become more prominent and it’s much more visitor friendly. What the
Schneider Family has done for the waterfront is phenomenal. This is a brand new
position, so I see my role evolving over time. In the short run, we’ll concentrate on
developing strategic plans for the overall company for the next 5, 10, 15 years, growing
the businesses, determining our strengths and making things more efficient.”
