PURPOSE:
WelcometoMathI,Iamlookingforwardtoanexciting,rewarding,andproductiveschoolyear,
duringwhichyouwillachievesuccessinmasteringthestandardsofyourcourse.Mathematicsisnotan
easycourse.YouwillseematerialfromyourMath7&Math8course,aswecontinuetobuildonthose
skillsinthiscourse.Youmayunderstandsomeaspectsofthecourse,andyoumaybelostintranslation
atsomepointsinthecourse.Someofyourpeerswillmovequickerthanyou,andsomemaynot,but
youareresponsiblefortakingonthechallengeandsucceeding
foryourself

HOMEWORK
:
ExpecthomeworkEVERYNIGHTINTHEWEEK,includingweekends!Homeworkisan
importantpartoflearning.Studentsareexpectedtowritehomeworkassignmentsintheir
notebook/paperandalsoreferencetheirhomeworklist.Parentsbesuretocheckandaskyourstudentif
theyhavecompletedtheirassignments.Itisthestudentsresponsibilitytofindoutaboutandmakeup
classworkandhomeworkduringanabsence.Studentsshouldmakearrangementswithanotherstudent
inthisclasstobeabletocallhim/hertofindoutaboutmissedclassworkandassignmentsthatyou
missedwhenabsent.Studentsshouldbesuretohaveatleasttwostudentstocontactincaseoneofthem
isabsentalso.Homeworkismeanttobepracticeforproblemsonthechaptertest,finalexams,and

CITIZENSHIPGRADE:
Citizenshipgradesareissuedeachquarter.AnOutstanding(O)citizenshipgradeisearnedif

1. Academicdishonesty(cheating)willresultinazeroandanunsatisfactorycitizenshipgrade.
2. Tardinesswillresultindetentionand,afterfivetardiesorabsencesperquarter,inan
unsatisfactorycitizenshipgrade.
3. Destruction/abuseofpropertywillresultinafineandanunsatisfactorycitizenshipgrade.
4. Excessiveneglectofresponsibilitieswillresultinanunsatisfactorycitizenshipgrade.
ASatisfactory(S)gradewillbeearnedifthecriteriaforOutstandingcitizenshiparenotmetandif

SCHOOLPOLICIES:

Tardinessisdefinedas:
Studentswillbeinsidetheclassroombythetimethetardybellrings.
Allstudentsmustfollowthedresscodepolicyintheirstudenthandbook,whichwassignedduringregistration.
Hatswillbeconfiscatedfromanystudentwhowearsorcarriesahatatanytimeduringschoolhours(including

TechnologyExpectations:
ThisisthefirstschoolyearwherestudentswillbeassignedaChromebook.Inthiscoursewewillbe
implementingtheuseofGoogleClassroom,aswellasotherappsthatparents&studentsmayaccess.
Forinstance,ClassDojo,Remind,WeeblyWebsite,etc.TheChromebookisatoolusedintheclassroom
andwillbemonitoredintheclassroom.Studentsmusttreatitliketheirowntextbook,haveitfully
chargedbeforecomingtoschool,anduseitforschoolpurposesduringclass.Consequenceswilloccurif
studentsmisusetheirChromebook.
