Blog 3- Technology Literacy Checklist

After completing the Technology Literacy checklist in your e-textbook, reflect on your personal
level of competency at the beginning of this course. Be specific about what you know and
understand about each competency, any areas of confusion, and the areas you most need to
improve upon. Include any new skills or knowledge you acquired in the first two sessions of the
class.
After having completed the Technology Literacy Checklist I found that the majority of them I
understand how to do to a point. However, there are a few that I dont quite understand how to
do or what they are referring to:
1. I can describe the P21 criteria for preparing 21st Century Learners.
*Not sure what the P21 criteria is*
2. I can use a stand-alone and networked computer system.
*Not sure if this means I know how to use both a computer of my own and a networked
computer such as a school network or library*
3. I can use academic software to reinforce student learning.
*I am unsure if this means academic software already handed to me for teaching
necessities or stuff that I have to do with academic software to prepare it for the teaching
at hand*
4. I can creatively integrate technology to support P21 competencies
*This goes with number one same issue with P21*
5. I can use technology to accurately assess student progress in a variety of ways.
*Im not quite sure if I know how to do this or not*
6. I can use technology to support learner-centered strategies and meet content standards.
*I was unsure if this meant student strategies by learner-centered for example they
chose the strategies*
7. I can use technology to address special needs students unique requirements.
*As of right now I do not know much about how to handle special needs students unique
requirements in a classroom setting because I have never really researched it before nor
have I ever worked with a special needs student*
Now the things I know for sure how to do or what to do are 2, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 19, 22,
and 24 on the Technology Literacy Checklist if you were to count each one. The others
that are not listed above or in the numbers I just listed are somewhat in the middle
category because I understand them I just am not fully capable yet of doing them
completely.
