The play, in partnership with Ley La Salle, Junior Chambers International and
Naflora, was held on June 5, 2015 at the Teresa Yuchengo Auditorium. It features three
monologues of three women of varied ages and needs who struggle to fulfill their
dreams because they had to put them on hold for one reason or another. I was
privileged to witness a play about a very timely issue in our society. It gradually sinks in
how the women of today are being hindered in achieving their dreams because of the
societal priorities, fear, and old age. It makes me cringe to accept the unfortunate fact of
discrimination that is still evident even if laws have already provided protection for
women. Just like Jas (a teenager) in the play, I can actually relate myself to being kept
because of my parents' fear of others. I am prohibited to stay late at night because of
what might possibly happen. They are too scared that they neglect to trust me that I am

capable of protecting myself. Sometimes it bothers me. Does it really play a significance
whether you are born a male or a female? What is the true meaning of gender equality?
The play has brought so many realizations. Even if it tackled a sensitive issue in the
society, it was effortlessly entertaining. After the play, an ob-gyne gave a speech about
the importance of hygiene especially for female. At first, it sounded awkward especially
when we also have a couple of boys in our audience but as the speaker went on with
her speech all became well. Students became more participative as the speaker caught
their attention about the misconceptions about a womans vagina.

The play addresses one theme and that is women empowerment. I believe that
watching plays like this is a new form of learning what really needs to be solved in our
present day situation. As a woman, I dont settle for injustice and for being inferior
against any man. More than anything, women are Gods beautiful creation because we
are capable of giving birth to another form of life. Women are not weak. We never are. It
is time to take the leap and that we all have the privilege to speak and be protected from
harm. And that equality in all aspects is what we envision.
