Chapter 1
Welcome to the Configuration Guide
Web Setup is a user-friendly Web interface that allows you to easily configure your MegaPX IR Dome
cameras. Designed for the quick and effective configuration of devices, this powerful tool allows
your March Networks cameras to achieve optimum performance.

Understanding the Web Setup


Using the Web Setup, an administrator can:

Configure and maintain MegaPX IR Dome cameras.

Configure the integrated video analytics.

Configure direct video recording on an SDHC card (not provided with the camera) or on a NAS
(Network Attached Storage) device.

Device Configuration and Maintenance


After connecting the camera to the network and applying power, as outlined in the MegaPX IR
Dome Installation Guide, you can configure your MegaPX IR Dome camera to capture and stream
images. The Web Setup can be accessed by any computer running Microsoft Windows either through
a local connection to the camera or a remote network connection.
As part of your system programming and maintenance tasks, you can:

Locally or remotely access the camera and verify that the device is working properly. For
example, you can view video or test the motion detection feature.

Configure the device settings to better meet your organizations needs. For example, you can
specify different encoding profiles or enable LDAP server authentication.

Check the recording status on an microSDHC card or a NAS device.

Understanding the Product Suite

Understanding the Product Suite


MegaPX IR Dome can be used and configured with the following software applications.

Component

Description

Web Setup

A Web page that allows you to configure and maintain a


camera or an encoder.

Command Professional &


Command Lite

The key component of Command Professional and its free


version Command Lite is the Command Recording Server (CRS),
which supports the recording, storage, retrieval, and
management of video evidence. Evidence is streamed to the
CRS by IP cameras, encoders, and NVRs using a network
connection.

Command Enterprise

A management server that monitors devices from a central


location, allowing administrators to manage user accounts
system-wide, apply system-wide configuration updates, monitor
the system health, and centrally manage firmware updates for
connected devices.

VisionWeb

An integrated Web server that allows you to access live and


recorded video streams from a camera or an encoder.

SiteManager

A video management software that allows you to manage


multi-site CCTV installations and retrieve video evidence from
the edge devices local storage.

Device Browser

A utility that allows you to detect March Networks devices on


the network and modify their network configurations.

What does this Guide Provide?


This guide outlines the configuration, maintenance, and administration activities that administrators
can perform to set up their March Networks cameras.
This guide is intended for system administrators and operators.
This guide refers to MegaPX IR Dome firmware version 1.11.1.

Chapter 2
Reviewing the System Requirements
This chapter describes the minimum system requirements for the Web Setup and the integrated
VisionWeb server.
Ensure the computer from which you will access your MegaPX IR Dome camera meets the following
minimum requirements.
Note: For information about the system requirements for SiteManager, see the latest Release Notes
for the Command suite, available on the March Networks Partner Portal.

Chapter 3
Detecting the Camera on the Network
This chapter describes how to detect one or more MegaPX IR Dome cameras on the local area
network (LAN) using the Device Browser application, supplied with the software CD.

Installing the Device Browser


The Device Browser is a user-friendly Network Discovery Utility that allows you to configure the
network settings of each March Networks device on the network. After connecting the MegaPX IR
Dome to the network for the first time, it must be detected and/or edited to allow connection to the
camera.
Note: The camera is by default in DHCP mode. If the DHCP service is not active or if the camera
cannot contact the DHCP server, the camera reverts to a generic static IP address, 169.254.XXX.XXX.
To install and launch the Device Browser application
1 Insert your Software CD into the computers CD-ROM drive.
Note: If the language selection page does not automatically appear, double-click the
Autorun.exe file on the CD.

After selecting the interface language, click Software.

On the Software page, click Device Browser.


The browsers main interface appears.

Performing Searches

Note: If a Windows Firewall warning appears, click Allow to launch the application.

Tip: You can also permanently copy Device Browser on your computer:
a Insert your Software CD into the computers CD-ROM drive.
b Close the setup interface.
c Using Windows Explorer, right-click the CD and select Explore.
d Navigate to the Software folder.
e Copy and paste the application in a directory of your choice.
f Launch the application by double-clicking it.

Performing Searches
You can use the Device Browser to search for every March Networks device connected to the
network. You can use the sorting and filtering options to locate a specific device.
To perform a search
1 In the Search options section, click one of the options described in the following table to filter
the results.
Note: In most cases Fast search correctly identifies every device connected to the network.

The search options are described in the following table.


Search Options
Option

Description

Fast search

Click Fast search to perform a quick scan and find the March
Networks devices connected to the network.

In-depth search

Click In-depth search to perform a thorough network scan and


find all of the March Networks devices connected to the
network. This process is slower but more accurate than the Fast
Search option.

Click a Sorting option to configure the way in which search results will be displayed.

Use the Filter by any or all of the criteria below feature to refine the results using the search
criteria you specify.

Performing Searches

Select the Apply Filter check box and click Type or Model to filter the results by device type or
model.
The filter By Type mode is described in the following table.

Select the Camera check box to show only cameras.

I/O Board

Select the I/O Board check box to show only Input Output
Extension Boards.

Select all

Click Select all to choose all of the types or models in the list.

Click None to deselect all of the types or models in the list.

Click Search to perform a network search.


After a few moments, the results appear.

Configuring Network Options

Configuring Network Options


You can use the Device Browser to edit the network configuration of a MegaPX IR Dome camera.
To configure the network options
1 Click a MegaPX IR Dome camera in the device list.
The Device Details panel appears to the right of the device list.

Modify the Device Details options, as required.

The Device Details options are described in the following table.

Closes the Device Details menu.

Name

Shows the descriptive name for the device.

MAC Address

Shows the unique address provided to every device. This setting


is read-only.

Model

Identifies the device model. This setting is read-only.

IP Address

Shows the devices IP Address.

Subnet Mask

Shows the devices Subnet Mask (usually 255.255.XXX.XXX).

Gateway

Shows the devices Gateway.

DNS

Shows the DNS server for the connection to the device.

Click Send Config to apply the changes.

Log on to the MegaPX IR Dome camera with a valid User name (default: admin) and Password
(default: no password).

Accessing VisionWeb and the Web Setup


You can start VisionWeb and the Web Setup directly from the Device Browser.

Accessing VisionWeb
VisionWeb is an integrated Web server that allows access to the cameras live video stream from any
computer locally or remotely connected to the network.
To access VisionWeb
1 In the Device Browser, select a camera and then click Open in the Device Details panel.
The VisionWeb interface opens in an Internet Explorer window.

Log on to the VisionWeb interface with a valid User name (default: admin) and Password
(default: no password).
Note: For more information about the VisionWeb server, see Accessing VisionWeb on
page 63.

Accessing Web Setup


The Web Setup is a Web page that allows you to configure MegaPX IR Dome cameras.
To access the Web Setup
1 In the Device Web Browser, select a camera and then click Full Setup in the Device Details
panel.
The Web Setup opens in an Internet Explorer window.

Getting Started

Log on to the Web Setup with a valid User name (default: admin) and Password (default: no
password).
Note: For more information about the Web Setup interface, see Accessing the Web Setup
Page on page 16.

Getting Started
Before connecting to the Web Setup interface, you must detect your MegaPX IR Dome camera on
the network. You can also set a static IP address without accessing the Web Setup interface.
Tip: It is recommended that you make a note of the MAC address of the camera before performing
the search. The MAC address is on a label on the camera.
To detect the camera
1 In the Search options section, click Fast search.

Select the Apply Filter check box and click By Model.

Click None.

Select the MegaPX IR Dome check box.

Click Search to perform a network search.


After a few moments, the results appear.

(Optional) To configure a static address for the camera


1 Select the camera in the list. If more than one MegaPX IR Dome has been installed on your
network, click the camera corresponding to the correct MAC address.
The Device Details panel appears to the right of the device list.

Enter a static IP address in the IP Address field.


Tip: Optionally, you can also change the Gateway and the DNS servers.

Click Send Config to apply the changes.

Log on to the camera with a valid User name (default: admin) and Password (default: no
password).

The cameras IP address is changed and you can now access the Web Setup interface by clicking
the Full Setup button.

Chapter 4
Configuring MegaPX IR Dome
This chapter provides information and procedures to configure a MegaPX IR Dome using the Web
Setup page.
Important: The ONVIF protocol integration is enabled by default, and allows you to control a
MegaPX IR Dome using applications that are compliant with the ONVIF standard. The cameras
ONVIF profile name is Onvif profile 1-1 for the first encoding profile and Onvif profile 1-2 for the
second encoding profile (case sensitive).

Accessing the Web Setup Page


In addition to starting the Web Setup through the Device Browser, you can launch it directly through
your Internet browser.
Note: The Web Setup page is designed to work with Internet Explorer 7 (or later) and it is strongly
recommended that you use this browser. You can use another browser, however you may
experience issues when integrating the ActiveX control that is required for this tool.
To access the Web Setup
1 Open Internet Explorer.

enter the cameras IP address followed by /setup/, for example:


http://169.254.100.100/setup/

Tip: You can also access the Web Setup page using the Device Browser application. For more
information, see Accessing VisionWeb and the Web Setup on page 13.

Log on with a valid User name (default: admin) and Password (default: no password).

Note: The Web Setup interface may require that you install the March Networks ActiveX plugin to display the video. Click the Internet Explorer warning bar and allow for the plug-in
installation.

Upgrading a MegaPX IR Dome


You can easily upgrade your camera's firmware using the Web Setup page.
To upgrade the cameras firmware
1 Download the latest firmware for your MegaPX IR Dome camera from the March Networks
Partner Portal, and unzip it in a directory of your choice.
Important: It is strongly recommended that you check for firmware updates before you
configure the camera.
Note: To download the camera firmware you must register your account on the March
Networks Partner Portal. The account must also be validated by March Networks.

After you access the Web Setup page, click Device management in the selection menu and
select Firmware upgrade.

The firmware update dialog box appears.

Click Browse, navigate to the firmware folder, select it, and click Open.

Managing Configuration Files

When the confirmation dialog box appears, click Yes.

Click Upload to start the upgrade process.

WARNING:

You must NOT turn off the camera or unplug the Ethernet cable from the device
during the upgrade process!

When the upgrade process is complete, the camera automatically restarts.

Managing Configuration Files


The Device management menu allows you to manage the MegaPX IR Dome configuration files.
To configure the options on the Device management menu
1 In the selection menu, click Device management.
A menu appears.

Select a device management option.


The options are described in the following table.

Description

Restore factory defaults

Discards any new settings and returns the device to the default
configuration.

Import configuration

Imports and applies a saved configuration file. This action opens


a load window. Enter the file path, or click Browse to locate
the file.

Device Management Options


Option

Description

Export configuration

Exports the current settings to an external file. This action


opens a save window.

Firmware upgrade

Launches the firmware update process. For more information,


see Upgrading a MegaPX IR Dome on page 18.

Status

Displays information about the camera and the firmware


version.

Device identify

This option is not applicable: the camera has no visible status


LEDs.

Device reboot

Restarts the camera.

Credits

Displays the Third Party Software License.

The System menu allows you to configure user accounts, change the time and date settings, and
extend your license.
To configure the options on the System menu
1 In the selection menu, click System.

Reviewing the Camera Configurations


The Information page is a read-only page that allows you to review the main configurations
applied to the MegaPX IR Dome camera.

Creating, Editing, and Deleting Local User Accounts


You can change the administrators password and create local user accounts in the Users page. You
can also delete local user accounts.
Note: Local user accounts are directly configured on the camera.
WARNING:

It is recommended that you change the administrators password when you first
configure your MegaPX IR Dome. Only administrators can create and delete user
accounts.

To change the administrators password


1 In the Users settings window, click the administrators account.

Double-click the administrators Password.

enter a new Password for the administrators account.

Click Submit to confirm the changes.

To add a local user account


1 In the Users settings window, click Add user.
The new account appears in the Users page with the name New #.

Double-click the users Username or Password.

enter a new Username and Password for the account.

In the Rights panel, select the user profile from the Group list.

The available options are described in the following table.

Operator (ONVIF)

The user can configure all of the cameras option (excluding


Users, Date and Time, and Network) using an ONVIF

channels, but cannot configure the cameras options and
cannot access the Web Setup interface.

clearing the check boxes.

Click Submit to confirm the changes.

To delete a local user account


1 In the Users settings window, click the account you want to delete.

Click the Del user button. The account is automatically deleted without asking for a
confirmation.

Importing, Creating and Editing LDAP User Accounts


MegaPX IR Dome is compatible with LDAP servers, and allows you to import and/or create user
accounts based on an LDAP user list. When an LDAP user account attempts to connect to the device,
the MegaPX IR Dome automatically establishes a connection to the LDAP server to check and
authenticate the users credentials.
To configure the connection to an LDAP server
1 In the System menu, click LDAP.
The LDAP settings page appears.

In the Server panel, select Yes from the Enabled list to enable the connection to the LDAP
server.

Enter the LDAP servers IP Address and communication Port, if required.

Select the LDAP protocol Version from the list.


Options include v2 and v3.

Select the user authentication Method from the list.


Options include Simple and Digest.
Note: The Digest method may require you to specify the Digest URI value.

Click Submit to confirm the changes.


MegaPX IR Dome automatically attempts to establish a connection to the configured LDAP
server.

After a successful connection, select the servers Distinguished Name (DN) string from the Base
list.
Tip: You can also manually enter the DN string by clicking the Base field.

Click Submit to confirm the changes.

To manually create LDAP user accounts


1 After configuring and establishing a successful connection to the LDAP server, click User in the
System menu.

The User settings page appears.

Click Add user.


The new account appears in the Users page with the name New #.

Double-click the users Username or Password.

Enter a new Username and Password for the account.


Note: The credentials must match the LDAP credentials for the user.

Double-click the Type field and select LDAP from the list.

In the Rights panel, select the user profile from the Group list.

The available options are described in the following table.

To automatically import users from the LDAP server


1 After configuring and establishing a successful connection to the LDAP server, enter the
Username and Password required to access the users list on the LDAP server.

Click the List users button to download the list from the LDAP server.

Select the user(s) you want to import to the MegaPX IR Dome from the list.
Tip: You can select multiple users by pressing the CTRL key.

Click the Add selected users button to import the user accounts to the MegaPX IR Dome.
Note: After adding a new LDAP user from the list, the Web Setup needs to restart. The process
does not require a new log on procedure, but the pages may be unavailable for a moment.

In the System menu, click Users.


The User settings page appears.

Select an imported user account from the list.

The Network menu allows you to configure the network parameters for the MegaPX IR Dome
camera and the RTP/RTSP streaming settings.
Tip: You can also configure the static IP settings using the Device Browser. For more information,

The Addresses page allows you to configure the MegaPX IR Dome network parameters, or to set
the device to DHCP mode.
Note: By default, the camera is set to DHCP mode. If the DHCP service is not active or if the camera
cannot contact the DHCP server, the camera reverts to the generic static IP address,
169.254.XXX.XXX.

Note: By selecting DHCP, also the DNS and NTP servers are automatically set to DHCP mode

In the Public address section, enter a Public IP address (Web Address) and connection port
(Video Port) for the MegaPX IR Dome, if required.
Note: If the camera is behind a NAT device, you must configure this option.

Click Submit to confirm the changes.

The camera is set to DHCP mode and the Web server restarts. After a few moments, the camera
automatically retrieves an IP address from the DHCP server, and you can view the new IP address in
the Current IP text box.
To configure the camera to use a static IP address
1 In the IP section, select Manual from the Mode list.

Enter the new IP address for the camera.

Enter the network Subnet mask and the Router/gateway IP address (if applicable).

In the DNS section, enter the IP address for the primary and secondary DNS servers in the DNS 1
and DNS 2 text boxes, as required.

Enter the current network Domain, as required.

In the NTP section, enter the IP address for the NTP server section, as required.

In the Public address section, enter a Public IP address (Web Address) and connection port
(Video Port) for the MegaPX IR Dome, if required.
Note: If the camera is behind a NAT device, you must configure this option.

Configuring the Streaming Channels


The Streamers page allows you to configure a Real-Time Transport Protocol (RTP) and Real-Time
Streaming Protocol (RTSP) streaming channel for the MegaPX IR Dome camera. RTP/RTSP is an
application-level protocol that enables real-time control over data delivery (in this case live data
feeds). This protocol also controls other multiple data delivery protocols, such as UDP, multicast UDP,
and TCP.

To configure RTP/RTSP streaming for H.264 compression


1 On the Streamers page, click the RTP tab.

In the General panel, enter the communication port for the RTSP protocol.

In the MTU list, select the maximum size, in bytes, for the standard data packets.

Select the Multicast TTL (Time To Live) value from the list. The TTL is the maximum number of
routers (hops) that can be crossed by a packet before it is discarded.

Select the range of available communication ports for the UDP delivery protocol by typing the
start and end ports.

In the Authentication panel, select the Authentication type from the list. Options include
Basic (the users credentials are verified by sending a plain text password over the network), and
Digest (the users credentials are securely verified by the system using encrypted information).

You can also configure both authentication types by selecting Yes from the Allow basic
authentication list.

Alternatively, you can allow the user to connect to the streaming video without
authentication by selecting Yes from the Allow anonymous user list.

In the Encoder 1 panel select the transmission method. You can choose Unicast (the data
packets are sent directly from the server to one client, which is recommended for remote
connections) or Multicast (the data packets are duplicated by routers that are able to send data
to a number of clients, which is recommended for LAN connections).

Unicast: Select Yes from the Active unicast list.


Copy and paste the Rtsp link into a media player compatible with unicast transmission, such
as Real Player, to view the video stream.

Multicast: Select No from the Active unicast list. The Active multicast list appears. Select
Yes. You must also enter the Multicast IP address and connection port.
Copy and paste the SDP link into a media player compatible with multicast transmission,
such as Apple Quick Time, to view the video stream.
Note: The UDP multicast protocol is recommended for LAN data transmission, and is
supported by video players like VideoLan and Apple Quick Time.

Repeat step 7 if dual streaming is enabled on the camera. For more information, see
Configuring the Video Options on page 37.

To configure MJPEG streaming


1 On the Streamers page, click the MJPEG tab.

In the General panel, enter the connection port for M-JPEG streaming using the HTTP protocol.

In the Authentication panel, select the Authentication type from the list.

the network), and Digest (the users credentials are securely verified by the system using

The 802.1x Protocol configuration page allows you to configure the 802.1x security protocol for
the MegaPX IR Dome camera. 802.1x is a security protocol that authenticates devices after a
connection to a switch, granting or denying them access to the network.

To configure the 802.1x protocol


1 In the CA Certificate section, click Browse, navigate to the folder where the public certificate
(released by a Certification Authority) is stored, select it, and then click Open.

Click Upload to upload the certificate on the camera.

In the Client public key section, click Browse, navigate to the folder where the public key for
the client certificate is stored, select it, and then click Open.

for the client certificate is stored, select it, and then click Open.

In the EAP identity text box, enter a custom name for the MegaPX IR Dome camera. The switch
and the authentication server uses this name in the system log.
Note: Some authentication servers may require the EAP identity name as part of the
authentication process.

10 In the Private key password text box, enter the password for the private key. This password is
required by the computer to decrypt the private key uploaded on the camera.
11 Click Submit to confirm the changes

Configuring the Encoding Profiles


The Encoders page allows you to configure the encoding profiles for the MegaPX IR Dome camera.
You can configure up to three simultaneous encoding profiles (multi-streaming mode) at the same
time. The camera is able to compress the video using H.264 and M-JPEG compression.

Notes:

The Web Setup automatically applies constraints in terms of resolution and/or IPS while in multistreaming mode. It is not possible to set the H.264 Major compression for two different encoding
profiles.

To enable the snapshot archive functionality, you must set almost an encoding profile with the
JPEG compression. For more information about the snapshot archive functionality, see
Configuring the Snapshot Archive Functionality on page 59.

To configure the encoding profiles


1 Select the compression algorithm(s) from the Encoders # list.
Options include H.264 Major (high resolution and bit rate), H.264 Minor (standard resolution
with low bit rate), and JPEG.
Note: It is not possible to set the H.264 Major compression for two different encoding profiles.

In the Encoder Name field, enter a descriptive name for the first encoding profile.

Select the encoding Resolution from the list.

Select the image Frame Rate from the list.

Select the distance (in number of frames) between two consecutive I frames from the I/P Rate
list.

For H.264 compression, select the bitrate control from the Bitrate mode list.
Options include Constant, which defines a constant bit rate with a limited and fixed bandwidth,
and Variable, which defines a variable bit rate to achieve a better image quality, at the cost of
increased bandwidth.

Select your configuration:

For H.264 compressions with constant bit rate, select the image quality from the Bitrate list.

For H.264 compressions with variable bit rate, you must select:
-

A preset option from the Target Quality list.


Preset options include 20 (Low), 35 (Medium), and 50 (High).
Tip: You can also enter a custom value by clicking the Target Quality text box.

The highest bit rate allowed from the Max Bitrate list. This is useful to limit bandwidth
peaks and usage.

For JPEG compressions, select the image quality from the Quality list.

Enter the interval (in number of frames) between two key frames (i.e. I frames marked as key
frames) in the IDR interval field. This is useful when the camera is set at full resolution and
frame rate, and the client application doesnt visualize live video smoothly.
Note: A lower value corresponds to a higher number of key frames sent by the camera to the
client applications.

Repeat step 1 to step 7 to configure the second and third encoding profile, if applicable.

Configuring the Camera Sensor


The Sensor page allows you to configure the MegaPX IR Dome cameras sensor. MegaPX IR Dome
allows you to save up to six different sets of sensor configurations and automatically switch from
one set of configurations to another according to a custom schedule.
Note: To return to the default sensor configuration, click Reset.

To configure the cameras sensor


1 In the Effect set section, at the bottom of the Sensor page, select which set of configurations
you want to edit from the Mode ID list.

Enter a descriptive name for the set of configurations in the Mode Name field.

This option configure how the sensor calculates the image


exposure. Options include:

Outdoor: The sensor automatically calculates the image


exposure, optimizing it for outdoor scenes.
Note: This option enables the AGC list.

Indoor: The sensor automatically calculates the image


exposure, optimizing it for indoor scenes.
Note: This option enables the AGC list.

Manual: The image exposure is manually set by configuring


the Manual Agc, Iris Aperture, and Shutter Speed
options.

Shutter priority: When the luminance level falls, the sensor


automatically decreases the shutter speed and, as the light
level continues to drop, increases the gain level. This option
generates clear images, at the price of a substantial frame
rate drop.
Note: This option enables the Shutter Speed list.

Basic Set

AGC

This value, measured in dB units, alters the image brightness by


applying a custom bias to the automatic gain control level
calculated by the sensor. Low values generate darker images.
High values generates brighter images.

Basic Set

Manual Agc

This option sets the automatic gain control level. High AGC levels
are recommended for scenes with low light conditions; low AGC
levels are recommended for scenes with strong light conditions.

Iris Aperture

This option sets the iris management mode. Select Auto from the
list to make the sensor automatically manage the iris aperture.
Select Fully Open to keep the iris always open.

Configuring Privacy Patches


The Privacy Patches page allows you to configure up to three privacy patches on the image. A
privacy patch obscures a part of the image and has two different obscuration modes. The privacy
zones and patches do not follow the cameras field of view changes.

To configure a privacy patch


1 Display the Video Preview window by clicking the >> arrows in the left part of the Web Setup
interface.

In the Common panel, select the obscuration color from the Type list.
Options include Black and White.
Note: This setting applies to every privacy patch configured on the camera.

In the Privacy Patch 1 panel, select Enabled from the Status list.

Click the Draw Patch 1 button.

Configuring the Motion Detection Feature


The Motion page allows you to configure the integrated motion detection feature. You can
configure up to four fully customizable detection zones that launch four different alarms. MegaPX
IR Dome is able to automatically start recording on a microSDHC card and/or a NAS device when
motion is detected on the scene.
Important: The Motion detection features automatically disables the PTZ functionalities and the
tour schedules.
Note: To properly configure motion detection on the camera, display the Video Preview window by
clicking the >> arrows.

To configure the motion detection feature


1 In the Video Motion 1 section, select On from the Motion list to activate motion detection on
the first detection zone.

Select the detection Sensitivity level.

Tip: Set this value according to the scene conditions. For example: For a scene with objects (such
as trees or vehicles) moving on the background, it is recommended that you set a lower value to
avoid false alarms.
Select the motion Threshold level before the camera raises an alarm or starts direct recording.

Configuring the Obstruction Detection Analytic


The Obstruction Detection analytic monitors the level of detail in the scene and triggers an alarm
when the level decreases, for example when the camera lens is sprayed with paint or when smoke
obstructs the cameras field of view.
To configure the Obstruction Detection analytic
1 Select the analysis precision from the VCA level list.
Options include High and Low. A higher precision increases the processor workload.

In the Obstruction Detection section, select Enabled from the Status list to activate the
alarm.

Enter the Sensitivity percentage. This percentage defines how much detail can be lost in the
scene before an alarm is triggered.
Tip: The default value is 70%. According to the scene, you can set lower values to minimize the
number of false alarms caused by elements on the scene (for example clouds or dust), or you can
set higher values to increase the detection accuracy.

Click Submit to confirm the changes.

Configuring the Field of View Change Detection Analytic


The Field of View Change Detection analytic detects changes in the cameras field of view, and
triggers an alarm when the camera is moved from its current position.
To configure the Field of View Change Detection analytic
1 Select the analysis precision from the VCA level list.
Options include High and Low. A higher precision increases the processor workload.

The OSD page allows you to add up to three customized text strings to the video. You can add up to
three different superimposed text strings to the image:

Text 1 and Text 2 are customized text strings that are always superimposed on the video.

Time is a text string with the current time and date. The Time string is always superimposed on
the video.

To configure superimposed text (Text 1-Text2)


1 In the Text 1 section, select Enabled from the State list.

Enter the customized text string in the Content field.

Configure the text position by entering horizontal and vertical coordinates in the X and Y fields.
Note: (0;0) corresponds to the upper left corner of the video, while (99;99) corresponds to the
bottom right corner of the video.

Select the Font Size from the list.

Select the text color from the Color list.

Click Submit to confirm the changes.

Activating the Input Auxiliary Channel (Alarm In)


The Aux In page allows you to activate the input auxiliary channels for the MegaPX IR Dome. The
camera can receive alarms from these channels.

To activate the Alarm In channel


1 In the Aux in 1 section, in the Description text box, enter a descriptive name for the external
device.

Select Yes from the Active list to enable the input auxiliary channel.

Select the device status from the Normally Open list.


Options include Yes (open circuit) and No (closed circuit).

Repeat steps 1-3 to configure the second channel (Aux in 2).

Click Submit to confirm the changes.

The Aux Out page allows you to activate the auxiliary channel (switch) for the MegaPX IR Dome.
The camera can send alarms (such as motion detection alarms) to this channel.

To activate the Aux Out channel


1 In the Description text box, enter a descriptive name for the external device.

Configuring Local/NAS Recording


The Storage menu allows you to configure direct recording to a microSDHC card, placed in the
integrated microSDHC card slot, or to a NAS device. The camera is able to archive both videos and
snapshots.
To configure the Storage options
1 In the selection menu, click Storage.

Specifying the Recording Settings


The Recorder page allows you to manage microSDHC cards or NAS devices for direct recording, and
to configure the recording mode.
Notes:

The microSDHC card is not included with the camera.

The snapshots functionality can be enabled only if one of the available encoding profile is
configured with JPEG video compression. For more information, see Configuring the Encoding
Profiles on page 38.

You can view recorded video evidence using the integrated Web server, VisionWeb, or you can
view and retrieve video using the SiteManager application. You can also map the local/NAS
storage on a Command Recording Server using the Shadow Archiving feature.

Specifying the Recording Settings


The Recorder page allows you to manage microSDHC cards or NAS devices for direct recording, and
to configure the recording mode.
Tip: You can view recorded video evidence using the integrated Web server, VisionWeb, or you can
view and retrieve video using the SiteManager application. You can also map the local/NAS storage
on a Command Recording Server using the Shadow Archiving feature.
To specify the recording settings
1 Select SD from the Storage list to enable video recording using the microSDHC card or select
NAS to enable video recording using a NAS device.

In the Settings section, select an encoding profile from the Bitstream list.

Select Yes from the SD backup list to enable recording on the local microSDHC card when the
NAS device is offline.
Note: This option appears only for recording on a NAS device.

Enter a custom name for the folder where video will be recorded in the Record Path field.

Enter a custom name for the folder where snapshots will be saved in the Photo Path field.

Configure how much available card/disk space is reserved for the MegaPX IR Dome video archive
by selecting an option from the Archive limit list.

Options include Size (you must also specify the storage size, in MegaBytes, for both video and
snapshots archive), and Quota (you must also specify the percentage of storage to be reserved
for both video and snapshots).

To configure the recording schedule:

In the first row, select the Monday check box to activate recording on the selected day.
Double click the Start Time field and enter when the camera starts recording on the
selected day.
Double click the End Time field and enter when the camera stops recording on the selected
day.
Repeat steps a-c to configure the recording schedules for the remaining days of the week.

In the Extended conditions section you can configure on-event recording. Recording only
occurs when an event happens during the recording schedule. If no condition is selected, the
camera records continuously during the recording schedule.
You can activate any of the following conditions by selecting Access from the list:

Connection lost: The camera starts recording when one or more configured servers cannot
be reached over the network. For more information, see Monitoring Connections with a
MegaPX IR Dome on page 56.

Motion condition 1-4: The camera starts recording when the selected motion alarm is
triggered.

Io-in condition 1-2: The camera starts recording when an alarm is triggered over the
selected physical input.

Obstruction condition: The camera starts recording when the obstruction detection alarm
is triggered.

FOV condition: The camera starts recording when the field of view change alarm is
triggered.

10 In the Storage when full section, select the camera behavior when the selected storage is full.
Options include RecoveryStop (the camera stops recording) and RecoveryOver (the camera
overwrites the older archived videos).

11 Click Submit to confirm the changes.

Monitoring Connections with a MegaPX IR Dome


The Monitoring page allows you to configure one or more servers that are currently connected to
the camera. You can associate an alarm to this feature (the alarm triggers when the configured
server disconnects from the camera) and you can also set this feature as a recording condition. For
more information see Specifying the Recording Settings on page 54.
Tip: If the camera has been added to a Command Recording Server, we strongly recommend that
you add the CRS as a server to monitor.

To monitor a connection to one or more servers


1 Click Add host.
The new server appears in the page.

Double-click the Host field.

Enter the servers IP address.

Repeat steps 1-3 to add other servers to monitor.

In the Settings panel, select Enabled from the alarm list to associate an alarm to the feature.

If two or more servers have been added, select the alarm/recording behavior from the Monitor
mode list.
Options include OR (the alarm/recording triggers when all the configured servers disconnect
from the camera) and AND (the alarm/recording triggers when any of the configured servers
disconnect from the camera).

Click Submit to confirm the changes.

Managing the MicroSDHC Card


The SD page allows you to enable/disable and format the microSDHC card. The Secure Digital field
displays information about the card status.
Important: Before recording can occur, the microSDHC card must be formatted by clicking the
Format button.

To manage the microSDHC card


1 Click Enable/Disable to activate/deactivate the microSDHC card.
Note: It is recommended that you disable the microSDHC card before removing from the
camera.

Click Refresh status to update the microSDHC card information.

Click Format to erase all files from the microSDHC card.

Managing Network Attached Storage


The NAS page allows you to enable/disable and configure the NAS device for direct recording. The
Status panel displays information about the storage status.

To manage Network Attached Storage


1 Select Yes from the Active list.

Select the file sharing Protocol from the list.


Options include CIFS (the file sharing protocol developed by Microsoft) and NFS (the file sharing
protocol developed by Sun Microsystems).

Enter the Username and Password needed to log on to the NAS device.

In the Path field, enter the NAS location on the network.

Click Submit to confirm the changes.

Click Refresh status to update the NAS status information.

Configuring the Snapshot Archive Functionality


The Snap Shot Setting page allows you to create a schedule for the snapshot archive functionality
and configure the snapshots frequency.
Note: The snapshots functionality can be enabled only if one of the available encoding profile is
configured with JPEG video compression. For more information, see Configuring the Encoding
Profiles on page 38.

To configure the snapshot archive functionality


1 In the first row, select the Monday check box to activate snapshot saving on the selected day.

Double click the Start Time field and enter when the camera starts saving snapshots on the
selected day.

Double click the End Time field and enter when the camera stops saving snapshots on the
selected day.

Repeat steps 1-3 to configure the snapshot saving schedules for the remaining days of the week.

Enter the time interval (in seconds) between two snapshots in the Snapshot interval field.

Click Submit to confirm the changes.

Downloading Archived Video and Snapshots


The Download page allows you to search for archived video or snapshots and export them to your
client PC.

To download archived video and snapshots


1 Select Video from the File type list to export an archived video, or select Image to export a
series of snapshots.

In the Start Date field, click the

Adjusting Zoom and Focus


The Dome page allows you to remotely adjust zoom and focus on the image. MegaPX IR Dome
features a motorized 3x optical zoom and is able to automatically adjust focus on the image.
Note: You can adjust zoom and focus only by accessing the Web Setup interface. These features are
disabled on the VisionWeb interface, on Command Client, and on SiteManager.
To adjust zoom and focus
1 In the selection menu, click Dome.
The Lens adjust page appears.

Display the Video Preview window by clicking the >> arrows in the left part of the Web Setup
interface.

Viewing and Exporting the System Log

In the Zoom section, click the Tele (zoom +) and Wide (zoom -) buttons to adjust the zoom level
on the image.

In the Assist on focus section, click the assist button to launch the automatic focus setting.
After a few moments, the camera automatically adjusts focus on the image.

In the Focus section, click the Far and Near buttons to manually adjust the focus on the image,
if required.

In the Fine focus section, click the Far and Near buttons to manually refine the focus on the
image, if required.

Viewing and Exporting the System Log


The MegaPX IR Dome features an intuitive, text-based system log that reports all of the main actions
performed on the camera.
To view and export the system log
1 On the Web Setup home page, click the arrows at the bottom of the page to show the system
log.

The system log appears.

You can navigate within the system log using the log toolbar. To change the log page, enter the
page number or use the toolbar buttons.
The buttons on the toolbar are described in the following table.

Viewing Live and Recorded Video
This chapter describes how to manage VisionWeb, the integrated Web server. VisionWeb allows you
to connect to the MegaPX IR Dome camera to view live and recorded video using Microsoft Internet
Explorer.

Accessing VisionWeb
You can access the VisionWeb server using Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Note: You can only access the interface using Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 (or later).
To access VisionWeb
1 Start Internet Explorer.

Enter the cameras IP address.


Tip: You can also access VisionWeb using the Device Browser application. For details, see
Accessing VisionWeb and the Web Setup on page 13.
Note: The VisionWeb Web server may require that you install the March Networks ActiveX plugin, which allows your browser to display the streamed video. Click the Internet Explorer warning
bar and select Run Add-on - or INSTALL ACTIVEX CONTROL, depending on the browser and
the Operating System version. Click Install in the new Internet Explorer window to confirm the
installation.

Accessing VisionWeb

Log on with a valid User ID (default: admin) and Password (default: no password).

The VisionWeb interface appears.


Note: If your client is behind a proxy server, select the Use proxy check box, and configure the
connection details (server type, IP address, connection port, and logon credentials) for the proxy

You can access all of the VisionWeb functions using the control panel on the left part of the
interface.

The following table describes the buttons in the left portion of the control panel. Click these buttons
to perform a search on video evidence, save a snapshot, enable the talk channel, and select the video
evidence source.

Changing the Zoom Levels


The VisionWeb server has integrated digital zooming functionality.
To zoom in or out
1 Select the portion of the image that you want to zoom by clicking and dragging in the image.
The selected area is zoomed.

Roll the mouse wheel up or down to increase or decrease the zoom level.
Note: Zooming in digitally results in a loss of video definition.
