Reservoir Drive Mechanism

Reservoir Drive Mechanism

Pressure difference between reservoir fluids and the wellbore

pressure causes fluid to flow from reservoir.

There are several ways in which fluid can be displaced and produced

from a reservoir, and these may be termed mechanisms or drives.

Where one replacement mechanism is dominant, the reservoir may

be said to be operating under a particular drive.

Combination Drive

In combination-drive reservoirs,
at least two of the basic drive
mechanisms are active in
expelling oil.

Example shows combination of

natural water influx and gas cap
drive.
