Guidelines for admissions to PG programme (M.Tech/M.pharma/M.Arch.

programme)
And
Ph.D. Programme herein referred as Research Aptitude Test (RATE)
&
Teachers Eligibility Test hereafter referred as Faculty Aptitude Test (FATE).
As per decision of Academic Council of AKTU & the committee constituted vide office order
number AKTU/VCO/2016/773 for finalizing modalities of the admissions to Post Graduate
(PG) programme(M.Tech/M.Pharma/M.Arch) and Ph.D. programme (RATE) & Faculty
Aptitude Test (FATE) of the University, following is resolved
1 For Admission to PG Programme/Research Aptitude Test (RATE)/Faculty Aptitude Test
(FATE)- Paper-I
There shall be entrance test for (Paper- I ) admissions to PG programme
(M.Tech/M.Pharma/M.Arch) /RATE and/or FATE of the University for the session 2016-17.
The domain Knowledge Test for such admissions will be of GATE/GPAT/NET /CAT level. The
candidates seeking admissions to above programme shall have to appear in a multiple
choice objective nature written test .The domain Knowledge Test shall be on conducted
subject wise on the following broad areas -(i)Civil Engg. (ii) Mechanical Engg. (iii) Electrical Engg. (iv) Electronics & Communication
Engg (v) Computer Science & Engg/ Information Tech/MCA (vi) Chemical Engg (vii)
Chemical Technology (viii) Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics (ix) Environmental Engg. (x)
Textile Engg. (xi) Pharmaceutical Sciences & Engg.
(xii) Architecture (xiii) Management (xiv) Physics (xv) Chemistry (xvi) Mathematics (xv) any
other programme as & when proposed.
The domain knowledge test shall be conducted on the above subjects (PAPER-I). The
candidates have to appear in the Paper-I subject to their eligibility criterion as laid down by
regulatory authorities GATE/GPAT/NET (CSIR) such as AICTE/Architectural
Council/Pharmacy council/UGC etc. It is pertinent to mention again that syllabi for this
paper (PAPER-I) shall be similar to that of GATE/GPAT/NET level of Exams.
All candidates seeking admission to PG Programme (M.Tech/M.Pharma/M.Arch) have to
appear necessarily in subject domain test (Paper-I) as prescribed, subject to their eligibility.
The final admission of the candidates shall be done on the basis counselling as per their
combined merit of the written test. However, such candidates who are GATE/GPAT/NET
(CSIR) qualified and have the valid score card, are exempted from the written test and will
appear in the counselling directly for admission.

The candidates with valid GATE/GPAT/NET score shall be admitted on the preferential basis
over the candidates through written test (Paper I).
2. For Admission to Ph.D. programme( RATE)--(Paper- I & Paper-II) There shall be a Research Aptitude Test (RATE) with multiple choice
objective nature test for such candidates who are seeking admission to the Ph.D.
Programme of University. Such candidates have to appear in the Paper I for their domain
Knowledge Test in following disciplines/Subject Area
(i)Civil Engg. (ii) Mechanical Engg. (iii) Electrical Engg. (iv) Electronics & Communication Engg
(v) Computer Science & Engg/ Information Tech/MCA (vi) Chemical Engg (vii) Chemical
Technology (viii) Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics (ix) Environmental Engg. (x) Textile Engg.
(xi) Pharmaceutical Sciences & Engg. (xii) Management (xiii) Architecture (xiv) Physics (xv)
Chemistry (xvi) Mathematics (xvii) any other programme as & when proposed.
The syllabi for Paper-I shall be GATE/GPAT/NET/CAT and advanced Post Graduate level on
the respective subject domains as prescribed above.
Beside this, the candidate is also required to appear in the Aptitude Test (PAPER-II), in
addition to Paper-I. The contents of the Aptitude Test (PAPER-II) will have the thrust on
testing the skills of Data Interpretations, Language Proficiency, Reasoning and Logic design,
Teaching Aptitude , Higher/Technical Educational Awareness Systems, Moral &Ethics/
Human Values etc.
The final admission of the qualified candidates, however shall be done on the basis of
interview as per their ranks on the combined assessment of both the Papers, Paper-I &
Paper-II.
3. For Teachers Eligibility Test, hereafter referred as Faculty Aptitude test (FATE) -(Paper I & Paper II)
In pursuit of quality check in the Technical /Professional education, the role of faculty is vital
in nurturing the budding engineers / professionals of AKTU, the University shall conduct a
written test of Multiple Choice Objective Nature for recruitment as Assistant Professor in
the Institutions /Colleges of AKTU. The University shall provide pool of such qualified faculty
on its website in order to enable institutions of AKTU to select such quality faculty as an
Assistant Professor in the institutions.
The candidates seeking their career as an Assistant Professor, subject to their eligibility, in
the institutions of AKTU shall have to appear in both Paper-I & Paper II as prescribed
above subject their eligibility as per norms.
The institutions are advised to invite applications amongst the pool of such candidates
hosted on the Website prior to final selection through interview to their respective

institutions. The University shall promote such FATE qualified candidates, if selected by the
institutions as an Assistant Professor in the routine Academic/ Administrative assignments
of the University & some financial assistance may also be granted such as for participation in
Seminars /Conferences & other incentives/logistics as decided by the university from time
to time.
All aforesaid tests is likely to be conducted in mid June-2016. The advertisement with
details of prescribed fees, Test centres and other details shall be published in the last week
on the website in the last week of April-2016 and online applications shall be invited from
the second week of May 2016.
Important Note-- It is pertinent to mention that candidates who have a valid GATE/GPAT
/NET score shall be exempted from appearing Paper-I for admission to PG Programme
((M.Tech/M.Pharma/M.Arch). of the university. Such candidates shall be called on
preferential basis for the seat allotment in the counselling. However, final allotment of the
seats shall be on the basis of ranks/merit subject to their eligibility.
The candidates seeking admission to Ph.D. programme (RATE) and/or FATE exam have to
appear in both the Papers, Paper-I & Paper-II.
Important note (i) the candidates applying for more than one of type test such as RATE
and/or FATE), shall have to submit the ONLY ONE application with the additional fees as
prescribed.
(ii) The application form incomplete, in any respect, will be liable to be rejected & the fees
submitted will not be refundable.
(iii)The candidate must ensure minimum eligibility conditions of their admission/selection
to the respective courses as per AICTE/UGC/other competent regulatory authorities.
Age Limitthe minimum age limit for all the above programmes is 16 years & the maximum
age limit shall be 60 years.
Negative Markingthere will be negative marking in the evaluation of above pattern of
examination as following
4 marks will be awarded for each correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for each
wrong answer, however no marks shall be deducted for unattempted questions.
Tie BreakIn case of equal marks secured by the candidates, the tie will be broken on the
basis of nos of wrong questions attempted (more wrongs less ranking ) then by seniority
Examination Fee-- As per decision of the university the application fee for each of above wiz
(i) PG admission test (ii) Research Aptitude Test (RATE) for admission to Ph.D. Programme
(iii) Faculty Aptitude Test (FATE) for recruitment to the post of Assistant Professor is
prescribed as following---

(a) For GEN/OBC candidatesRs 2000 (b) For SC/ST/Females /PH candidates --Rs1000
The candidates applying for more than one programme shall, however have to submit
separate application form for each of the above programme(s).
Minimum eligibility conditionsthe minimum eligibility conditions for each of the above is
proposed as following --For admission to PG Programme
(i)

M. Tech or M. Pharm. Or M. Arch. Minimum 60% or equivalent CGPA in B.E/


B.Tech. Or B.Pharma or B.Arch as per eligibility.

(ii)

Ph.D. Programmes Minimum 60% at under graduate and/or post graduate level of
the examination as per the eligibility.

(iii)

Faculty Aptitude Test --- Minimum 60% at under graduate level and/or post graduate
level of the examination as per the eligibility.

Reservation PolicyAs per latest Govt orders (rules) will be applicable.


City of ExaminationThe written test for all the programmes (PaperI & Paper-II) is
proposed to be conducted at following cities simultaneously.
(i)Noida / Greater Noida (G.B. Nagar) (ii) Lucknow
Time Duration of the examination
(a) Paper- I (three hours)First session
(b) Paper II (two & half hours)-Second Session
