Should have sound mathematical foundation of (a) differential equations, (b) Complex algebra,
(c) Laplace transforms (d) z transform and (e) Linear algebra.
Should have the basic knowledge of (a) SciLab Software (b) electronic components (c)
Assembly language programming.
Should have knowledge of 3rd party softwares like Maxima, SciCos and Perl which are required
for integrate the symbolic tool-box of Matlab with SciLab in Windows.
LIST OF EXPERIMENTS

To define a transfer function and draw its pole-zero plot for a (a) mechanical system (b) electrical
system.
Tasks:
(i) Define a polynomial using (a) its roots and (b) its coefficients.
(ii) To obtain the roots of a given polynomial.
(iii) Define a polynomial using syslin.
(iv) To obtain the location of poles and zeros for a given transfer function.
(v) To draw the pole-zero plot.
To obtain the overall transmittance of a given complex system represented in either the block diagram
representation or signal flow graph representation by using masons gain formula.
Tasks:
(i) To convert the given block diagram to signal flow graph.
(ii)Define gains between different nodes as symbolic variables.
(iii)To obtain overall transmittance between the input and output node by using masons gain formula.

To obtain the time response of a given system and obtain the steady state error for different inputs.
Tasks:
(i) Define symbolic variables.
(ii)To express the given system in terms of its partial fractions.
(iii)To determine the Laplace inverse.
(iv)To obtain the value of steady state error for (a) different inputs and for (b) different types of the
system.
To obtain the time response specifications of a given systems for various inputs.
Tasks:
(i)To obtain the transient response specifications for a given system with various inputs.
(ii)To design a system for given transient response specifications.
To find the step response of the given transfer functions and analyze the effect of introducing a pole in
the significant region and insignificant region..
Tasks:
(i)To obtain the characteristic equation for a given closed loop systems.
(ii)To identify the locations of poles for the given systems.
(iii)To draw the pole-zero plot for the given systems.
(iv)To analyze the relative stability of the systems.
To analyze the stability of the given system and analyze the impact of different parameters on the
stability.
Tasks:
(i)To obtain the transfer function for a given system.
(ii)To plot the root locus of the system by varying the forward path gain from k=0 to k=infinity.
(iii)To analyze the effect of adding pole and zero.
To implement a first order system in hardware and obtain its frequency response.
Tasks:
(i) To implement a hardware circuit using OPAMPS representing a first order system.
(ii)To obtain the transfer function of the designed system.
(iii)To obtain the magnitude- frequency and phase- frequency relationship from the transfer function.
(iv) To analyze the frequency response on CRO.
To design and analyze the state space model of given LTI systems
Tasks:
(i)To obtain the state model of the given transfer function.
(ii)To obtain the time response of the state model.
(iii)To determine the controllability and observability of the developed state model.
Design and obtain Gain characteristics of a Low Pass & High Pass Filter using RC components by varying
amplitude of the signal (Considering Sinusoidal, Triangular and square wave inputs)

To study and perform characteristics of an Analog PID controller using stimulated system
