blowing the doors off of the recruitment models of the past and presenting organizations with the
means to advance traditional recruiting elements like sourcing, selecting, hiring and branding to new
levels. Its use is growing exponentially and utilizing platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram,
Google+, Twitter, and even Pinterest, have shown that an online community is not only imperative for
recruiting, but it can be built and managed almost anywhere to reach the audience you want, even on
platforms that werent built with recruiting in mind!
We have an interesting dichotomy in the world of talent - companies are crying out
about talent gaps everywhere, without using their full range of resources to actually
look for talent. One such resource is social media.
Social media is often seen as an opportunity to reach customers, but it can also be an
incredible recruiting tool. We can build a reputation and awareness with our target
audience for the day when our recruiters are ready to call them, or they are ready to
apply for one of our roles.
Facebook
It was initially started as college networking site. Later on this expanded and now
each and everyone can be included. With Face book you can share your status
updates, photos, videos etc and your friends can like and comment on your shares.
Face book has more than 500 million users, of which 50% log into the site every day.
Around 33% of all internet users visit Face book at least once per month.
Facebook reports that its fastest growth is in the 35-to-54 age bracket (276% growth in 2008),
followed by the 55-plus bracket (194% growth in 2008). Fifty-eight percent of Facebook users have a
household income of $60,000 or more.
HVAC companies should not use any of these sites for sales pitches. Social media is all about
voluntary associations. With one click of a mouse, a user can become a Facebook fan of your
company, and they can end the association just as quickly. The goal is to build affinity, so its all about
what you say and what you dont say. If people think you're just trying to sell, they will unfriend
you. The key is to step back from selling and focus on crafting a positive image that fans and
followers can embrace.
You can grow your Facebook following by posting updates and links that reflect well on the company.
For example, if you are an industry news junkie who reads home comfort-related stories online, you
can post hyperlinks on your Facebook page. Every time you post a new link, your fans will get an
update on their Facebook page that includes the link and whatever you wrote about it. By posting
relevant, interesting stories, you craft an image as a smart company that believes in informing its
customers.
LinkedIn
LinkedIn is one of the social networking sites in India which are used by many
professionals When anyone searches in Google for you, it is always a positive if you
can be easily visible and this is possible with LinkedIn as the page rank of such social
networking sites in India is high. So care must be invested in making the profile and
things must be added based on priority as people see the stuff in your profile. Not
only you get connections but also advices from the experts from the features
available in LinkedIn. Along with these features LinkedIn help finding your friends or
your old associates of business.

media, and 79% of those candidates came from LinkedIn. In this same study, 93% of recruiters said

representing 170 industries and 200 countries. There are over 65 million professionals on LinkedIn.
Twitter
Twitter is a microblogging social networking service. Messages, better known as tweets, are no more
than 140 characters. According to their website, "Twitter is a simple tool that helps connect businesses
more meaningfully with the right audience at the right time."
The easiest way to recruit is to tweet jobs you have available. "Looking for a Sales Rep in NYC, Very
competitive salary, apply at (include a shortened url)."
Twitter is a good platform for recruiters and organizations to identify, interact and engage with
prospects before they even apply to your jobs. You can easily find function or skill-specific hashtags
on Google. Include some of these hashtags when posting jobs (note: tread very lightly here unless its
a job-specific hashtag, lest you be banished as a spammer).
Twitter is also an effective sourcing platform. Are you recruiting Drupal developers? Keep an eye on
the hashtags: #Drupal, #DrupalCon, #Drupal8, etc to see what these communities are talking about
and identify influential developers. Recruiting Marketing Managers? Check out #marketing,
#digitalmarketing,#marketingresearch, #mktg, etc and do the same.

found that 58% of respondents have used Twitter for job-seeking purposes in the last six
months.Respondents were asked how they use Twitter for their job search and 76% said that they
look at company profiles, while 55 % follow companies they want to work for.Overall, 174 of the
500 companies on Fortunes list (35 %) have an active company-level Twitter account dedicated to
recruiting.
